I just called them myself and they don't have a clue, as you pointed
out. I suspect this is meant in the future tense and may not even be
distributed through 1 800 IDGAMES at all. More likely, they will
release the patch the same way they released the upgrades that
brought us to 1.9..

I do believe that John means what he is saying and didn't intend to
decieve anyone. However, 'everything they say, could be a lie' :)

Ps. Yeah, I know this thread has nothing to do with editing but...at
least, I haven't heard it a thousand times before.

An FTP Site: ftp.inc.net
In directory: \pub\awe32\midi\files
Every midi I have scarfed from this site is execellent quality.
A WWW Site: http://www.edu.isy.liu.se/~d93jesno/awe32.html
A good jumping point to sites with swell midi files.

I don't think there was any attempt at deception, either, but I do think
things have been bungled, perhaps due to the attempt to rush TUD to market.
In an ideal world, id, if they've intended all along to put out a free patch
for registered owners, should have placed a notice on the box, informing
registered owners about this patch and how to get it. The marketing people
probably would have all suffered coronaries had this been suggested ;)
Remember that there are surely many registered owners who don't subscribe to
the Doom mailing lists, don't read the newsgroups, maybe don't have even
have Net access (the shareware version is, after all, often sold in stores,
so one couldn't argue that anyone who got shareware Doom got it from the
Net). These people should be privy to the same information.

To Id Software: Why didn't you add to doom 2? Doom 2 has so much new stuff
that Doom 1 dons't. If you really wanted Doom 1, couln'd you at least has
stuck in the monsters from Doom 2. It would also be cool if you used the
Heretic engine with its looking up and down.

Haha! Just found it! Well, this probably means that the .exe has been changed
and we'll have to start almost all over again!

No way! Doom is Doom and Doom 2 is Doom 2. I don't think the double
barrel would fit in Doom levels with Doom-only enemies. Though, a few
new walls could have been added.
