Part One

At the end of the introductory video, approach the car and click on the passenger side window, then add it to the case file. Stay on this side of the car and click on the door to enter, then zoom in on the key in the ignition—take it and add it to the file.

Now zoom in on the glove compartment and open it using the key you just collected: you must take the money! To see what else you can find to further your investigation, zoom in again on the glove compartment and take the victim’s ID card. Exit the car from the passenger side, then interrogate the doorman and ask him the following questions:

“When did you discover the body?”

“If you’re the doorman here, why were you coming from inside the building?”

“Did you hear a gunshot while you were upstairs?”

“Did you notice anybody unusual outside the building?”

“Have you ever seen the victim around here before?”

“Who lives in apartment 4-B?”

“Have you seen Linda Keller today?”

Press the spacebar and drag the car window into the items to send to the lab.

Now select the map and go to Linda Keller, asking her the following questions:

“Do you know a William Ramos?”

“Were you expecting Ramos to come by your apartment?”

“What did you do for Mr. Ramos?”

“How long have you worked for Dr. Ramos?”

“How much did Ramos owe you?”

“Did you ever go to Ramos' home or office?”

“Were you waiting for Ramos here all evening?”

“How did the doorman miss you entering the building?”

At the end of the interrogation, add Linda Keller to the file.
Select the map and go to the victim's apartment, talk to Ramos' wife, and ask her the following questions:

“When was the last time you spoke to your husband?”

“Where did your husband work?”

“Did your husband work late often?”

“Who would know more about his stress at work?”

“Were you aware your husband was in Midtown carrying five thousand dollars in cash?”

“If you don’t mind my asking, how were things between you and your husband?”

Add Celia Ramon to the file. Select the map and go to Diana Quinn, then ask her the following questions:

“Did you work closely with Ramos?”

“Was your research with Dr. Ramos part of some kind of secret project?”

“Is it possible somebody else might have resented his idiosyncrasies?”

“Why was Dr. Ramos in Midtown yesterday with five thousand dollars?”

“Who’s Donald Kent?”

Once you’ve asked all the questions, go to Donald Kent and talk to him.

“When was the last time you saw Dr. Ramos?”

“How was progress at Avery Labs?”

“Can you tell us anything about the doctor’s personal life?”

“Is it possible Ramos’ late night last night could have been about the affair he was having?”

“Which hotel was he staying at?” Add him to the file.

At the end of the dialogue, go to the crime lab and, after listening to Kathleen McDonnell, go right and zoom in on the desk: read the autopsy report and add it to the case file. Take the bullet fragments and the hotel key, then select the map and go to the J. Robbie Hotel. Take the key from your inventory, enter the room, and zoom in on the round table.

Examine the invitation next to the ice bucket and note the number at the bottom of the page, then turn around and zoom in on the glass on the nightstand. Once you’ve added it to the case file, have it analyzed by the lab, then go to the wardrobe and zoom in on the safe.

Don’t worry, the combination is not hard to find! Just enter the number on the invitation (2439): press the enter button and add the check to the file, then drag it into the folder for lab analysis. Select the map and go to Philip Wright and ask him the following questions:

“When was the last time you talked to Dr. Ramos?”

“Did Dr. Ramos ever talk about pressures at work?”

“Why was Ramos keeping his project a secret?”

“Did Ramos give you any details about this breakthrough project?”

“Why was Ramos going behind Kent’s back to seek investors?”

“Was Ramos involved with anyone besides his wife?”

At the end of the dialogue, add him to the file and go to Martin Tanner, then interrogate him.

“What was your relationship with the victim?”

“How did you choose Ramos as an investment?”

“Isn’t $20,000 a lot of money to dabble with?”

“Was Dr. Ramos soliciting investments from others?”

Add Martin Tanner to the file and have him monitored by clicking on the appropriate tab. Go to the crime lab and talk to Paul Kim about the results of the analyses done on the glass and the check found in the hotel and on the victim's car window, then read the results and add them to the file. Go to Diana Quinn and ask her the following questions:

“Were you in Dr. Ramos' hotel room the night he was murdered?”

Select the glass from your inventory, then ask the woman the following questions:

“How long has the affair been going on?”

“Did Dr. Ramos know his wife suspected him of cheating?”

“Did you make demands on Dr. Ramos?”

“Did you have any interest in cashing in on Dr. Ramos' secret project?”

Add her answers to the file.

Return to the victim’s apartment.

“Why did you lie to us about your husband’s affair?”

“Were you angry enough to divorce your husband?”

“With the insurance payout, isn’t your husband worth more to you now that he’s dead?”

Select the case file and click on the yellow tab, drag the photo of Donald Kent, Philip Wright, Celia Ramos, Martin Tanner, and Linda Keller, click on the “submit” button, and you’ll get a search warrant for the lab where the victim worked. You will automatically find yourself at the location, zoom in on the paper shredder.

Your task will be to piece the shredded paper together as shown in the image; you can flip and move the strips of paper (photo 1) and (photo 2). The final result is shown in the following image (photo 3). Add the note to the file and have it analyzed by the lab, then examine the victim's desk and zoom in on his laptop. Look at the screen and add it to the file, then have it analyzed by the district research office.

Select the map and go to the district, talk to Scott Donovan about the results of the research done on Martin Tanner, and after reading the report, add it to the file. Go to the crime lab, read and collect the results of the analysis done on the anonymous note, then go to Martin Tanner’s house.

“What did Ramos have that you wanted back?”

“Why the forceful tone of the note?”

“How could you expect to get any money back once you’d invested it?”

“Why was there such a rush to get your money back?”

“Where was your husband the night Dr. Ramos was killed?”

At the end of the dialogue, select the map and go to Shirley Cho and talk to her.

“Did you work as an accountant for Avery Labs?”

“Why did you get fired exactly?”

“Do you know anything about an investment being refunded to Martin and Cindy Tanner?”

“Do you know anything about Linda Keller?”

“Was there any documentation on what Keller was doing for Dr. Ramos?”

At the end of the discussion, Shirley will give you the key to Dr. Ramos’ desk; take it and select Avery lab on the map. Approach Dr. Ramos’ desk and open the drawer with the key Shirley gave you, take the document and return to talk to Linda Keller.

“What can you tell us about the research project Ramos was working on?”

“Why not tell us about this before?”

“How much were you getting paid?”

“When was the experiment supposed to start?”

“If you haven’t been paid, how are you making ends meet?”

At the end of the dialogue, select the case file and click on the yellow tab to have Linda Keller monitored. Return to the district and enter Scott Donovan’s office to discuss the results of the research done on the victim's laptop. You need to decode the email: the only way to succeed is to type the text on your PC keyboard (photos 4 and 5). The final text of the email should be as follows (photo 6). Add the email to the file, then go to talk to Donald Kent.

“How long has Avery Labs been working on cloning human beings?”

“Did you know Ramos was taking this project to outside investors?”

“How close was the cloning project to completion?”

“Is it possible that Dr. Ramos completed successful cloning tests and you didn’t need him anymore?”

“Was Dr. Ramos ready to start human testing with the cloning project?”

At the end of the dialogue, go to the district and enter Mark Rawlins’ office, read the report on Linda Keller, and take it. You need a warrant to search Linda Keller’s apartment, now click on the yellow tab and drag the following items: Linda Keller, the document you found in the victim's office, and Mark Rawlins’ report, then click on the “submit” button.

You will automatically find yourself in the victim's apartment; take the CD on the table with the lamp, zoom in on the box on the right and take the flyer on top of it. Have the CD analyzed by the lab and have research done on the flyer. When the results are ready, go to the crime lab, read the results of the tests done on the CD, and take them.

Return to the district and enter Scott Donovan’s office, read the results of the tests done on the flyer, and take them. Go to Linda Keller’s (Brenda Lyons’) apartment and interrogate her.

“Why are you in such a hurry to leave town?”

Select the report from the flyer analysis found in her apartment from your inventory.

“Did you target Dr. Ramos’ cloning project for some kind of sabotage?”

“Would you say the mission was successful?”

“How do you expect us to believe you had nothing to do with Dr. Ramos’ murder?”

“Why would Martin Tanner call you and threaten you?”

At the end of the interrogation, Linda/Brenda will give you the answering machine tape; take it. Go to talk to Martin Tanner, then select the recorder and ask him the following questions:

“How do you know Linda Keller?”

“Why did you threaten Keller?”

“Did you threaten Dr. Ramos to get him to return your investment money?”

“Were you in Linda Keller’s neighborhood the night of the murder?”

“What time did you get to work on the night of the murder?”

Now go to talk to Donny Morales.

“What does Martin Tanner do for you?”

“During the night of the murder, what time did Tanner arrive for work?”

“Did Tanner seem upset or distracted?”

“Notice anything else unusual that night?”

“Does Tanner have a work station?”

Add Donny Morales to the file, and at the end of the conversation, the man will approach and open Martin Tanner’s locker: examine it and take the work boots, then look at the open door and take the photograph. Send the boots and the photo to the crime lab and, when the results are ready, go to the lab, read them, and take them.

At this point, you need a warrant to search Martin Tanner’s apartment. Click on the appropriate yellow tab and drag the following items: Martin Tanner’s photo, the anonymous note, the report from the note analysis, the result from the check analysis, Tanner’s work boots, and the report from the boot analysis. At this point, click on the “submit” button, and you will automatically find yourself in his apartment.

Head to the kitchen and take the American Motors document. It’s time to obtain an arrest warrant; click on the appropriate tab and drag the following items: Martin Tanner, the anonymous note, the results from the note analysis, the results from the check analysis, Tanner’s work boots, the report from the boot analysis, the lab results from the analysis performed on the victim’s car window, and finally the lab report from the analysis done on the photo you took from Tanner’s locker, click on the “submit” button. Now enjoy the video that concludes the first part of the game.

Part Two

First, request a psychiatric evaluation on Martin Tanner and drag his photo onto the appropriate page. Put Diana Quinn under surveillance and have research done on the document you found in Tanner’s apartment. When you receive a message on your cell phone, go to the district and talk to Scott Donovan, then read the report on the research done on the document and take it.

Now go to the psychiatric office, and after reading the psychiatrist’s report, add the report to the case file, then go talk to Dr. Richard Blythe.

“Did you treat the Tanners’ son after he was injured in an accident?”

“What was Jamie’s prognosis?”

“What did you do for Jamie?”

“What did you recommend the Tanners do?”

“Did Jamie die before Mr. Tanner was able to contact Dr. Ramos?”

Add the doctor’s answers to the file. After the brief video, check the message Scott Donovan sent you.

Go to Josh Berman and ask him the following questions.

“Why would Martin and Cindy Tanner have an American Motors financial report?”

Select the research report on the document found in Tanner’s apartment from your inventory and continue with the dialogue.

“What were the terms of the settlement?”

“What were the Tanners holding out for?”

“Why did American Motors settle if the Tanner case had little going for it?”

“If the Tanners were on a crusade, why would they settle for so little?”

It’s time to prepare for the trial. Click on the tab labeled “subpoena” in the case file and choose the following witnesses: Brenda Lyons, Donny Morales, Dr. Richard Blythe, and Shirley Cho. Drag the following items to bring to court as evidence: the anonymous note and the results of the research done on it, the check and the results of the research done on the check, the autopsy report, the bullet fragments, the answering machine tape, the lab results from the car window analysis, the lab analysis of the photo, and finally, the report on the research done on Martin Tanner. At this point, click on the “Go to Trial” button and choose Brenda Lyons from the witness list.

“Ms. Lyons, can you identify this voice?”

At this point, the defense will object; the response you need to choose is the following.

“The protection against self-incrimination does not apply since it will be used for identification purposes, and not for testimony.”

Faced with this response, the judge will allow you to proceed: good, ask Brenda Lyons the following new question: “The protection against self-incrimination does not apply since it will be used for identification purposes, and not for testimony.”

Now Duncan will question Brenda, and you will need to object to a couple of questions. To object, you will need to click on the raised hand when it becomes active. The questions from Duncan that you need to object to are the following.

“So you killed Dr. Ramos to rid the world of another bio-Nazi!”

“Admit it. You jumped to conclusions when Mr. Tanner was simply warning you of these dangers when he left that message!”

Choose the next witness from the list: good, call Donny Morales.

“Mr. Morales, how do you know the defendant?”

“Did Mr. Tanner take time off from work during the past year?”

“What were the circumstances of Mr. Tanner’s return to Airways?”

“When did the defendant arrive for work on the night in question?”

“Do you remember anything about Mr. Tanner’s behavior that evening?”

When Duncan questions Morales, object to the following question.

“Were you that callous not to see that the loss of his child was the only reason he was unresponsive?”

Now choose Dr. Blythe from the witness list and question him.

“Dr. Blythe, how do you know the defendant?”

“What happened to Jamie?”

“Did you ever speak with the defendant about Dr. Ramos?”

“Did the Tanners talk with you about Dr. Ramos?”

“Did you continue to work with the Tanners?”

Choose Shirley Cho from the witness list.

“Ms. Cho, were you an accountant for Avery Labs?”

“Why were you let go?”

“Were you aware that Mr. Tanner was investing money with Dr. Ramos?”

“When did you last speak with Mr. Tanner?”

“Do you recall Dr. Ramos returning any funds to Mr. Tanner?”

When attorney Duncan questions Shirley, do not object to any of his questions.

Choose Paul Kim from the witness list, and some topics will appear; click on the topic “fingerprints found on the window and the photograph,” then ask the following question:

“Did you test both the photograph from Tanner’s locker and Dr. Ramos’ car for fingerprints?”

Now choose the second available topic and ask the following question:

“Did you compare the handwriting on the check written by Martin Tanner to the anonymous note to Dr. Ramos?”

When it’s Duncan’s turn, object to the following question:

“Mr. Kim, isn’t it true that the prints on the victim’s car were left by my client months before the victim’s death?”

Choose Scott Donovan from the witness list and start with the results of the research done on Martin Tanner and ask the following question:

“Could you explain to the jury your findings from the background check of Martin Tanner’s financial state?”

Now call Detective Briscoe to the stand, choose the anonymous note as the first topic, then question the detective.

“What can you tell the court about the handwritten note entered into evidence?”

Choose the answering machine recording as the second topic and ask the detective a new question.

“How did the police come to possess the answering machine message entered into evidence?”

Finally, select the check as a topic and ask the following question:

“Where did you find the check from Mr. Tanner to Dr. Ramos entered into evidence?”

Call Kathleen McDonnell to the stand and choose the autopsy report as the first topic, then ask the following question:

“Can you explain to the jury what you found while conducting the autopsy of Dr. Ramos?”

Choose the bullet fragments as the second topic and continue the questioning.

“What can you tell the court about these bullet fragments?”

Click on the “Rest case” button, then click yes.

Go to the police station and enter Mark Rawlins’ office about Diana Quinn (the office is on the right), read the report, then go talk to her and ask the following questions:

“What is the nature of your relationship with Mr. Pappas and the Paragons?”

“Were you receptive to Mr. Pappas’ overtures, even though you worked at Avery?”

“Weren’t you concerned about how the Paragons planned to apply their work in genetic engineering?”

“Where did Dr. Ramos leave his cloning project at the time he was killed?”

Add Diana Quinn to the file and go to Arias Pappas.

“What was the Paragon’s relationship with William Ramos?”

“Were you working with Ramos to clone Jamie Tanner?”

“Why did Ramos pass on your offer to collaborate?”

“Did Ramos’ attitude make you angry?”

“Did you have any contact with the Tanners?”

“Why did Ramos cancel his cloning project with the Tanners?”

At the end of the dialogue, add him to the file as well.

Select the map and go to court; when the confirmation window appears, click “Yes.”

Duncan will question Donald Kent, so object to the following question:

“And you were infuriated when you found out Ramos sought outside investors?”

When it’s your turn, ask the following questions.

“What is the current state of Avery Labs?”

“The cloning breakthroughs made by Dr. Ramos, where are they today?”

“When you met with Ramos on the night of the murder, what did you talk about?”

“With Ramos dead, how much money will you make?”

At this point, Duncan will question Celia Ramos: object to the following questions.

“When did you publicly confront your husband about his affair with Dr. Quinn?”

“Did you want revenge so badly you murdered your husband?”

When it’s your turn to question her, ask the following questions.

“Did you and your husband discuss the possibility of a divorce?”

“Was waiting to file for divorce honestly about keeping the relationship alive or about tracking down hidden assets?”

“Now that William is dead, have you uncovered all the assets?”

“What have you gained from his death?”

Now Duncan will question Diana Quinn, object to the questions we have listed below.

“And you were infuriated when he told you he wasn’t divorcing his wife, weren’t you?”

“That was when you told them about the Paragon Society, wasn’t it?”

At this point, question Diana Quinn.

“Did you discuss with Dr. Ramos why he decided not to work with the Paragons?”

“Did Dr. Ramos discuss with you why he chose not to work with the Tanners?”

“Did the Tanners express any concern about all the payments they’d made to Dr. Ramos?”

“Did you speak with the Tanners on the day of the murder?”

Duncan will question Cindy Tanner; do not object to any of his questions. When it’s your turn to question her, ask the questions we’ve indicated.

“What were you and your husband fighting about before the phone conversation with Diana Quinn?”

“What did you two do after the fight?”

“Since you hadn’t received your money from Dr. Ramos, why didn’t you contact a lawyer?”

“Why call Ramos daily, send him threatening letters, and then assume the check was in the mail?”

Now Duncan will question Martin Tanner, so object to the following questions.

“And you had a cordial conversation about this with him, didn’t you?”

“You had absolutely no reason to want Dr. Ramos dead, did you?”

When it’s your turn to question him, follow our advice.

“If Ramos was a hero to you, why did you write him a threatening note?”

“Why not say 'Please return my money now or I’ll contact a lawyer?”

“How did your fingerprint end up on Dr. Ramos’ car door?”

“Why did Dr. Ramos visit you at work?”

After watching the video, go back to talk to Dr. Richard Blythe.

“How did you come to refer the Tanners to Dr. Ramos?”

“Can you think of any medical reason Dr. Ramos might have had for discontinuing the cloning experiment with the Tanners?”

“Would Dr. Ramos have to be an expert in every related scientific field in order to ensure optimum conditions for cloning?”

At the end of the conversation, a new location will appear on the map: Dr. Rita Miller’s office. Go and talk to her.

“Have you had any recent contact with Dr. Ramos?”

“Anything unusual about the samples Ramos sent you?”

“Why did Dr. Ramos request the tests?”

“Where are the samples now?”

“How can we find out if Ramos picked up the samples?”

At the end of the dialogue, the doctor will give you a document, take it, and add her to the case file. After the video, go back to talk to Donny Morales.

“Can you tell us more about Tanner’s movements on the night of the murder?”

“Do you know Cindy Tanner?”

“What did Cindy ask you about exactly?”

Now go talk to Burt Lasky and follow our advice.

“Do you service Airways Delivery?”

“When was your most recent pickup?”

After talking to the man, take a look around, grab the large pliers near the white refrigerator, then zoom in and take the crowbar resting on the colored machine. Approach the van with the “Airways Delivery” sign, open the back of the van using the crowbar in your inventory. Zoom in on the folder and add it to the case file, then examine and take the radiator.

Zoom in on the metal box, open it with the pliers, and take the gun inside the box, then have it analyzed by the crime lab. When the results are ready, go to the lab, read the results of the tests done on the gun, and take them.

Click on the yellow tab labeled “rebuttal,” choose Dr. Miller as a witness, and select the lab results on the gun. Click on the “Go to trial” button and call Paul Kim to the stand, choose the only available topic, and ask Paul Kim the following questions:

“Mr. Kim, have you examined the handgun known as a .38 special entered into evidence?”

“Were there any fingerprints on the gun?”

Call Rita Miller to the stand and ask the questions we’ve listed.

“What is your expertise in medicine, Dr. Miller?”

“Did you run any tests recently for Dr. Ramos?”

“Can you tell us about the disease?”

“How did Dr. Ramos react to your findings?”

“Can you tell us about the log sheet from your laboratory entered into evidence?”

When Duncan objects to this last question, choose the response to give to the judge from the one listed below.

“This document should be admitted as an exception to the hearsay rule since it’s an official business record.”

Continue questioning Rita Miller as follows.

“Could you explain the signature on the line below that?”

“What is 'Bio 8?”

When Duncan questions Rita Miller, object to the following question:

“Did you intend to mislead this jury that this sample was from Jamie Tanner?”

At this point, all that’s left is to watch the final video and listen to the judge’s verdict: congratulations, you’ve won the game!
