For the first time in the history of the list, the number of voters
has increased beyond the magic 1000. Of course, it all has to do with
the Internet PC Games Contest, of which a description is included in
this list again. I do expect however that most of these new voters
are occasional voters, and that the total number will drop below 500
again in a few weeks, when the contest is over. Oh well, if I am able
to hold the attention of say 10% of these new voters even after the
contest, I will be more than happy.

With some of the votes I got this week it is quite obvious that
whoever sent them is only in it for the free games. I even got several
messages from people who just copied the example from the document and
sent that to me as their votes. A word to these people: Listen, you
eggheads. If you don't even can find the time to send votes for your
*personal* favourites and you just send me my own example, then don't
expect me to find the time and send you the Top 100 in return. And
don't even think about free games.!

Ok, now I got that of my chest, a final word about the Top 100 itself.
You will see that Galactic Civilizations has managed to get a few
points more than Doom 2 this week. Before people start flaming me and
demand that GalCiv should be the new #1, I must explain that the
compilation algorithm doesn't consider this very small margin of any
importance. My computer is simply not yet convinced that GalCiv earns
that all-important #1 position. And my own opinion doesn't count,
remember? So, let the battle between the Doom fanatics and the GalCiv
disciples begin...

Below you will find a list of questions about games, developers,
publishers and the Top 100. You must answer these as good as you can,
and as many as possible. The answers should be sent to jojo@xs4all.nl,
with subject header ANSWERS.

The participants with the most correct answers will be the winners of
the contest. They will be allowed to choose five games from the list of
free games. The first to choose will be the one who has the most correct
answers. The second to choose will be the one with the second most
correct answers, etc. When several winners have an equal amount of
correct answers, I will let the one who has been the most faithful voter
in the past choose first.

The results of the contest, with a list of the winners, will be published
on the 21st of December. It is not possible to ask me for more info before
that time. The winners of the contest will receive email from me around
the 21st of December.

Participants for this contest must send their answers to me before the
10th of December. Any forms delivered after this date will be discarded.
Do not combine your votes for the Top 100 and your answers for the contest
in one message. Either your votes or your answers will then not be
administrated.

I cannot prevent people from talking about the questions in the newsgroups.
I am not a net.cop so I cannot forbid this. What I can do is disqualify
anyone who has been publishing answers to the questions. I know it's not
nice, but this contest takes up a lot of time from me, and I ask you to
see to it that it is a fair contest. So, don't publish answers before the
deadline, or you will never have free games.

Last but not least, I am not responsible for the games being sent to the
winners. This will be done by the publishers and I only supply addresses
of the winners. Wait at least 6 weeks before you start mailing me when
you did not receive a game. I will then contact the appropriate publisher.
Do not email the publishers about the contest yourself.

I would like to thank the following persons:

Mark Rein/Tim Sweeney (Epic MegaGames)
Brenda (Sir-Tech)
Colin McLaughlan/Dany Brooks (Electronic Arts)
Ryan Werner (Access)
Karl Maurer (Spectrum Holobyte)
Michael Pooler (Pop Software)
