What is the function of body hair?
It has different functions depending on the area of the body.
On the head, it protects against solar radiation and cold.
On the eyebrows, it prevents sweat from dripping down into the eyes.
In the ears, hair and earwax act as a barrier to trap dirt particles, small insects, and bacteria.
In the nostrils, hair works as a natural filter that prevents dust particles from entering the respiratory system. This is why the famous "mucus" forms on the outer part of the nose.
In the armpits, hair protects the skin from friction between the arms and the body.
Eyelashes protect the eyes.
In the intimate region, for women, it serves as a first line of defense for the vaginal canal, preventing the entry of substances that could cause infections or diseases. For men, it no longer has much function today, but in the past, it helped protect against the cold.
As for the rest of the body hair on arms, legs, back, etc., many scientists believe it is simply a remnant from our ancestors, who were much hairier.
