Well, all you have to do is run the DATE command and change the time.
Somebody should give a byte offset to stomp NOPS onto to disable this
time-bomb. Of course, this will all be irrelevant when the "real"
release hits the "shelves".

Subject: New Pallette in Heretic?

I was able to export all of the flats and textures in the Heretic wad by
setting the working directory to HT_Beta in Deutex.

There's just one hitch, the colors of the extracted files are all mapped
wrong. The playpal in Heretic is10752 bytes and the Doom playpal included
with Deutex is 2853 bytes.

This color mapping problem appears in the same way when using several other
texture viewing utilities.

It appears that Heretic uses a different (and perhaps larger) color pallette
than Doom or Doom2.

I tried renaming the playpal.lmp Heretic file I got from the extraction and
using it with Deutex and Wadview, but it didn't help.

Does anybody out there know how to get any of the texture viewing utilities
to load the Heretic pallette so that the colors are mapped correctly?

I've downloaded the Heretic Beta from three sources and the file-size was
the same from all three. However, each time I unzipped, installed, and
tried to run the game, it bombs out during init with the message:
"Corrupt Wad-file."

Is it my system (bad HD blocks? Conflict with a TSR?), or has anyone else
had this problem? Maybe something to do with the date thingy?

Happy Holidays to you all.

Yes. I sat the system date on the PC to 21.11.94, and it worked again. The beta
version is not supposed to be run after friday, I guess.

set your clock back to before friday and it will work
you can get the full shareware version now, however.
