Subject: About to release a DOOM editor...
I'm on the verge of releasing a new DOOM editor called ED209.
(I was inspired by the name.)
I've read somewhere that utility writers must register with
id. If this is true, how do I do this?
And what are id's rules for editors? (ie: Not creating levels
that work with shareware, etc.)
This editor kicks ass. Look out for it soon!

Subject: WinDEU 5.23 released!
Hi everybody!
Last monday, I announced the release of WinDEU 5.23 on the
newsgroup rec.games.computer.doom.editing. I was away at
the end of last week and I waited a bit before announcing
this new release to this list (err... maybe because I like
the newsgroups better than mailing lists), but here is the
announcement anyway:
WinDEU 5.23 has been released today. This port of DEU 5.2 to Windows (with
lots of nice enhancements) has been made by Renaud Paquay. I won't describe
all the new features here, but it comes with an extensive help file which
should get you started. A must for Windows users!
WinDEU comes in three files:
w16deu52.zip - 16 bits version
w32deu52.zip - 32 bits version (requires NT or Win32s)
wscdeu52.zip - full source code!
(a fourth file, windeu52.txt, describes what is in the three other ones)
WinDEU uses a modified version of the new license for DEU 5.3. Read the
file "LICENSE" which is included in the ZIP files for more info about
distribution and modifications of WinDEU (for example, the three files
should always be distributed together, without any modifications). It is
not public domain anymore, but it is still free software. And it comes
with the source code. Enjoy!
These files are available on ftp.cdrom.com (currently in the directory
/pub/idgames/newstuff, but they should be moved soon to utils/level_edit).
They are also available from the official DEU ftp server:
ftp2.montefiore.ulg.ac.be, in /pub/doom/deu (note: I put a very low limit
on the number of anonymous users because the load was too high. If you
don't come from Europe, you'd better take the files from ftp.cdrom.com).
Renaud is now working on WinDEU 5.3, which is a port of DEU 5.3 to Windows.
Yes, I know that DEU 5.3 has not been released yet... Expect a beta
version soon. A stable one. But please don't ask when. :-) Play with
WinDEU 5.23 while you are waiting... You won't be disapointed by what
Renaud has done. Great job!
By the way, WinDEU works very well with WinTex. If you are a fanatic of
Windows and Doom, you must have these two programs!
