1. Quick Presentation Skills Tip

Keystone Effect by Tom Antion

When a projector is not exactly on a level plain with a
projection screen the projected image is not symmetrical. Most of
the time the projector is lower than the screen so the top of the
image is wider than the bottom of the image and looks like a
"keystone." Keystones are the top stone in an archway that holds
the arch together sort of like a wedge.

Many tripod type screens have the ability to tilt forward at the
top which adjusts for the keystone effect. Look for a notched out
piece of metal that points toward the audience at the top of the
screen where the screen hooks when it is unrolled from its
holder.

Note: You are usually stuck when the screen is mounted on the
wall or drops down from the ceiling

Trick for ceiling mounted screens -- Tie a heavy weight to the
bottom of the screen and pull it back, which has the same effect
as tilting the top forward.

Many LCD projectors can adjust for keystone electronically. Make
sure you read the onscreen menu, or heaven forbid, "the manual"
to learn how to use this function.

Selling at the Back of the Room by Tom Antion

21 Tips to Skyrocket your Back of the Room Sales Part 1 of 3

1. Be clear about what you're doing . . .

before you get on that stage. Most people throw selling in as an
afterthought and sometimes even forget to sell at all. I'm not
saying to forget about giving great value, I'm saying you should
multitask here. I'm always thinking of creating an event where
everyone gets good value and I walk away with lots of money. Just
giving good value alone will not sell at the back of the room.

2. Keep your ego out of it.

Trust me, I can go for the standing ovation any time I want. But
if I'm there to sell, I don't usually do it because it interferes
with my selling process. And if you want to know how good you
really are (many speakers can't handle this) Let the audience
vote with their wallets.

3. Get over the embarrassment of selling.

All the best known speakers sell. In fact, their products helped
to make them "best known" speakers because it spread their name
and Ideas around the world. You are actually doing the audience a
favor making your knowledge available so they can take it home
and really absorb it.

4. Build credibility.

You do this in many ways. Sending good pre program materials for
their program. Provide a good written introduction. Actually do
what you are talking about. Don't stand up there and give a book
report and expect to sell much. Get other speakers talking about
you by trading mentions. Tell them how you learned what you
learned so they have a reason to listen to you.

5. Better likability factor or become a total jerk.

- Both sell Being likable doesn't mean being wishy / washy.
Strong opinions that you can support create higher sales. Go
early and stay late. Genuinely talk to people. Have fun with them
on stage. If you're going to be a jerk, go all the way with it
and make it your schtick.

6. Move quickly and get them involved.

Speak so that the people have time enough to understand your
concepts, but fast enough so they know they will need to review
it again to actually do what you're telling them. Use involvement
techniques like getting them on stage with you, etc. "Wake 'em Up

7. Know your audience.

Deliver your talk at a level just above theirs so that they have
hope that they can do what you are talking about. If you project
too far in the future, the audience members feel they could never
get to that point so there is no reason in buying your stuff to
help them.

be secret then :) on how to build need for your products all
throughout your presentations.

I'll show you how to close the deal and about the
little known isolation technique that can triple your sales in
just a few minutes.

3. Humor Technique
=====================================================
Role Reversal by Tom Antion

This technique is always good for a laugh and sometimes brings
down the house.

Invite two people on stage that have opposite roles. It works
particularly well with husband/wife , boyfriend/girlfriend,
employee/boss

Have them play the role of the other person, i.e., the husband
acts as if he is the wife and vice versa. You could have some
funny props like a wig to put on the guy and give the wife a
handyman's tool belt, etc. (In many cases you will find it hard
to continue at this point because everyone will be laughing so
hard just from the site on stage.)

Brainstorm questions to have the pair ask each other and have
them answer as if they were the other person. Write these out for
both of them.

Example:
Have the husband (who is playing the part of the wife), ask the
wife who is playing the part of the husband, "where do you think
you are going with those golf clubs?" Either write funny answers
for them like, "I was going out to the garden to use them to hold
up the tomato plants" or just let them ad lib.

You could have competition between pairs for the best answers and
give out prizes.

This is a very fun technique, but you really need to brainstorm
on some funny questions and answers in case the people on stage
aren't fast enough to think up funny stuff on their own.

Make it Easy by Tom Antion

If you want other people to spread your name around the planet,
why not make it really easy for them.

You can give your advocates websites that look like they belong
to them. You can give them articles and interviews that promote
your cause. You can give them flyers and brochures to distribute.

The best way to really give them an incentive to promote you is
if you embed an affiliate link for them in the promotional piece.
It could be that a link on a web page tracks the referral from
your advocate or you could give them custom printed materials or
labels that has a website that only belongs to them.

Of course, you would only do this for your best advocates that
have shown the ability to produce, but the little extra effort
can pay off in lots of extra sales and speaking engagements.
