UFOs AND ALIENS SIGHTED ON VIEQUES ISLAND

Two months ago, on May 4, 2000, FBI and Department of Justice agents forcibly removed protestors from the firing range on Isla Vieques (island), off the east coast of Puerto Rico.

Now strange stories of small aliens and visiting UFOs are circulating among the island's 9,300 residents, according to Puerto Rican ufologist Jorge Martin.

Vieques is 21 miles (33 kilometers) long and and 3 miles (5 kilometers) wide and is located just east of the Roosevelt Roads Naval Station at Cieba, P.R. President Franklin D. Roosevelt set up the Navy firing ranges on the island during World War II.

"Investigating in Vieques we have found a wealth of data which indicates there may be a UFO/alien angle to the matter, one with powerful implications for all of us humans," Martin stated.

During his investigations, Martin interviewed Angel Encarnacion, a commercial fisherman and a resident of Vieques.

Encarnacion reported, "One night, while fishing out at sea south of the shooting (Navy firing) range, and east of Vieques, we saw in the distance a really big and shining light.. Getting closer, we saw that it was suspended in the air. It was a huge light...a round and hufe flying object with lots of lights turning on and off intermittently all around the ship. There were yellow, green and red lights."

"On the bottom, right in the middle of the saucer, it had a really big green light, aimed at the ocean's surface. It wasn't more than 100 feet (30 meters) above the ocean. But that thing wasn't from this world."

"What shocked me most was seeing the object absorb water from the ocean. You could actually see the water rising and entering the object through where the green light was coming from. It was a really big volume of water going up. You could not see any fish or anything else in the water going up. And all of this without a single sound. Nothing!"

"As we got closer to the saucer, it stayed still for a while and then it immediately left, flew away very fast in the direction (west--J.T.) of El Yunque or Cieba (where the Roosevelt Roads Naval Station is located--J.T.) It was really fast. It was gone in seconds. Incredible!"

On another night-fishing trip, Encarnacion said that he and his partners "saw a shiny green light rising from the bottom of the ocean. (At first) They thought it was a U.S. (Navy) submarine in the area that was surfacing. But just at the time at which the light should have surfaced, the green light disappeared, and everything was quiet again."

Then Encarnacion heard something that made the short hairs stand up on the back of his neck. "We heard the sound of water falling into the ocean nearby."

(Editor's Comment: Sounds like the saucer turned on some kind if invisibility field.)

Unable to actually see the UFO, the fishermen heard it "rise into the night sky" before it departed.

"Besides this, we have seen shiny objects come out of the lagoons," Encarnacion added, "after which they got lost at high speed. They are shiny lights, orbs or balls of light of a blue-white color."

Martin also interviewed several teenagers, former members of the Cadetes de la Marina (Puerto Rican version of the Sea Scouts--J.T.)

The cadets "were doing exercises in the vicinity of El Tapin lagoon" on Vieques, Martin reported, "when they saw 'some very strange little dark men,' gray or blackish in color, who were very fast and ran speedily from one place to another. sometimes in a zigzagging motion and sometimes in jumps."

(Editor's Comment: Zigzagging motion, eh? Note the similarity between these creatures and the Chupacabras reported at Calama and Chuquimata in Chile.)

"'They would stop suddenly in front of us,' one teen reported, 'and then we would see them, and then they would leave, sometimes very fast.'"

"'They were three to four feet (0.9 to 1.3 meters) high, and were skinny, with long arms,' he added, 'And their heads were kind of big and egg-shaped. They were weird.'"

Martin dded, "The ex-cadets added that on occasion they the said little dark men would jump into the lagoon, disappearing into the water. and they observed 'various blue-white spheres that vary in size, from four to eight inches in diameter, that enter the water of the lagoon."

Martin added that, according to Puerto Rican journalist Jorge Seijo, the island "is not used for military practice and exercises , and its real use consists of serving as an experimental field" for high-tech weapons.

According to a report by Seijo, he added, "the navy and Raytheon Corporation "were testing in Vieques a weapon iknown as the Phalanx Block AB-1, an automatic computerized armament," a rapid-fire cannon that "fires depleted-uranium" shells "at a rate of 2,000 per minute."

(Editor's Comment: Ah-ha! So that's why the saucer was taking samples of the ocean water.)

Martin added that armed forces from the Netherlands, France, Venezuela and Brazil have also used the range on Vieques for amphibious-landing practice. (See "U.S. Navy insists 'Vieques is Irreplaceable;' What is the U.S. Navy doing in Vieques?" copyright 2000 by Jorge Martin, all rights reserved. Muchas gracias a Jorge martin para eso articulo.)

SEVEN CRESCENT-SHAPED UFOs SEEN OVER MONTREAL

On Wednesday, June 21, 2000, at 11:55 p.m., telephone workman Ned N. and two friends were sitting on the hilltop of Mount-Royal in the large city of Montreal, Quebec, Canada when they "spotted seveal UFOs high in the sky."

"We were lying on the grass in the park," Ned reported, "when we spotted the UFOs. Their estimated height (altitude) was 26,000 to 30,000 feet (7,800 to 9,000 meters)."

"They had all the same shape, that of a small crescent. They were all very small in the sky, and they looked like a lead pencil (dot) at arm's length."

"First there was only one. I call it the 'leader shipp," traveling across the sky in about 15 seconds. Five minutes later, a second one appeared also. Thirty minutes later, a whole fleet traversed the sky, coming from the same place at the same altitude. The UFOs were completely parallel and kept the same position relative to each other."

Ned offered this diagram of the UFOs position as they crossed the sky.

                   O O O O O O O

Ned added that he "felt a buzz or pressure in my head at the time of the sighting. Another one of the group present had a headache."

"I think somebody might have been aware that the UFOs were passing over," he added, "Because there were more projections (searchlights--J.T.) in the sky over MontrealThere were six or seven of these lights compared to the two we see every evening." (Email Form Report)

ANOTHER UFO IS VIDEOTAPED IN ITALY

On Tuesday, June 20, 2000, at 11 p.m., a man who had his camcorder handy spotted "a white rhomboidal object hovering in the night sky" over Viterbo, a large in central Italy about 100 kilometers (60 miles) north of Rome.

Immediately he raised the camcorder and began shooting footage. He shot ten minutes' worth of video of the white rhomboidal object hovering over the rooftops of Viterbo.. Then the UFO darted away. (See the newspaper Corriere di Viterbo for June 23, 2000.)

On Sunday, June 25, 2000, "a teenager observed a luminous metallic object proceeding over Porto Torres" at 10:15 p.m. Porto Torres is on the west coast of the island of Sardinia, located about 30 kilometers (18 miles) northwest of Sassari.

Forty-five minutes later, "two newlyweds were on the porch of their new house is Tissi," also near Sassari, "when they observed to the south a round flying object of a red color, with white flashing lights. The object hovered nearby for over five minutes, then it slowly disappeared."

Both cases are being investigated by Sardinian ufologist Antonio Cuccu.

On May 31, 2000, "a teenager in Napoli (Naples) observed from the balcony of his apartment house a gray metallic object brilliantly reflecting the light of the sun. He snapped two photographs of the OVNI (Italian acronym for UFO--J.T.) before it zoomed out of view." (Grazie a Edoardo Russo, Giovanni Ancione, Antonio Cuccu, Enzo DeAngelis, Enzo De Luca e Giorgio Rossolilliol di Centro Italiano di Studi Ufologicim, CISU, per questi rapporti.)

FIRST CROP CIRCLE OF 2000 APPEARS IN SASKATCHEWAN

On Monday, June 19, 2000, a farmer in Willmar, Saskatchewan, Canada (population 120) "found five rings in wild pasture grass, each measuring 25 to 27 feet (8 meters) in diameter and about 2 feet (0.7 meters) wide."

Willmar is on Provincial Highway 604, located about 105 miles (168 kilometers) southeast of Regina.

At least three of the circles "had an 'opening' or a cut in the ring, with a horseshoe or partial ring shape. Some of the rings had several small 'grapeshot' circles inside them, about 10 inches wide, as well as standing tufts of tall 10-inch grass. The rings are being described as being dark green in colour, with the grass very much stunted in growth, not flattened or level and different from typical crop circles."

The formation in Willmar is Canada's first crop circle of the year 2000. Paul Anderson of Circles Phenomenon Research-Canada noted that Willmar " is close to Midale, Sask., the site of many crop circles in past years."

Local reporter Dawn-Marie Barker found "an interesting synchronicity," Anderson said, the first crop circle in Willmar "appeared exactly 25 years ago to the day," back in 1975. (Many thanks of Paul Anderson of CPR-Canada for this report.)

VATICAN RELEASES FULL TEXT OF THE FATIMA PROPHECY

After 56 years of silence, the Vatican released on Monday, June 26, 2000 "a 62-line handwritten account by Lucia Abobora de Jesus dos Santos of what she saw as a 10-year-old shepherd in a pasture" at Cova da Iria "near Fatima, Portugal on July 13, 1917."

Five successive popes had kept Lucia's tale locked in a safe, feeding fevered speculation that 'the third secret of Ftima' predicted the end of the world. The secret spawned a cult that held the mother of God as both savior and prophet of doom--one enhanced by the Vatican's sirprise announcement last month that her apparition at Fatima had foretold the 1981 wounding of Pope John Paul II by a would-be assassin (Mehmet Ali Agca--J.T.) in St. Peter's Square."

"Releasing the full text of that prophecy at the pope's instruction, the Vatican's top theologican Monday gently debunked the Fatima cult and sid Catholics were not required to believe it."

"In a 12-page commentary, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger said that Lucia, now a 93-year-old cloistered Carmelite nun, might have conjured her vision from devotional books."

"Ratzinger, prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, did not endorse a papal spokesman's claim that the felled 'bishop in white' was John Paul or the pope's long-stated belief that Mary had deflected the bullets meant to kill him as an instrument of divine will."

"Ratziner judged Lucia's text to be an interpretation of Christian suffering in the Twentieth Century, neither tied to specific events nor foreordained. He said it underlined hopeful church teaching that 'there is no immutable destiny...in the end, prayer is more powerful than bullets and faith more powerful than armies.'"

"'Those who expected exciting apocalyptic revelations about the end of the world or the future course of history are bound to be disappointed,' the German cardinal wrote."

"At a Vatican news conference, Ratzinger explained that popes had delayed revealing the text because of the fuzziness of the message, which he said could be deciphered 'only in the light of history.'"

"Asked whether the Fatima secrets pertained only to the past, he replied, 'I think so.'"

UFO Roundup now presents the actual text of the prophecy written by Lucia Abobora de Jesus dos Santos back in January 1944. Readers may judge for themselves the "fuzziness" of the message.

Lucia: "I write in deference to you, my God, who commanded me to do so through his Excellency, the Bishop of Leiria (Portugal), and through your most holy mother and mine."

"After the two parts which I have already explained, to the left of Our Lady and a little above, we saw an angel with a flaming sword in his left hand, flashing, it gave out flames that looked as though they would set the world on fire, but they died out in contact with the splendor that Our Lady radiated towards him from her right hand."

"Pointing to the north with his right hand, the angel cried out in a loud voice, 'Penance! Penance! Penance!' And we saw in the immense light that is God something similar to how people appear in a mirror as they pass in front of it...a bishop dressed in white. We had the impression that it was the Holy Father (a future Pope--J.T.) Other bishops, priests, men and women religious going up a steep mountain, at the top of which there was a big cross of rough-hewn trunks, as of a cork-tree with the bark."

"Before reaching this, the Holy Father passed through a big city half in ruins and, half-trembling with halting step, afflicted with pain and sorrow, he prayed for the souls of the corpses he met on the way. Having reached the top of the mountain, as he knelt in front of the big cross, he was killed by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows at him. And in the same way there died one after another all the bishops, priests, men and women religious, and various lay people of all ranks and positions."

"Beneath the two arms of the cross there were two angels, each with a crystal chalice in their hands, in which they gathered up the blood of the martyrs and went and sprinkled it on those who were making their way to God."

The interesting thing about this prophecy is how closely it conforms to other seers' visions of the Last Days, dating all the way back to Philomena of Nicopolis back in 304 A.D.

Philomena was a princess of ancient Nicopolis in the Roman province of Moesia Inferior (modern Razgrad, Bulgaria.) When she was fourteen, "one summer night (July 304 A.D.) Philomena (Greek for Beloved--J.T.) had a prophetic dream. She saw an endless number of virgins dressed in white robes, carrying palms in their hands. They sang a hymn that filled her heart with joy. One of the virgins beckoned Philomena to approach, but between them lay the sea where an enraged dragon blocked Philomena's crossing."

"The next morning, she spoke of her dream with Macrima," an elderly servant in the household, who immediately recognized it as a scene from the Book of Revalation.

Since then, this "Procession of the Doomed" seen by Lucia Abobora de Jesus dos Santos in 1944 has been part of many prophetic visions, including Philomena, Bertwahld of Glastonbury in 1045, Mariana Paredes y Flores of Quito, Ecuador in 1644, the La Salette apparitions of 1846 and Padre Pio Forginone in 1968. (See the Duluth, Minn. News-Tribune for June 27, 2000, "Vatican ends Fatima debate," page 6A. See also Visions of Mary by Peter Eigher, Avon Books, New York, N.Y., 1996, page 17. Obrigado a Antonio Monteiro por esas traducoes.)

(Editor's Comment: The psychic link between Philomena in 304 A.D. and Sister Maria-Luisa de Jesus of Napoli (Naples) in 1804 is an amazing tale of either time-travel or bilocation in its own right. We'll have to get to it sometime.)

CHEMTRAILS REPORTED IN OSLO, NORWAY

On Thursday, June 29, 2000, Stig Aron M., 39, a resident of Oslo, the capital of Norway, telephoned his parents. Stig had been reading about chemtrails on the Internet and mentioned them to his father, who lives in Osterdalen.

Then his father mentioned something strange. In recent days, the elder M. had seen unmarked dark green or olive drab C-130 Hercules aircraft taking off from the lNorwegian air base at Osterdalen.

"Dad said he wondered why all the Hercules planes were using the runway on their flights and returning only 45 minutes later," Stig reported.

He added that Osterdalen is the staging area for Norwegian forces committed to the NATO effort in Kosovo, and his father thought that might be the answer.

(Editor's Comment: Trouble is, you can't fly from Norway to Kosovo and back in only 45 minutes.)

The next day, Friday, June 30, 2000, Stig was at his apartment when he noticed "a large airplane (that) flew over the central part of Oslo at a very low height (altitude). I wondered what it was and went out on my balcony and saw a large airplane (greenish colour, and I'm sorry I can't give you any more accurate information--S.M.) in the easterly direction with a large 'white-gray' tail behind it."

"It then flew to the north, and about four minutes later, it came back and nearly crushed the pipe (chimney--J.T.) on my building. It was a terrible noise! The same white-gray tail was behind it, when it turned north again and never came back."

"After some minutes, a distinct chemical odour was hanging in the air, and I got a terrible headache and cough," he added, "Later I telephoned some friends elsewhere in Oslo, and they said they had a headache and a cough, as well." (Many thanks to Rev. Billy Dee for forwarding this report.)

(Editor's Note: This is the third incident of the appearance of chemtrails in Europe reported to UFO Roundup. Previous incidents occurred in Italy and Croatia. Is Project Cloverleaf somehow involved with NATO? Stay tuned.)

PSYCHICS REPORT MORE "BIG WAVE" DREAMS

UFO Roundup has received more accounts of Big Wave dreams from various readers.

Charlotte M. is a psychic living in the city of Flint, Michigan. She writes, "I have had a terrifying dream about a tsunami in Hawaii."

Charlotte's vision took the form of headlines from the Honolulu Star-Bulletin superimposed above the dream-image. She saw headlines such as HUGE WAVE 300 FEET HIGH HITS HAWAII and MASSIVE LOSS OF LIFE.

"The only safety was inland," she stated, "I saw several people standing on a high cliff huddling together, and the water curling around their feet."

(Editor's Comment: Honolulu readers, when it all goes down, head for Puowaina--fast!)

Wanda W. is a former Massachusetts resident who moved to central Vermont in 1998. She said she has been having tidal-wave visions since 1978.

"I have been having these for twenty years," she reported, "My first one (in 1978) involved what I thought was San Francisco where the water was hitting the glass windows of the skyscrapers. I actually can see the wave itself moving towards the city. It was a very lucid dream, not like my 'usual' dreams."

"Then in 1996 I started having them on full and new moons two or three times per year."

After she moved to Vermont in September 1998, "I dreamed of a large circular storm that covered southern New England. I could see the leading edge of it in a blue sky horizon with the sun shining, but it never reached me."

(Editor's Comment: Her dream isn't all that fantastic. As one who grew up there, I can tell you that the states of southern New England--Massachusetts,, Connecticut and Rhode Island--have experienced three catastrophic hurricanes during the past two centuries. These include the "Great Gale" in August 1819, the "Hurricane of '38" in September 1938 and Hurricane Carol in September 1954.)

On Thursday, June 15, 2000, she reported, "I had a tidal wave dream of people in a big city. This is the first tidal wave dream I have had since moving up here. It could be any big city, in a typical apartment house where I was, and it was on the coast. But I think it was in the (USA's) Northeast. The waves were coming in intervals of 15 to 20 minutes, and there was a lot of sloshing as seawater ran through the streets."

On Wednesday, June 7, 2000, just before 6 a.m., your editor had another strange tidal wave dream. And this one was really weird.

I dreamed I was standing on a narrow cobblestoned street looking down a small hill at a seaport with many sailboats and fishing boats at anchor. It was an autumn day, blue sky with intermittent cumulous clouds, with a mild, chilly sea breeze. On the horizon I saw two large islands, the one on the right closer to the harbor, the other more distant. Right in front of me the street ended at a T-intersection with a centuries- old ornate stone wall overlooking the waterfront.

Wondering where I was, I began walking. I turned right and headed downhill, passing a large modern hotel--the Riviera, I believe it was called. I noticed the United Nations flag flapping from the aluminum pole, so I kept on walking. There was a slight chop on the sea, a few whitecaps, nothing serious.

Brazil? I thought. No, too cold for Brazil. I'm somewhere in Europe. But where?

Then I noticed a little walk-in cafe run by a middle-aged man in a white apron. He seemed friendly, so I went in, and there weren't many people inside. Just a handful of elderly Europeans and a booth filled with college or post-grad students from the Far East.

Sitting down, I opened the menu. But to my dismay, it wasn't in any language I recognized-- French, Spanish, German, Portuguese or Italian. Must be eastern Europe, I reflected.

Just then, one of the elderly men came over. He wore a black beret and a dark gray sportsjacket and baggy trousers. With a big smile, he asked, "American?"

Nodding, I put down the menu. "Yes."

He began beaming. "I live America many year." And he started pumping my hand. "Marco Ludovic!"

So Marco and I began talking, and he asked, "So how you like Makarska?"

Before I could reply, the guy in the white apron let out a holler. Looking up, I saw a dark stormy sky and very big waves through the open doorway. The sea looked closer to the entrance, with many tall, angry whitecaps. A second later, breakers began hurling foam through the doorway.

The man in the apron tried to force the door shut, but the flood of water pushed it wide open. Water cascaded into the restaurant. Everybody made a beeline to the stairs--me included.

Up on the second floor, we pushed open the shutters and looked out the window. The narrow streets were flooded to a depth of 3 meters (10 feet), and big rolling waves kept hitting the front, making the whole building groan and shudder.

One of the Asians joined Marco and me. A woman in her early twenties, white headband, white blouse and dark slacks, possibly Japanese or Korean, but she spoke with a precise BBC accent.

"Marco, we can't stay here," she said, "This building is going to collapse. We can go out through the attic."

He shook his head. "No, Angie. Danger too much."

"Well, we can't stay here," Angie replied. "I intend to try. Is anyone coming with me?"

"Watch your step up there," I said, "Those roof tiles are bound to be slick."

And I woke up. The unfamiliar word echoed in my brain--Makarska.

The next day, I went to the library, and I found it. Makarska is a small port on the Adriatic Sea in what is now Croatia. It's about 120 kilometers (72 miles) south of Zagreb.

Now, what's really weird about all this is that I've never been to Croatia. I didn't even know what Makarska was until I looked it up in the Times Atlas. Is this another preview of the Last Days? Or a glimpse of some disaster of the 21st Century? I don't pretend to understand them. I just report them.

SPECIAL FOURTH OF JULY DOUBLE FEATURE

This week, in honor of the USA's Fourth of July holiday, UFO Roundup presents not one but TWO Fortean "blasts from the past." Here we go!

1891: FOSSILS FROM SPACE?

On Friday, July 3, 1891, "Children picked up a large quantity of (hail) stones and put them on a plate to melt."

"But instead of melting, the stones remained and upon examination it was found that all of the hail was formed around white stones about the size of peas and in several there were fine shells. Most of the stones were transparent and of a blue-white color. Several people in other parts of the place (Palmyra, New York--J.T.) report that they also obtained a quantity of stones, and they are all mystified to know where they came from." (See the Rochester, N.Y. Democrat and Chronicle for July 5, 1891, "Hailstorm at Palmyra," page 4.)

(Editor's Note: Palmyra is where Joseph Fielding Smith, the Mormon prophet, had his encounters with the angel Moroni in the 1820s.)

1907: UFO EXPLOSION OVER BURLINGTON, VERMONT

The mid-air explosion of a UFO over Burlington, Vermont, on the eastern shore of Lake Champlain, is one of the strangest incidents of "the Airship Era" in ufology. This week we present the actual newspaper story as it appeared in the Burlington Free Press of July 3, 1907.. Here it is:
