Subject: GAME lump in WAD directory
Ages ago there was some discussion about editors including a
GAME lump (or something like it) to distinguish between WADs for
DOOM/DOOM2/HERETIC/HEXEN, making the offset 0 and the lump size:
bit 0 DOOM/Ultimate Doom
1 DOOM2
2 HERETIC
3 HEXEN
Or maybe it was lump size 0, and offset as above.
Was a standard agreed upon? If not, why not? Sounds like a good idea to me.

Hi Oliver,
I _think_ I could host a homepage as a sub-file off of my main homepage.
Since all the source files come off my home ftp server, you could also
update the pages via anonymous ftp, although I would have to approve the
files before the general public could access them.
If this offer sounds like it's the best of those offered, contact me.
Although in all honesty you might want to consider talking to Colin Caird
first, he might be able to fix you up with a better arrangement and his web
site is VERY well known.
PS: The url of the web server is: http://www.synapse.net

Ok, before Thanksgiving vacation, I accessed the RavenSoftware Home page and
left a comment asking when the 8-player patch for Hexen is coming, and this
was their reply:

Subject: 8-player patch for Hexen
We are currently looking into the possibility of 8-player support
for Hexen, but are not sure if the game engine will actually be able
to support it. The programmers just got back from a (well-deserved)
vacation after the initial release of Hexen and are currently
working on some bug fixes and the 8-player stuff. My guess (for
whatever a non-programmer's opinion is worth in these matters) is
that bug fixes will come first in v1.1 or v1.2, and if the
programmers DO find that 8-player support is possible that will
follow soon after. As for an actual release date that is as always a
touchy subject with the programmers, but my guess is that when (or if)
such a thing DOES happen the whole inet will be abuzz. SO, sorry
there's no firm date, but we ARE working on it and hopefully it
won't take too long.
Thanks

p.s. please relay this to any of your friends on the net who are
also asking about this, as I hear a lot of idle chatter and simply
can't respond to it all in person. Thanks again, MRJ

Oh, and anyone that wants my HexenViewer:
http://www.rpi.edu/~bennes/viewer/hv.zip
Syntax: HV -file wadname.wad (if can't find hexen.wad, give it here.)
Oh, and please, only suggestive comments... I'm an EE, not a CompSci...
