Are you on the wad-team list? Maybe they would be interested in such a
project? I just got on the list myself, so I'm relatively new to it.
Or would enough people in here be interested in starting a group
project like that? Me, I'm only a Doom level designer, Doom 2 is very
similar and I expect to work on levels for Heretic as well.

I don't know, but I have seen messages about it on the FidoNet DOOM echo
as well as in here. I think the net's are faster at getting the word out
than normal marketing schemes.

Have you looked at DETH23.ZIP? Its a DEU look-a-like, but is a GCC
version so it will see all of your computers RAM and it can edit;
Doom, Doom 2 and Heretic.

Boy that's a tough one. Heretic would be the one for magic wand kind
of stuff, but its still rather violent. New add-on levels are starting
to pop-up for it....you could try creating your own level, to meet
your needs. The violence is one of the things people like about these
games, I think you will be hard pressed to find such a level without
the blood & gore.
It would seem like there would be a better game for a child
her age than Doom or its spinoffs. Have to checked your local
computer store (ie. CompUSA, Egghead)? There are other shareware games
also, you might try "Jill of the Jungle" by Epic software, my friends
young daughters liked that a lot - the hero is a woman.

I'll take a look at Deth. There are some very good editors out there.
But, I'm used to the look and feel of DEU and want to work on D2 levels.
Since Deth sounds like a DEU clone, it might do the trick.

Yeah, Doom's not the greatest thing for young kids. However, in all cases
that I'm aware of, they love it. (A friend's 7 year old nailed me but
good with a plasma gun one night...) Maybe I can put something together
before Newt Gingrich and Jerry Falwell see one of their grandkids playing
Doom. Given things around here, the galciers will probably come first...
