What if the center of the Earth really existed? the theory of the Hollow Earth
There are those who believe that the secret of human origin lies in the depths of the Earth, in the very core of our planet. Surprisingly, the first to give credence to the concept of the Hollow Earth was one of the founders of modern astronomy, Edmond Halley, known for having discovered the comet which was named after him.
Scholars and explorers continue to discover archaeological sites where legend and reality meet.
Could these findings be evidence that the history of mankind on this planet is much deeper than we currently know?
There are those who believe that the secret of human origin lies in the depths of the Earth, in the very core of our planet.
The North Pole, a seemingly endless expanse of Arctic ice, is shrouded in darkness for six months of the year. Here, there is no food and no shelter, not even a cave to protect oneself from the whipping winds and temperatures that plummet to 70 degrees below zero.
According to traditional geology, under the Pole and the Arctic Ocean lies the rockiest crust on Earth, up to 48 kilometers thick. Below this layer is molten rock, heated by the planet's rotating core, with a moon-sized heart of iron and nickel at its center.
Scientists deduced this information by measuring Earth's gravity, magnetism and seismic waves. But no one has ever directly seen these internal areas of the planet.
Is it possible that the frozen surface of the North Pole hides a passage to a world beyond the Earth's surface? There are those who believe the answer is yes. They are supporters of the “Hollow Earth” theory.
The "Hollow Earth" theory states that the Earth does not have a liquid core inside, but that it is hollow, that is, empty, and suspended in the hollow, there would be an internal sun.
Surprisingly, the first to give credence to the concept of the hollow Earth was one of the founders of modern astronomy, Edmond Halley, known for having discovered the comet to which his name was given. In 1691, the English astronomer presented his hypothesis to the Royal Society of London, according to which the Earth would be hollow and contain other concentric spheres within it, a bit like a Russian Matryoshka.
He hypothesized this for a very practical reason: the Earth's magnetic pole moves a little westward every year and his theory predicted a series of spheres inside the planet that rotate independently of each other and the external surface. He even suggested that these inner spheres could be inhabited!
In 1818, former U.S. Army Captain John Cleves Symmes Jr. announces that there are large openings at each pole from which the inner earth can be accessed. With Symmes, the idea of the hollow Earth is linked to the exploration of the poles. Until then, no one had ever seen Antarctica.
The Hollow Earth Theory captured the public imagination again in 1864, with the release of Jules Verne's second novel “Journey to the Center of the Earth”. In the novel, an Icelandic guide, a professor and a young man descend to the center of the Earth.
Verne's novel could easily have been called "Journey to the Center of Geology", a subject which, together with paleontology, was very exciting in the mid-19th century and is discussed extensively in "Journey to the Center of the Earth".
But while Verne popularizes the idea that extinct life forms (such as dinosaurs) still exist within the Earth, according to some there are advanced civilizations living permanently in the depths of the planet. They assume that these inhabitants are in possession of advanced technologies, including that of flying saucers, so famous among enthusiasts of UFO phenomena.
But is there any evidence that demonstrates the veracity of these fantastic theories? Has anyone ever been to the inner world of the Earth? Supporters of the Hollow Earth theory answer yes and are convinced that one of these explorers was not only a luminary, but also a famous pioneer of the poles. This is Admiral Richard Byrd.
In the 1920s, Byrd caused a sensation by flying over the North Pole and becoming the first man to fly over the South Pole. But Hollow Earth theorists believe that the famous explorer went much further. On February 19, 1947, in fact, Admiral Byrd pilots a plane through a tunnel located at the North Pole into the Earth's interior.
It is said that flying saucer-like aircraft took control of his plane with a kind of tractor beam and made it land in a city on the inner Earth. Admiral Byrd came into contact with alien entities who considered themselves the “Guardians of the Planet”.
The entities communicated to the admiral that they did not approve of the way in which the humanity used nuclear energy: a few years earlier there had been the cases of Hyroshima and Nagasaki. When the admiral went to Washington, he was ordered to maintain secrecy and not to spread this news for any reason.
Some argue that Admiral Byrd's account of his flight into the Earth's interior is described in his secret journal published in the 1990s, nearly forty years after his death.
But skeptics believe that the diary is a fake and point out that in February 1947, in the same period in which the admiral would have visited the world located under the North Pole, he was actually taking part in a large naval expedition called High Jump, at twenty thousand kilometers away, near the South Pole.
According to some, Byrd's participation in this vast military operation at the South Pole is just a cover story that allowed him to rush to the other side of the planet without being followed by the media.
This is a myth, because no one is currently able to demonstrate the veracity of the Hollow Earth Theory. However, it is a grandiose myth and could have very close ties to a very ancient historical nucleus. How did the idea arise, in some religions, of the existence of a world of the "underworld", that is, an inferior one, inhabited by demons and monsters? And the Greek myth of Hades?
Could there be large open spaces within Earth where advanced alien civilizations live? Is it possible that extraterrestrial “gods” really came to Earth centuries ago and hid evidence of their journey in a series of underground caves and tunnels?
Perhaps we have only just scratched the surface of our planet's subterranean mysteries. But if so, what clues to our distant past are still waiting to be discovered?
