I believe that idmap01 is in Heretic, as level 31. You can only reach
it by warping.

As stated several times already, there are no editors on the d!Zone CD-rom.
I do not have it myself, but I sort of gather that this is true, since it
has been already said several times.

Yes, there are many people who could assist you in making a new newsgroup,
but why would you want to? It already exists, as you would know if you
looked hard enough: rec.games.computer.doom.editing
btw, do NOT post to alt.games.doom. that newsgroup is obselete. it and
a.g.d.ii have been superceded by the r.g.c.d.* hierarchy.

There are already many web sites and ftp servers that are specifically
designed to teach Doom.newbies the basics of wad-editing and DeHacked

A service like what? dumbed-down FAQs for newbies? there already exists
several services such as this. go read rec.games.computer.doom.* to learn
all about the existing services before deciding to take on your own.
Now... I am somewhat confused by your sentence:
> ...so that the eventual flood into the net will at least be presented by...
how are people going to learn all about Doom editing *before* they have
access to Usenet? where else will people learn other than Usenet?

we were all clueless newbies once... even in Doom editing... everything I
have learnt I have learnt by experimenting with editors all by myself.
A lot of the Doom editing tricks I know now are those things that I "just
happened to figure out on my own"

Do whatever you want to do. If you want to write lots of Doom FAQs for
newbies, feel free! Have fun! Good luck!

Hiya.
Dehacked question follows....
Has anyone figured out how to make the guns of doom fire tracers ?? its
probably an old concept but i think it would be awesome for a deathmatch
to have laser-like tracer fire arcing about from the bullet weapons
(maybe even shotgun, but god knows how that would be done).
My idea is this... modify the code pointers.. i dont know how.. so that
the guns shoot like plasma gun instead of pistol.. you know, spew out a
projectile. Then modify the graphics so the 'bullet' looks like a long,
thin line, set the projectile speed and damage very high, and, given the
sacrifice of the plasma gun, you have projectile weaponry.
I dont know if ANY of it will work, or if the above is complete BS.
Please dont flame me for this.. its just and idea i had.
Suggestions would be appreciated.

Sorry about the recent spate of repeats: Arnt thinks he's found the
culprit, so they should have stopped. Please remember that all list
problems should be reported direct to owner-doom-editing@nvg.unit.no.
Neither of us has the time to read the list these days :( Thanks.

Bzzt.
It has some editors like DCK 1.0, and other really sad early versions.

What you could do is put "flag" in a sector and edit it with RMB so he can
move around, but can't attack. A moving target would be harder to hit. You
also put in some teleporters so the monster could jump around a bit in the
map. When the defense team kills the offense, then could open a secret door
via a switch and move the monster somewhere else.

Level 31?! I dunno what game Heretic you're talking about, but...the one
we all know and love, from Raven Software and using nearly the same
engine as Doom (so, yes, it *is* on-topic for this list AFAIK), has three
episodes of nine levels each, and one level in a fourth `episode', which
is the one Mark York is talking about. If you really want to check it
out, type, I believe `ENGAGE41' during a game. (Registered version is
required, obviously.)
