Some of the available files come in - what is called - a package. If
you request such package you will automatically receive all necesarry
files. The zipxxe (XXencoded ZIP) files that you will receive must be
concatenated into one large ZIPXXE file by means of the COPY command.
(example : copy x.zipxxe1 + x.zipxxe2 x.zipxxe)
To use this large ZIPXXE file you must first XXdecode (We recommend our
own version of XXdecode which works under OS/2) and UNZIP (We recommend
PKZIP also under OS/2) it.
Note: Use PKUNZIP -d to unzip !!
These files are distributed AS IS, we can not guarantee anything about
their working.

" For a complete list of all OS/2 files available at LISTSERV@BLEKUL11
get the OS2INDEX PACKAGE. "
This is a new feature on our listserv. Because the original OS2 FILELIST
(which you can still request) is well over 100 KB, and because this is a
limit on mail files at some sites, we offer you now the possibility to
get the OS2INDEX package which contains a zipped version of our filelist.

Subject: FILECUT EXEC for VM/CMS
Hello. Here is a short utility that complements FILECAT EXEC, and
I thought it might be of interest. FILECUT EXEC divides a large
file into smaller pieces, and allows for a file to be inserted
either to the top or bottom of these pieces (so that, for example,
you can put an RFC822 header, and punch it directly to the mailer).
It can also insert a comment line on top and at the bottom of the
pieces it creates, which looks like: ---BEGIN Part nn of fn.ft----
and ---END--- at the bottom.
The files created with this utility can be concantinated using FILECAT.

Subject: TCP/IP version 1.2 for OS/2
I recently received a copy of TCP/IP v1.2. I attempted to install it on
OS/2 v2 r6.177 along with NDIS support from the LAPS disk. I followed the
instructions in SE13.TXT, but I was unable to ping my own interface. I
first thought was that I incorrectly modified the config.sys, neglecting to
complete the list of instructions properly. IBM Canada Support Centre
claimed "TCP/IP v1.2 for OS/2 is supported under OS/2 v2.0, but only the GA
version which is due out in March."
Is anyone successfully running TCP/IP v1.2 with 6.177 code using the NDIS
drivers?
My standard environment is a Model 80 running OS/2 v1.3 EE and TCP/IP v1.1.
Also, I am networked via an IBM PC Network Adapter II/A. I would like to
move to v2.0 for longer periods of time but I would need TCP/IP v1.2
operational to receive mail. I am currently locked into receiving my mail
via TCP/IP v1.1.
Thank you.

Subject: extended attributes problem
Hi....
I'm running OS/2 1.21 dual boot with Compaq DOS 5.0 on a Compaq 386/25
Deskpro with 9MB RAM. My problem is that I have corrupted some
extended attribute on the hardisk and I can't get the OS/2 chkdsk to
release the disk to me to run chkdsk /f. It always tells me that it's
locked or busy with another process. Even just after boot up. So my
question is....how do I fix the extended attribute problem and additionally
avoid creating new EA problems (I assume by not using DOS editing on
OS/2 created files?).
Please e-mail to me directly.
I am extremely grateful to all that can help.

Don't forget that OS/2 has a program called EAUTIL that will put a
file's EA data into a separate file, then let you join it back
together again later. You can use that with ZOO to store the extended
attributes of the file. It's not as nice as having ZOO do this
automatically, but it is still useful.

Note that both LaMail and EPM can be used to edit the SENDMAIL.CF, *provided*
that the /t option is used to prevent tabs from being expanded. E.g.,
from an edit window, enter the command:
e /t \etc\sendmail.cf

Hi there,
the problem with WD-based Ethernet adapters was solved for TCP/IP 1.2.1
and 6.177, look for IFNDIS.200 on various nets for a replacement of the
IFNDIS.SYS.
X-Windows runs beautifully and smooth. Graphics seem to loose some colors on
XGA-adapters thou (maybe 6.177 does not doe palette-management yet). Text
screens under X seems to be very slow compared to XVision for Windows. This
could be due to OS/2's beta state.
TCP/IP is fun.

I have been meaning to post something along these lines for a while
now, in answer to a variety of questions.
Anyone looking for an excellent TCP/IP networking system under OS/2
could do *much* worse than to look to Essex Systems. They offer a
family of products under the generic name of TCP/2 (TM), have sane
site-licensing policies, and have the only product I know in this
field that was designed from the outset to co-exist with other
networking products. Here are the basic OS/2 product offerings,
off a FAX they sent me the other day:
TDODS01 Distribution System $ 475
TDDVK01 Developers Kit $ 750
TOONB01 Net BIOS Option $ 98
TOOSN01 SNMP Tools Option $ 150
TOONF01 NFS (reg) Access Option $ 75
TOODN01 Domain Name Server $1,200
The Distribution System has also been unbundled for the latest (v1.3)
version of their product, and there are four separate offerings:
TDOTC01 Transport and Configuration $ 210
ARP, HOSTNAME, IFCONFIG, NETD,
ROUTE, SETVAR, NETSTAT, PING,
TRPT, SYSLOG, SNMPD, ROUTED,
RIPQUERY, VT100KC, INETD.
TDOBC01 Basic Client Pack $ 75
TELNET, TELNETVT, TELNET14,
TN3270/MSET FTP, TFTP, LPQ, LPR,
LPRM, TAR.
TDOAC01 Advanced Client Pack $ 125
MT, RTPCP, RLOGIN, RLOGINVT,
REXEC, RSH, RCP, SENDFILE,
COOKIE, FINGER, GETTABLE, HTABLE,
WHOIS, RED, TRACEROUTE, NSLOOKUP,
BINMAIL, MAIL, PCMAIL, PCMAILER,
POP3, SMTP/SENDMAIL.
TDOSP01 Server Pack $ 125
BOOTPD, FINGERD, FTPD, POP2D,
POPPER, PCMAIL/REPOSITORY, REXECD,
RSHD, RWHOD, TALKD, TELNETD,
TFTPD, TELLOGIN, STARTSES,
USERAUTH, TALK, OTALK, RUPTIME,
RWHO, RMT.
For those who have asked about these things, this represents an
alternative NFS solution, and they do have a POP2 daemon. I guess
it's also worth noting that they also have DOS versions of most of
this stuff as well...

I have no connection with Essex Systems other than as an extremely
satisfied user of their v1.1 and v1.2 Distribution System and
Developers Kit. I haven't yet upgraded to v1.3 of these products.
All errors are mine; for the truth, contact Essex Systems. To the
best of my knowledge they do not have direct Internet access.

TCP/IP 1.2 did not work on OS/2 2.0 with WD and perhaps other cards.
Substituting IFNDIS.SYS in CONFIG.SYS by IFNDIS.200, supplied recently by
IBM, cures the problem. IFNDIS.200 is a temporary fix and works with
OS/2 2.0 only! It will not work with 1.3!
I have put IFNDIS.200, with IBM permission, on the anonymous FTP on
misz.animal.uiuc.edu (128.174.78.6)
in directory d:\anonym\pub. The anonymous FTP is extremely slow
(it is a 386/33 with 8 M memory only) and may be down any time for any
reason.

Thanks to all who responded.
The question that I asked earlier was are there any PM versions for Lotus 123
and Ami Pro and if so how do they compare to the windows versions.
Summary:
Lotus is currently shipping 123/G. It has most, if not all the functionality
of 123 3.1 They will be announcing an OS/2 2.0 version (32 bit) of Ami Pro
and an upgrade to 123/g at the end of march. No shipping date has been set as
of yet.

I just want to tell about my experience with the 'Form'-virus:
I have the boot-selector of the LA installd to let me choose between DOS from
C: and OS/2 from I:. The Form-virus infected the boot-sector of the most-
partition and could not be fount by mac-affee scan. It was active after
booting DOS but not after booting OS/2 in the dos-box. To get the virus of my
harddisk I deleted and reinstalled the most-partition with fdiskpm.

We use SENDMAIL from IBM TCP/IP as mail gateway for our LAN. All mail
for our mail domain is delivered in the etc\mail directory of our TCP/IP
mail gateway. A custom made mail delivery program takes the mail files
from this subdirectory an deliver them to the netweork users (who do not
run TCP/IP just DLR and LS). In the same way we do outbound mail.
All this works fine now but we had to get a new SENDMAIL from IBM.
I am planning to make our mail software available in the next
couple of weeks. But it will be shareware.
