[Quake speculation censored by Big Brother]
Back to revolving doom concepts....... speaking of.... DF has areas where
things
go round and round... is there any way to simulate something like this in DO=
OM?
Got up/down, disappearing, invisible, pulsating... rotating tho?

First Point:
I'm sorry for all those I offensed by speaking of Quake
on this list. I just read the *last* Quake talk and... all that
I had speculated is in there. (Well, it was easy to guess from
the pictures). We can hardly speculate much.
As of Quake running on 486, dunno yet. I'm gonna try :))))
Now for the serious part:
A working beta WinTex 3.5 should be out in one week.
It took *very* long because 90% of the code was rewritten,
and I spent 100 hours in the windoze SDK (9th level of hell).
I would like to make it shareware, because it's sucking up too
much time for a freeware stuff, and too much time was spent
on user-convenience. I also will need new tools for windoze 95
port, and such.
Features: multi-wad editing, display of (almost) all WAD
entries, heretic-2 awareness, automatics entry sort, by
type, to avoid the WAD becomes a mess, much easier to use
than wintex 3.41 :)
I think it should stand the comparison to NWT 1.04, especially
since the code is now *real* clean and I expect it to be
reliable... under windows.

id maintains that Quake will run on a 486-66 with 8megz of ram,
but
remember... DOOM can "run" on a 386-16 but is obviously not
playable.
Back to the question of whether or not we should discuss
technical
aspects of quake, I think it should be fine as long as this
doesnt turn
into a.g.quake. I am sure once quake does come out, this list
will be
even more dead than it is now, so i don't see why we cannot get
some
intellegent speculation going about how id works their magic
with quake.

I don't think pine supports attaching. Sodding thing. <quickly reads

Here's my speculations:
- - Quake editors will be 3D. They will have a top view and a side view of maps.
- - Most machines are 486's and will run at 320x200x256. Maybe for Pentium it will be
640x480x64K.
- - Quake still uses BSP trees but they are 3D BSP trees and not the flat type used by
Doom.

Are you using DEU, WARM or DEUTEX for DOOM? WHY NOT??

Perhaps we should inform the big cheese of this mailing list about maybe starting a Quake mailing list, devoted TO quake, about Quake, well, ya get the idea.
Like you said. Doom will *ahem* run on a 386, so do you think Quake will *ahem* run on a DX2/66? Not to worry for me though 8) Thanx!

You must be using an ancient version. Try hitting ^J when editing the
