Oh, yes it can! All you need to do is replace the sound samples in the
MOD file with MIDI instruments that sound roughly similar (which, of
course, may not be possible, particularly if the samples contain lots of
speech etc.)
But if the MOD you are working with is basically just music, yes, you can
pull off a conversion to MIDI. Just not an *exact* sound-alike.

The OPL3 *is* FM! That's the chip the card uses to do it. I think you're
out of luck, though - I've never seen a .mus player except Doom, although
they must exsist. Just convert to a .mid, or play through Doom.

And about GM - if your card has a non-standard midi interface (like the SB
Pro) then you have to run through Windows to use an external midi device.
(I have seen a tsr that lets dos programs do it, but only in a Windows
dosbox).

Hey, I've noticed something while playing DOOM2 that I can't explain. I
played a wad for a while, then shut the thing down. I came back, playing
the very same pwad at the very same point, and I know for sure, it was much
lighter than it had been the first time. Gamma correction was still in the
same place it had been: noth'in. This has happened many times with many
pwads. Could anyone explain how this happens?

Yeah--your monitor was still warming up.

Hi!

In one room in my recently built level is one place that is kinda
strange. All seems okay, the textures are all there and the sectors
are closed. Now, when I walk there I will fall in something lower.
I can't climb back and, of course, all is flickering (like missing
textures). I noticed such a thing in one of my earlier levels (in
sudtic I think) and I fixed it with rebuilding the whole area.
With my current level even that didn't seem to work - I tried several
Node-Builders (including id's), moving, deleting & re-creating the
whole area -> Nothing changed, argh! Then I moved a few THINGS in
that sector and in all connected to it. All is fine now. Hey, I'm
building levels for a f*** long time now and the level doesn't
contain any specials or strange things - it's just a level.

WHAT IS IT???

Is there a way for me to redirect my subscription to this list
rather than unsubscribing from one address and subscribing from
my new one?

Why would you do that? It's really a simple 2 step process.

Either that or alter your card's setup. It's possible for some, not for
others. Open the defaul MIDIMAP configuration for a GMIDI voice list and
configure your card's sound list to match.

There's source code for a .MUS player called musserver, which plays
music directly from the IWAD file. It's for Linux Doom-players, because
Linux?Doom doesn't support music. It's on
ftp://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/ somewhere, can't remember the exact
location. It should be easy enough to convert this for G-Midi, under
DOS.

I have run across that problem before, The only thing that I found to
possible create it was a sector about 16 grid away that was equal to the
height that I fell. I moved the adjacent sector over about 16 more and it
fixed the problem, but I have seen this problem before, without any
sectors?! I think its some kind of BSP fluke.

Ontic was great! Where can I get Sudtic and Teutic?
