WHO KILLED TODD SEES? A UFO MYSTERY
A mysterious homicide in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, about 60 miles (100 kilometers) north of the state capital, Harrisburg, has captured the attention of local residents, state police and the FBI.
The incident took place on Montour Ridge, just north of Northampton, Pa. (population 3,741) on Friday, August 2, 2002. According to Peter B. Davenport of the National UFO Reporting Center, "Todd Sees lived at the foot of Montour Ridge, a mountain stretching over 20 miles (32 kilometers) east. Todd Sees went up the mountain to look for pre-(hunting)season deer. He told his wife he would be home by noon. He rode his 4-wheeler (all-terrain vehicle or ATV--J.T.) up the powerline (pathway) behind his home at a little after five in the morning" on August 2, 2002.
"Noon came and no Todd. His wife and children became concerned. At 2 p.m., a search party was organized and local police, state police, paramedics and 200 volunteers helped search for Todd Sees."
"The 4-wheeler was found on top of the mountain near a powerline. Tracking dogs could find nothing to go on (no scent--J.T.) around the 4-wheeler. The search went on for two days and over six miles of (Montour) mountain were covered from top to bottom. A pond a few hundred yards from the house was even searched by skin divers just so they overlooked nothing."
"Then, on the evening of the second day (August 3, 2002), something white was spotted in a large brushy area 25 feet (7 meters) from the pond. Police and rescue workers spent twenty minutes cutting and hackng brush and small trees so they could reach what looked like a body. It was Todd Sees. He was wearing his underwear. He was emaciated, not bloated. He had an expression of horror on his face. When he went up the mountain, he was fully dressed--boots, camo (camoflauge) vest, hat, socks, pants."
(Editor's Note: Mystery Number One--why was the victim's body emaciated? A mere 48 hours after death, and just after rigor mortis had subsided, the blood should have pooled in the portions of the body closest to the ground, creating a bloated appearance. What happened to the blood?)
"The FBI showed up within 30 minutes (of Todd's discovery--P.D.) They took charge. They would not let his wife look at her dead husband, no matter how much she tried."
The FBI also reportedly questioned numerous people in the Montour Ridge area, mostly dairy farmers.
"Three farmers on one farm said they saw 'a large real bright object' just above the powerline at the time of Todd's disappearance. The UFO was silent. It did not move for about 10 to 15 minutes. It suddenly went up...and suddenly stopped. A bright light shined down and something was pulled up into the light. The UFO then went straight up, hesitated again, then went west over the Susquehanna River and out of sight."
Last week, "a boot was found a mile from the 4-wheeler at the top of a tree."

"Now the body is in Allentown, Pa. and from there it is going to Fort Indiantown Gap, Pa.," the report added.
(Editor's Comment: Fort Indiantown Gap is an operating base for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). United Nations troops have also trained there in recent years. Mystery Number Three!)
The Northampton, Pa. investigating officer told Peter Davenport that "the decedent's remains had been returned to the family, contrary to claims made by some regarding this case" and that "a final report will be issued in September."

MORE WEIRD CREATURES APPEAR IN INDIA
In addition to Muhnochwa (Hindi for Face Scorcher--J.T.), the strange creature that has terrified the states of Uttar Pradesh and Uttranchal in recent weeks, northern India has been plagued by other weird entities.
In August 2002, young women were attacked by "the so-called 'crawling ghost' of Biswan in the Sitapur district" of Uttar Pradesh state. "Twenty complaints had been logged by early August."
"I heard from my friend Krishnari Bai in India," Ayesha al-Khatabi, UFO Roundup's Middle East correspondent reported. "She said a haivan (Hindi for demon--J.T.) has been pinching the bottoms of women walking through the maidan (main plaza) of Biswan. A girl is walking with her friends, and then she feels a hand clutching her buttock, squeezing it like an old-fashioned automobile horn. Krishnari says the women have taken to wearing 'armored saris (dresses).' They put padding around their posteriors. If I ever visit Uttar Pradesh, I'm leaving my Gitano jeans home!"
"'The (Biswan) incidents are for real,' announced Sub-Divisional Magistrate Akhilesh Singh."
(Editor's Comment: I can see this entity would be a real hoot on the Via Veneto in Rome.)
"Back in February" of 2002, "residents of slums along the Sabarmati River near Ahmadabad in northwestern India (Gujarat state--J.T.) reported many sightings of a 'monkey-man' aged between 25 and 30 years, dark-skinned with curly hair, dressed in black and wearing a mask."
"'I saw him from the back,' said a young witness called Abdul Hamid. 'He had a sword in his hand, and when I raised an alarm, he jumped to another roof and then on to a tree.'"
"Two youths, Mehboob and Farooq, chased the stranger along a river bed, but he seemed to disappear into thin air. The youths then began 'behaving abnormally,' and were sprinkled with holy water. Mohammed Salim said that on more than six occasions the monkey-man had disappeared after being chased."
"An old man called Pyaare Khan said that 40 years ago a haivan appeared every time there was a funeral in the Shahpur area; and two decades ago (1980s) there was a magician who moved around Nehru Bridge with a skull in his hand."

EIGHT UFOs SEEN BY POLICE IN SAMPACHO, ARGENTINA
"Various police officers based in villages south of Rio Cuarto," in Argentina's Cordoba province, "declared that they have witnessed numerous circular and luminous objects performing wobbly maneuvers or forming a horizontal line in the night sky for several minutes. The objects were seen at a great distance from the observing police officers."
"Reports have been received from the police outpost in Conechingones, with the object appearing and hovering over tall hills such as El Morro Suco, Cerro Divisadero, Cerro Sampacho and others in the southern part of Cordoba province."
"Police on patrol in the region last saw the phenomenon last Friday," September 6, 2002, "at around 10 p.m. Two of the officers were in the town of Sampacho when they received an alert on their car radio. Arriving at the scene, they spotted the red glow of a strange circular object. There were seven or eight UFOs over the Cerro Sampacho (hill), and they appeared to be hovering at an altitude of 1,500 meters (5,000 feet). There was no audible sound coming from any of the objects. THE RETURN OF VIRGINIA'S LYNCH MOUNTAIN MYSTERY
On Thursday, September 5, 2002, "two doctor friends visited the witness" at his home in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia, "bringing their telescopes to do some deep-sky observing."
"'One of my friends told us to look at a 'jet' as one continued to go over at 6 p.m.,'" the witness told the UFO newsletter Filer's Files. "'But we knew it was no jet. It was a long black cylinder with a smaller cylinder on each side of it, also black. One red light was in the center of the largest cylinder. There was no sound at all from the craft.'"
"'Now comes the wild part--an eerie green glow started at the point of the red light, then haloed the entire craft, and then, right in front of the three of us, the damn thing vanished! It was still daylight and a clear day, no clouds at all! I am no flake. I own a very successful outdoor billboard company."
The billboard owner's sighting is just the latest wrinkle in the ongoing "Lynch Mountain Mystery," which began early in 2001.
January 2001 saw a flurry of intense UFO activity on Lynch Mountain, which is located on the state line about 25 miles (40 kilometers) south of Pikeville, Kentucky and 14 miles (23 kilometers) west of Appalachia, Virginia.
At the time, local resident Chris Light reported that people had seen "UFOs going from west to east and hovering over Lynch Mountain. Strange and bright white lights. They all appear to be egg-shaped. You see white jeeps (Humvees) around the area all the time."
Lynch Mountain has a strange past dating back to colonial times. "Strange booming noises" were heard at the mountain's Pound Gap by early pioneers in the 1790s. The mountain was also sacred to the Ontouagannha and Ani-Yupuya indigenous peoples (also known as Shawnee and Cherokee Indians--J.T.).
In 1917, during World War I, the USA's federal government purchased 42,000 acres at the top of Lynch Mountain from the U.S. Coal and Coke Co. as "a strategic coal reserve."
The UFO sightings and "sky booms" have fueled speculation that there is an underground alien base at Lynch Mountain, similar to the one reputed to exist at Dulce, New Mexico. Others claim that the mountain contains an underground scientific laboratory devoted to high-energy "Tesla research" or a subterranean facility operated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). (Editor's Comment: Considering the "green glow" that spread around the cylinder-shaped UFO, the "Tesla research" angle appears to have some merit. In the notorious "Philadelphia Experiment" of 1943, the U.S. Navy attempted to use "Tesla magnetic coils" to make a destroyer-escort, the USS Eldridge, invisible.
When the generators were switched on, a strange green glow surrounded the ship, and it vanished. Within seconds, the Eldridge suddenly appeared in the harbor of Norfolk, Virginia, then disappeared again only to reappear once more in Philadelphia. Is Lynch Mountain a secret government laboratory where the yoyo teleportation "Philadelphia Experiment" is being perfected?)
MORE UFOs SEEN IN WISCONSIN
On Thursday, September 5, 2002, at 10:55 p.m., Gary E. reported, "It was a very clear night, and I went out to my backyard patio" in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin (population 16,136) "to let the dog out. I noticed how clear the night sky was and, after a few minutes, I saw what I thought was a triangular group of about three stars in the north. They were fairly bright compared to the others around them."
Pleasant Prairie, Wis. is on the east bank of the Des Plaines River about three miles (5 kilometers) west of Kenosha, Wis. and 40 miles (64 kilometers) north of Chicago, Illinois.
Gary continued, "To my surprise, I noticed that all three stars were moving--together! At first I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me and looked away. I looked again and realized that they were in fact moving. The three 'stars' or lights maintained their exact distance and relationship to each other as they moved."
"The shape was a thin pointed triangle. As far as its size, holding my arm straight out, the object looked like it measured about an inch (2.5 centimeters) long and a half-inch (1.25 centimeters) wide. It moved slowly through the sky in a southeast direction, with a single light in front and two lights" at the rear.
"All three lights were white and looked like bright stars. There was nothing visible between them, or it (the UFO) may just have been black. I ran into the house and told my wife to come outside. She did. By this time, about five minutes after I first saw it, the triangle shape had turned toward the southeast (toward the Lake Michigan shoreline and Chicago!--J.T.) and was nearly straight up in the sky. My wife also saw it and, within 30 seconds or so, we lost sight of the triangle as it faded, and the lights went out. We were stunned!"
On Monday, September 9, 2002, at 10:25 p.m., James B. "saw three objects at a very high altitude" over his home in Blue River, Wis., located on County Road M in Crawford County, Wis. 50 miles (80 kilometers) west of Madison, the state capital. "They looked like satellites or stars as far as brightness goes," James reported, "They were in a V formation. I do not believe they were aircraft because there were no flashing (navigation) lights, and their altitude was too high. My wife also saw them. Speed was constant until they were lost from sight." COUPLE SPOTS A UFO IN RODNEY, ONTARIO
On Saturday, September 7, 2002, a couple in Rodney, Ontario, Canada (population 1,087) spotted three UFOs while outdoors. The female witness reported, "Last night my boyfriend and I went outside to see if we could determine if there was a group of satellites which flew by the previous night," Friday, September 6, 2002.
"Again we saw three objects moving across the sky from a northerly to a southeasterly direction, but this time they passed by at 10:08 p.m. instead of 10:50 p.m. Would this rule out satellites?"
"They appeared to be flying above airplane altitude and following a similar path as some satellites. The objects were flying in a triangular formation. It was like three stars just coming out of nowhere and then just fading out after three or four minutes. They just appear, move and then disappear. Both incidents we were facing east and tracked them from a 10 o'clock position to a 2 o'clock position before they faded. Their image would be the same as viewing the stars in the sky, or the size of a pinhead, due to the altitude at which they were flying. Colour would be a steady, non-blinking white light."
Rodney, Ont. is on Highway 19, just north of Lake Erie, located about 40 miles (64 kilometers) southwest of London in southern Ontario. (Many thanks to Canadian ufologist Brian Vike for this report.)
LARGE UFO SEEN BY DOZENS OVER TIJUANA, MEXICO
"Dozens of residents of the Avenida Porticos in barrio San Antonio de los Buenos (neighborhood) in Tijuana," Baja California, Mexico "claim having seen a UFO in the early morning hours of (Sunday) September 1, 2002. It had a diameter of approximately 50 meters (165 feet) and it remained suspended over the area at low altitude, even while covered by cloud."
"Our sources, who spoke to us via telephone at the newsroom, said that the time was approximately 2:15 a.m. when they noticed a powerful light in the sky. Those who were first in detecting it looked to the sky to see what this large object might prove to be, and they say it was not a helicopter."
"They state that they woke up other neighbors and friends, since they were afraid that they were suffering from a strange collective hallucination, having been at a party and consumed alcohol earlier."
"However, this was not the case, since those who were awakened and roused from their beds and had not consumed liquor saw exactly the same thing: a highly luminous object. What is most curious, according to our sources, is that the object in question was noiseless, even when it rose higher into the air, before vanishing from sight."
"They do not know if others saw this strange flying object, but from the moment that the entire community of this section of Tijuana saw the object, they have not dismissed the possibility of having seen a UFO." TRIANGULAR UFO SIGHTED IN MESQUITE, NEW MEXICO
On Monday, September 9, 2002, at around 5 p.m., R.C. Rodriguez, 42, "was sitting outside in my backyard, enjoying a nice summer day," he reported, when he "noticed something black in color in the sky."
Looking closer, he added, "I saw a silver-grayish object floating in the air about 200 yards (180 meters) from me and about three stories (30 feet or 9 meters) high in the air."
"It began to move forward towards me at a very slow pace. I would say maybe 25 to 30 miles per hour (40 to 48 kilometers per hour). I just sat there and looked at this aircraft that I have never seen before. I noticed it had no windows and it made no sound. It was a triangular shape with the point facing back and the larger part in the front, I guess."
"It then floated towards me but kept the height and went right over my head and home. I looked up at it, and I could see the bottom. I did not see any nuts, bolts or plates to it. It was solid."
"All I heard when it passed over was a 'whoooosh' sound like air hitting the front of the aircraft. I immediately looked at the ground and trees, and there was no movement, sound or pulsion or force hitting the dirt. Or the movement of trees from the aircraft flying so low. I must have sat there for quite some time and realized what I had seen."
"I was shaken up for a good while since I was in the military for 20 years and am familiar with aircraft and the force it takes to lift an aircraft and stay aloft. This object floated and had no sound whatsoever. I am convinced they are out there, and I have talked to friends within this small town (Mesquite, N.M.), and they told me that they see them all the time."
Mesquite, N.M. is off Interstate Highway I-25 just south of Las Cruces and is about 20 miles (32 kilometers) north of El Paso, Texas. (Email Report)
FIVE UFOs SEEN BY FAMILY IN CAPE CORAL, FLORIDA
On Monday, September 9, 2002, at 2 a.m., James G. reported, "Approaching from the north" in Cape Coral, Florida (population 102,286) "were five objects, three on the right and two on the left. Then these five elongated capsules just flew by. No noise. No deviation (in their flight path--J.T.); just straight south. The light cloud cover had a shadowy effect on their luminous glow."
The UFOs, he added, "had a glow like a shooting star" and "had a cylinder shape like an Ibuprofen (capsule). They flew above the cloud cover, which was light. I saw what I saw, and it is really freaking me out."
Cape Coral is on Florida's Gulf coast, just southwest of Fort Myers and approximately 155 miles (248 kilometers) west of Miami. (Email Form Report)
ROUND GREEN UFO SEEN IN WESTERN MISSOURI
On Friday, September 6, 2002, at 8:30 p.m., Doug L. reported, "a witness friend of mine" was driving south on Route 33 between Holt, Missouri and Kearney, Missouri (population 5,472) when he saw "a green round glowing object crashed in a (farm) field. It was a green glowing object flying from west to east over the car, and it crashed in a field close to (Interstate) Highway I-35. The grass caught fire. He turned around to look for the object. He said (by then) the fire was gone, and he couldn't find anything. He said it was 200 to 400 feet (60 to 120 meters) above his car and moving very fast."
Kearney, Mo. is on Interstate Highway I-35 about 15 miles (25 kilometers) northeast of Kansas City. (Email Form Report) (Editor's Note: Holt. Mo. is the birthplace of American outlaw Jesse James.)
CROP CIRCLES APPEAR IN WESTERN CANADA
Crop circles appeared last week in two western provinces of Canada.
On Wednesday, September 4, 2002, a formation appeared near Weyburn, Saskatchewan (population 9,723), located about 70 miles (112 kilometers) southeast of Regina. It was "a double-ringed circle with an attached short curved pathway or circle in a canary seed crop, approximately 21.5 metres (71 feet) in diameter. Inner ring circle offset from centre. Counterclockwise lay (crop in rings and centre circle--P.A.); clockwise splayed 'bird's nest' around the centre of the small attached circle. Initially discovered by the farmer."
On Sunday, September 8, 2002, two crop circle formations appeared in a corn field in Mission, British Columbia (population 30,519), located 35 miles (56 kilometers) in the Fraser Valley east of Vancouver.
"The first formation is a large pictogram type pattern approximately 45 metres (149 feet) long, consisting of a large 18-metre (60-foot) circle with an attached 20-metre (66-foot) long L-shaped pathway on one side and a curved 7.4-metre (24-foot) pathway on the opposite side. Mature corn is approximately 9 feet (2.7 metres) tall with one-inch (2.5-centimeter) thick stalks. Some stalks were bent (curved) near the ground with little or no damage."
The second formation "was snipped or 'sliced off' just above the ground to just over a foot (0.3 metres) above the ground" and was located "on the other side of the highway in a similar field" with brambles running along the roadway. 1914: GUARDIAN ANGEL OF THE COLDSTREAM GUARDS
Among the paranormal phenomena of the early Twentieth Century are the numerous and strange reports of "the angels of Mons."
During the opening weeks of World War I, on August 23, 1914, the Allies were under heavy German attack in western Belgium. General Sir John French, commander of the British Expeditionary Force (BEF), learned that General Lanrezac's Fifth French Army was retreating from the Ardennes back into France. The BEF had no choice but to follow suit and "accept the hazards of a long retreat."
"The BEF withdrew skillfully without the loss of one gun, but the troops were puzzled and worried by a retirement that made little sense to them for they thought they were winning."
"When the British reached the Mormal Forest...they split into two corps and passed on either side of it, not knowing there was a sheltered road through it that would have afforded cover to at least one corps. It was during part of this movement that" the Coldstream Guards "experienced their astonishing encounter with the Angel of Mons."
"When the (BEF) retreat started, the Coldstream Guards were the last to be withdrawn, and in the half-light of a false dawn they became lost and wandered about trying to make contact" with other Allied forces. "When it was obvious they were completely out of touch, they dug in, determined to make another stand with the daylight."
"'Wot the 'ell are we retreatin' for?' one Guardsman is said to have demanded."
"'How should I know? We're probably goin' to attack 'em in the rear.'"
"'I was having a glorious time,' another grumbled, 'Just like knocking down a set of skittles.'"
"'Well, it looks like we're in a fine mess 'ere. Nobody seems to know where we are.'"
"At that moment, when one of the Guardsmen looked up to make certain his digging (foxhole in the USA--J.T.) lined up with that of the next man, he noticed a warm glow just ahead. For a second he thought someone was moving about with a farm lantern."
"'Who's that messin' about out there, carrying a light, the damn fool!?'"
"'Some bloody-fool French farmer.'"
"'We ain't in France. This is Belgium, so they tell me.'"
"'Who knows?...Coo! Look at that!'"
"The glowing nimbus moved in closer and the Coldstreamers perceived the dim outline of a female figure. As it became more distinct, they decided they were looking at an angel. It looked exactly like any angel they had ever seen in a regimental chapel: tall, slim and wearing a white flowing gown. She had a gold band around her hair and (Middle) Eastern sandals on her feet, a pair of white wings were folded against her slim back."
"'Crikey!' one of the Guardsmen gasped, 'What sort of game is this?'"
"'She's beckoning to us,' another muttered slowly."
"'What's she want?' the first Guardsman inquired tonelessly."
"No question about it, the angel was inviting them to follow her. She moved closer to the digging and her signal was more insistent."
"No one remembers who first crawled out of the narrow slots, but one by one the Coldstreamers lined up, after hauling out their rifles and entrenching tools, and followed the glowing figure across an open field."
"'Did you ever read about anything like this in your Sunday-school papers?' a puzzled Tommy asked over his shoulder."

"'Keep moving, and ask no questions.'"
"The angel moved on, her right hand still making that inviting gesture until she came to a half on the upper rim of a sunken road."
"The Guardsmen looked down in surprise. 'How did she know the road was here? It wasn't here (before) when we tried to get out of this mess,' one of them said, 'Bloody funny to me.'"
"'You're right, chum. I was leading the patrol that went out this way. We was lookin' for a pathway like this, but it wasn't here then,' a young corporal insisted."
"'Well, 'ere it is now. Come on.'"
"The vision led the way until all of the Coldstreamers reached the end of the sunken road, then she floated up the bank and pointed toward a covering copse (cluster of woods) a dozen yards away. She smiled--and vanished."
"Not questioning this strange visitation, the Guardsmen were gratified to escape and join the other British forces. Within a few days, the story had trickled all along the front, and for a time the Angel of Mons was accepted as a friendly token of the Almighty."
"What made the story more puzzling was that no one ever found that sunken road again."
Both the Coldstream Guards and the Royal Engineers pored over every map of western Belgium that they could lay hands on, even ancient maps held by the University of Antwerp. But they could not find a map showing the mysterious sunken road revealed by the angel.
"Today, no one can explain how the Coldstream Guards escaped at Mons, but they did."
