The Smallest Inhabited Island in the World

Just Room Enough, also known as Hub Island, is part of the Thousand Islands, a group of 1,864 islands located in the Saint Lawrence River, at the border between Canada and the United States.

Just Room Enough is under the jurisdiction of the state of New York and is therefore situated within U.S. territory.

The island, owned by the Sizeland family who purchased it in the 1950s, is known for being the smallest inhabited island in the world, with an area of about 303.6 m². It hosts a single house, a tree, some shrubs, and a small beach.

After purchasing it, the new owners ironically named the island "Just Room Enough," highlighting its tiny size. Even today, Just Room Enough is considered a must-see destination and is the most photographed spot in the area.

Dopo l'acquisto, i nuovi proprietari battezzarono ironicamente l'isola Just Room Enough che in italiano significa "spazio appena sufficiente".

Thank you! I've corrected the date in the article. However, some websites list January 1980 as the date of death.
