Starting this week, the Tip 20 has been replaced by something similar,
called the New Contestants. Many readers did not understand what the
Tip 20 was, and I hope this will solve the problem. Apart from the name
change, that should reduce any further misunderstandings, two other
changes were made. The first is that there is no numbered ordering
anymore, which also gave rise to many questions. The second change is
the number of games in this list that can vary over the weeks, in stead
of being restricted to 20.
So, from now on, the list of New Contestants will hold the games that
have a high chance of entering the Top 100 soon. These games will not
be ordered anymore, and their number may change every week.
Oh, and another thing. I made a history file of the Top 100, that shows
all the games that ever appeared on the list, with their dates of
entry, highest positions and number of weeks in the chart. Check it out
in comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.announce or on the risc.ua.edu FTP site. The
history file will be updated every few weeks.
