If u have a SB (i assume u do if your asking for them :) ) then u can record
them yourself using a Sound Recorder from Win and hooking up a cassete
player of CD player to your computer. It records as WAVs, but you can
convert them or use a MIDI program.

If the problem was with your MODEM.CFG then that was the only part of the
patch that screwed up. When I upgraded from V1.7a -> 1.9 it worked fine
except for the MODEM.CFG was not working. I simply got one from a friend,
and everything worked great! So, its probably easier to just upgrade from
1.7a to 1.9 then borrow a friend's MODEM.CFG...

Hate to tell you that WAV and MIDI files are completely different.
Although I have seen some semi-decent MIDI->WAV converters, the
opposite is impossible...

Untrue! Transparent uppers and lowers are how you make bulletproof
glass.

You all know how to make bulletproof glass don't you?

Indeed. The only way to "Make" midi's is to get a good midi
sequencer and program in songs one note at a time, There are midi ftp
sites out there...i just don't know any off hand.

Any educated(!) guesses would be appreciated, as I am having trouble tracking
down the FOS problem which is infesting a pwad I am working on in numerous
places. Since I am trying to fix a pwad that was originally done for Doom I
& II (no documentation with the pwad) it is really irratating to have this
visual deffect, especially since I have spent the last two months tracking
down and eradicating some other visual deffect due to the way the wad was
designed. All educated guesses are welcome. Any factual fixes would b
received with much heartfelt thanks.

OK, Doom will allow transparent uppers and lowers. I really don't
think that those would apply in this case, though. In this instance he
is trying to put walkable sectors inside of the structure (if I recall
correctly, he is making a building that can be walked into, with a low
ceiling). To encase the entire building structure in the special
transparent-upper technique is beyond my abilities. If you have a way to
do it, certainly share it with the designer (and the rest of us :).

^^^^^^^^^^^^

I keep hearing about this apparently impossible task; how could you convert
raw sound data (WAV format) to MIDI (which is a kind of PostScript for
music)? Can you give us the name of the program that does this?

Aaargh! Could you tell me where you found a link to this list?
Maybe we should ask the owner of this page to remove it. Only
joking... or not? :-/

OK, I have e-mailed the cheat codes to you. For all the other
people out there, these codes are available in the RGCD FAQ,
which is posted weekly in rec.games.computer.doom.announce and
in all other r.g.c.d.* newsgroups. This week's copy was posted
a few hours ago. If you cannot read the Usenet newsgroups, a
copy of the RGCD FAQ is available on the Web:
http://doomgate.cs.buffalo.edu/docs/mantis/
You can also get it via FTP from:
ftp://ftp.mantis.co.uk/pub/doom/periodic/

Now let's get back to DOOM EDITING topics, please...
