Its my understanding that low detail mode just renders half the columns and
draws them twice. Why would you need modex for that?

Deep's got that, but I reckon it's the only thing going for it (except for
Hexen, of course!).. Other people might like it, but I'm a DCK man meself. Oh,
and seeing as people called Doom 2, Doom][, is Hexen going to be reffered to as
HeXeN??

Nope. HeXen. The N isn't that large. And it would look too much like LaTeX

Do any of you know if any Hexen editors are available yet? I know that
HexenCK is being worked on, but don't know if it's finished.

Because using modex you don't render and draw twice. You render
and draw ONCE because the hardware can automatically double the column for
you. This is why low detail is so fast.

You do know that you can get Ultimate doom from the internet or AOL. And this
patch allows you to use your wads as usual. I've heard the purchased version
will not let you use custom levels.

John,

My latest info is that HexCK will be out shortly: Ben told me yesterday it
isn't done and won't be before next week. DEEP has some Hexen capability
now, but with the Hexen specs only being released last friday Jack
Vermeulen has been struggling in the dark with a lot of things. The same
really goes for all of the other editors: we've been waiting for Specs!
There are still too many holes in the released specs for a fully working
(ie reliable!) editor to be released yet. As I get corrections I'm putting
them up on the web....

I *do* know that a new RMB is out today that will build Hexen REJECTs but I
guess that that isn't a lot of help without the map to build it around ;)

Hope this helps

Sorry guys: I pressed send too soon. Everyone who I've ever moaned at for
doing that now gets one free shot at me ;)

Still, at least this way everyone gets a chance to contradict me and tell
the world that their editor works NOW!
