Wrong, wrong, wrong, and wrong.
How do I know? Because I've been writing an NWT clone that will work
with Hexen (Anyone out there who has C code for Audio please email me!)
And yes, NWT -file HEXEN.WAD spits out horrid junk. Don't know why.
I'll let you know that they just so happen to be the background music
for the game. Reason? They start with MUS for one...
If anyone cares:
There are 4249 entries in the commercial version.
The Opening screen is # 19: TITLE
The ending orb is # 25: FINALE1
The grey image is # 24: INTERPIC
The endgame chessboard is # 27-30: FINALE3, CHESSC, CHESSM, CHESSALL
FINALE3 is the board, with CHESS(C),(M) and (ALL) overlaid depending
upon who is playing (Fighter, Cleric, Mage, or Multiplayer)
From 3996 to 4212 are the sound effects.
From 4213 to the end are MUS files.
I won't feel comfortable enough to ever release my "viewer", but if anyone
wants source, email me personally, and I'll send what I do/don't have done.

Do you mean MUS-audio or a digi-sound-player? Last one is a very big
problem for me too (under DPMI). Anyone?

I know, but I won't tell. It's simply not made for Hexen. ;)

Hi!
Although I don't like to start another quake-'war', all you guys
thinking about quake-like engines should check the demo of
Into the Shadows from Triton/Scavenger. Triton is a well known
Demo-Scene-Group (excellent 3D-demos in the past), perfection is
one of their main goals I guess.
If anyone from id is still reading here, you guys should see this
demo anyway. It's real-time, full light-sourcing with 4 different
character types of texture-mapped, moving 'monsters'.
Additionally, more than one shadow, quake-screenshot-like hallways
and buildings.
Although, it's 320x200, even kinda choppy on my dx66... get it from
ftp.wustl.edu ../MSDOS_UPLOADS/games, or something like that. It's
called itsdemo.exe.
I'm sorry for being 'off-topic'...

Hey all,
I just found out that they're having a The Ultimate Doom DM tourney
here in the Pentagon. Kinda funny if think about it. Maybe the guys
at id should be concerned that their product is being use to plan
national defense strategy.
