Quoting Ross Carlson to Charlie Acord:

>Oh, don't tempt me! =8)

I'd love to play you....it really chaps my butt that there are so many good
players out there that I can't play because I can't afford the LD charges
(actually, I *can* afford it....it's my wife who says we can't, and she
thinks I spend _far_ too much time on this silly game as it is).

I guess that's a "glass half full" view of the same situation <g>.

You make some excellent points about playing co-op and multi-player (> 2)
DM. Your observations don't apply to me, tho, cause I almost always play
2-man. I started playing netDOOM at the office after work, but could only
find one guy who would play with me regularly. Other guys tried it, but got
stomped and never came back. The majority of DM that I have played has been
at home over null-modem connection, since I had an old modem that did not
handle DOOM well. However, even if I played a lot of multi-player DM, I
don't think I'd be attracted to a "team" format....the reason I like to play
DM is so you can kill everything in sight, so I don't *want* any teammates,
just targets and dead bodies (gawd, I love this game so much it worries me
some times....).

How about telling me how I can get my hands on your homemade (not a
derogatory term, BTW) WADs so I can give them a try? Also, tell me the
names of your other favorites (those "awesome" ones you speak of having
found on the Net). I'd be glad to name and review some of my top DM and
single-play WADs if anyone is interested. We need to do something to get
some life in this list.

Looking forward to talkin' DOOM with you more in the future,

Charlie

P.S. A wise man (me) once said: "Talkin' DOOM is like talking about
sex....it's not quite as much fun as doing the real thing, but it's soooooo
much easier, nobody gets sweaty and messy, and you don't have to keep score
or worry about who won."

I am not so sure this is correct. The Wad that I was originally
posting about is now finished and the way I went about fixing the
problem doesn't support your answer. I agree with you that I am
overflowing some stack somewhere but I belive it has something to do
with the actual ammount of surfaces visible at any time. This
includes all walls, ceilings and floors. The WAD I was having the
problem in was fairly complex. It had a couple of points from which
a LOT of surfaces could be seen and whenever you tried to view from
that point DOOM would blow up. I was able to finally fix the problem
by raising the ceiling to a hieght that could not be seen by the
player. (since the ceiling was F_SKY it wasn't a problem). The WAD
is called sic_em.wad and it is at FTP.CDROM.COM (yes there's a DOOM][
version). The most interesting thing about it is that if you stand
in the northeast corner on the ledge, IDCLIP and take one step
backwards the game will crash. That's how closely I cut the visiplane
problem on this one. So if any of you have never seen a visiplane crash
before go get the WAD and give it a try.

Anyway, even if you couldn't care less about the visiplanes thing,
give it a looksee. If anything else, it *is* a blast to play.

Have a great day,
John

I got a new WAD that Ross is testing, or should be (AHEM, Ross!). I think
it should be kinda fun, so if you wanna play it when its done itll be called
RADIUS1. Yes, first in a series (possibly). I will have it done Monday,
probably.
PS to Charlie: This person you play mostly at work wouldn't be Gil Hennon, would
it? Just wondering.
