1. Quick Presentation Skills Tip
=====================================================
A Breath of fresh air by Tom Antion

I always want to give you the inside scoop and tiny nuances that
help make an overall great presentation. Sometimes what I tell
you has nothing to do with your speech. This is one of those
times.

Make sure you have some breath mints with you on stage or in your
pocket. I've gone up to congratulate people on a great speech and
about fell over because of their bad breath.

You would think all that wind you are blowing on stage would
disperse bad breath, but for some reason after speaking for an
hour or so, every foul smelling odor from your stomach wants to
leap forth to your audience. It may be because you just had lunch
with the group and didn't have time to brush your teeth, or it
could be just because of the constant rush of air from your
belly.

This doesn't matter too much if you are far from them, but if you
bring them up on stage with you, or if someone wants to talk to
you afterward, it can really reflect poorly on you.

I'm sorry to have to tell you this one, but one bigshot speaker I
saw had nose hairs sticking out so far you could braid them. He
had the nerve to hit on the women in the audience as they came up
to talk to him. I can only imagine what they were thinking about
this big jerk.

So, watch the hygiene. You don't want to negate a great speech
with poor personal habits.

Selling at the Back of the Room by Tom Antion

21 Tips to Skyrocket your Back of the Room Sales Part 2 of 3
See part one at
http://www.antion.com/ezine/v5n6.txt

8. Build need

And don't wait until the end to try to do so. You use phraseology
and techniques throughout the presentation in between your
regular good content to establish the need for your products and
have that need highly ingrained before you make your closing.

9. Use Success Stories and Testimonials

These help you prove the value of what you have. You can read
them out loud or project them. Sometimes people that believe in
you are in the audience and can give you a live testimonial.

10. Use your own products

This is an extremely powerful technique where you are using your
own products as part of your speech or training session. There
are many ways to do this and they all have the audience members
taking ownership of the product before you even mention it's for
sale. It also lets you sell when you aren't allowed to sell
because the audience members ask if they can buy. You are not
selling.

11. Hold a Drawing

This is where I tell people about my products because I have an
excuse to talk about them . . . The winner of the drawing should
know what he/she won right? :) I also build my ezine database
this way too. Make sure your wording from the stage gets their
permission to email to them.

12. Limit your offers

Only one offer in short presentations. In longer presentations
spread out your offers. I use only one offer and a big upsell.

13. Product Packages

Bundle physical products together to get your individual ticket
prices up. Some people have been successful selling very
inexpensive items and getting just about everyone to buy them,
but I want people that can afford higher priced products so I can
sell them even bigger products and services when I follow up with
them over time. Calling your bundles "systems" or "kits" seems to
work well. Adding consulting, mentoring etc. by phone can be very
lucrative, but you need some physical product to start with. This
is not difficult to create and an audio tape can literally be
produced in a couple hours.

14. Add a Guarantee

This is called "risk reversal" so that the person can say to
themselves, "if this is no good, I can always return it." They
can say the same thing when they carry it home to their spouse
and sometimes spousal approval is the biggest obstacle of all in
your selling.

In Part 3

I'll show you how to close the deal and about the
little known isolation technique that can triple your sales in
just a few minutes.

Want the entire story right now?

I taped one of my best teleseminars ever a couple months ago and
this time I even give you a choice of tape or CD. You'll get two
full hours of all the nitty gritty details to skyrocket your back
of the room sales AND you get an immediately downloadable
transcript of the tapes.

3. Humor Technique
=====================================================
Quotations by Tom Antion

Quotations are safe to use because if the quotation is not funny,
it doesn't matter since you are just reciting it. You did not
write it. It can still be used to make your point. You can use
the power of the name of the person who did write it. People will
be more likely to laugh or at least chuckle if a famous person
made up the quotation.

If you are not sure to whom the quotation belongs, it does not
matter at all. Unless I am absolutely certain who said something,
I always give myself an out. I usually say I BELIEVE it was
____________ who said. This keeps me out of trouble for
attributing the quotation to the wrong person.

Sometimes I say, "My great, great grandpappy used to say," or "my
old aunt Maude used to say." However, if you know for sure who
said something and their name carries weight, go ahead and use
it. There are literally thousands and thousands of notable
quotations available to you. To give you some examples, I'll
dedicate the speaker humor section below to quotations.

Academics and purists don't read the next two paragraphs

(Now that they aren't reading I can tell you about real world
stuff for the humorous speaker. The purists will claim I'm
committing some kind of mortal sin.)

Don't feel bad about twisting the quotations to meet your
situation. Mark Twain will never say a word about it. Neither
will anyone else if you introduce your quotation by saying,
"Someone once said," or "My great, great, grandpappy used to
say." Then change the quotation around any way that suits you.

4. Speaker Marketing Tip
=====================================================
Contract Marketing by Tom Antion

I learned this concept years ago from Dottie Walters (check out
her Magnificent Marketing Symposium which is coming up in just a
few weeks)
http://www.speakandgrowrich.com/s_2003_mm_tom.aspx

Smart speakers attempt to maximize the amount of money they make
at each speaking engagement. Contract marketing is one way to do
it.

The idea is to put a mention of other products or services in
your contract / agreement after you have landed the speaking
engagement.

It could go something like this, "Additional learning materials
available to match this presentation."

You would put this in a prominent place in your agreement.

Many organizations have budgets to buy educational materials for
their members or employees. Why shouldn't they buy them from you?

You might say, "Tom, why don't you just discuss additional
product sales up front with the meeting planner and put the deal
right in your contract?" The reason is that the meeting planner
doesn't always know how much budget that is available for this
until all the top priorities are under contract.

When the final review of the contracts occurs your reminder in
your contract could land a very big deal doubling or tripling the
value of your engagement.

My cornball story by Tom Antion
I know it sounds corny and it sounds just like the ads you see in
business opportunity magazines, but 15 years ago I was broke,
injured, and living on a mattress in a vacant house. Now I'm a
multi-millionaire with my own mansion (not one I borrowed to take
a promo picture in front of). What made the difference? -- The
