My subscription also did not cancel, but I had confirmation from
majordomo that I was unsubscribed. Maybe there is a problem here.

There have been a few instances recently where unsubscription attempts have
been confirmed, but the unsubscribed user has continued to receive mail.
This is apparently due to delays on the transatlantic link, and are
unavoidable. If you have unsubscribed and received a confirmation, then you
_are_ unsubscribed, and your patience is requested if it takes a while for
the flow of mail to end.
If you feel you have an actual problem unsubscribing, please address your
correspondence to owner-doom-editing@nvg.unit.no, rather than the list.
Thanks.
