It was tricky for me at first too, but now I know how. All you do is you
type in the
command twice (Ctrl + O, I think) and you'll get a dialog box.

I REALLY like DCK.

I hate to say it, but read the docs.

(shift+ < or > to rotate, never scaled though)

Someone did post that they had a barrel-respawning patch created a
number of months ago, but I don't know what it was called (try looking on
ftp.cdrom.com for patches with the word "barrel" in them somewhere :).
It involved swapping the barrel with an ammo-clip, since the ammo-clip
respawns. I believe there were some technical details too, since a
barrel can't be a "Gettable Item".

Uh huh. A slight modification of the LIGHTFX trick will allow you to turn
an area pitch black while lighting up the player to 255. In single player
mode the effect is a bit lame because it lights up all monsters and things,
but (I haven't tried it because I'm no DMer) it might be used to make a DM
level more fun. You can get this kind of result if you use a WARM nodebuild
without -na.

Hi
This is a kind of neat service you've got here...
I was wondering about the missile damage number in the things
area, doesn't that control the damage that missile does?
Another thing, the codepointers in the frame area, how do
you use them?

Brian,

Thanks for the note. I combed the documentation before posting my question and
must have missed mention of the shift+< and > keys. I did receive mail from a
friendly soul (Chris Dale - thanks!) who told me that there is a bug in DCK
where you have to hit CTRL-O twice. I tried this last night and indeed it pops
up a dialog box where you can select a scaling factor and a rotation angle.
Thanks for the tip about using shift+< and > - I will definitely try it out.

I am a big fan of manuals/docs and I usually read them fairly thoroughly. My
apologies if this seemed like too much of a newbie question for the list.

Jay

I was mistaken about the condition required for perfect (traditional) transp
doors. I said that one inside sidedef# of doorfaces had to be greater than
both doortrack sidedef#s. Er, I hadn't read the manual written by Robert
Fenske, located at

http://www.daimi.aau.dk/~hykkelbj/doom/special/

If I had, I would have saved a lot of time and embarrassment.
Robert explained that one linedef# of doorfaces has to be greater than both
doortrack linedef#s.

I think I'm just going to find a dark hole and crawl into it for awhile...

For those of you who don't know, this message is cause by someone
mailing the list with the "confirm reading" switch turned on. Many
email programs are hard coded to respond with the above message when
this type of email is read. The answer? Do not set "Confirm Reading"
or "Confirm delivery" when sending a message to an email list.

Back to lurking. ;-)

How's this... Your opponent sees a room full of goodies and goes 'Oh great',
and wanders in. Then the light's nearby drop to zero, showing only arrows
pointing to the cage, and the guy gets trapped in the cage, so you have to get
him out. Either by opening the doors or blasting him.
Also, here's my idea for a sort of "alarm" using DeHacked. You change the
imp (or whatever), so he can't move and he can't attack. Then change his first
frame to a green torch. Have his first moving frame as a red torch. Voila!
Instant burglar alarm.
