I just heard from Dave Taylor on IRC #doom that Quake skies will be
mapped onto a sphere and animated. 'Nuff said, join the quake-editing
mailing list when it comes out ;)

Sorry 'bout the short notice: things are hectic, guys....

Owing to holidays starting day after tomorrow, the Beginners Questions
service is temporarily suspended until end of September. I shall actually
be in the States and Canada for that time and so will not be answering
*any* email whatsoever after tomorrow (Aug 25) 13.00 *GMT*.

If anyone else wants to offer the service please feel free. All it needs is
about 10mins per day and a lot of patience (and the standard FAQs to mail
out in response). Mail me (before above deadline) or Bernd after that
(Bernd.Kreimeier@nero.uni-bonn.de) if you want to make it official that
you're taking over the service. And if there's anyone out there wants to
take on running the list for bit..... ;)

- -Steve

{And if any kind soul fills my mailbox while I'm away, they will be hearing
from me... ;)

I will have a copy of the IRC log if anyone wants it. Please email me
PRIVATELY and I will send it to you (tell me if you want MIME or just a
straight text include or what).

...can someone concisely answer me what this error is:

no more visiplanes

or

visiplane overflow

???

I solved it by placing one-sided walls in the WAD in question,
thus obscuring lots of 2-s linedefs... so I guess that's what the
error is about, but what is the DOOM engine's limits for 2-sided linedefs
and the amount of sectors that can be seen at once?

I've tried changing the rocket into an imp, which lobs fireballs at you
while running away backwards until it hits the wall and dies... :)

And as for the 'hundreds of missiles' problem, I've also tried making
the plasma balls go at speed 1. Get too many, and they just start to
flicker in and out of view, like anything else.
