well, that's fine and dandy, but incoming on ftp.cdrom.com does not
have write access for anonymous users...how bout uploading the beta to
the incoming directory on another site that is read and write? thanx.

i'd appreciate it very much since I've been downloading it via fsp for
the past 20 min's and it is still not done...

I know I'm not the first to ask this, but could someone put it on a more
accessable site? ftp.idsoftware.com is refusing connections, I can't get
FSP to compile anyways, and everyone knows the problem with ftp.cdrom.com.

I just don't want to be left out in the cold. :)

someone PLEASE get heretic and put it somewhere PUBLICLY ACCESSABLE!!!

its rather frustrating staring at the file on ftp.cdrom.com, yet unable

I got it from a bot off IRC (I won't say which, to avoid it being flooded
off), and made several attempts to put it on ftp.uwp.edu, but NO SPACE
LEFT ON DEVICE.

I don't have that many sites, I'm afraid, but if anybody can name some
sites where it'd be immediately available I'd be happy to put it on
them. I was even considering uuencoding it and putting it on a.b.d, but I
decided I'm not that insane. :)

Yeah, but I find it both refreshing and reassuring that this bunch of
mature, experienced, level-headed (pun?) "advanced DOOM editors" goes nuts
just like everybody else when a "new DOOM" comes available.

He's right though. The list should get back on topic.

OK, if anybody is still looking for Heretic, mail ME. I've got a list of
sites, and a good copy online if worse comes to worse. I'd also
appreciate some more sites to put it on to lessen the overall load.
Mail any questions to ME directly.

This is just wishful thinking, but hopefully this can be the last post on
this subject.

Ya know, I'm taking a stroll through HERETIC and I am realizing that
it is an excellent example of DOOM editing. So I disagree with
anyone who says that discussion of HERETIC should stop. I do not
feel that we should be discussing game play or availability etc. but
one could learn a lot about level design by looking closely at this
game. The asthetics are marvelous.

By the way, the fourth secret is a small room behind the secret door
in southeast corner of the room you start in. ;)

Have a nice day,

This is a message for everyone, editors, Id software programmers, etc...
Heritic is a mainly a reversed engineered doom2.exe file. Would it
be possible to make a doom2.exe that would allow the player to look up and
down? Also, some of the newer Doom-like games are allowing two rooms to be
on top of one another.. Will the full version of Heritic be able to do this,
and will there ever be a Doom][ or patch for Doom][ to allow this?

I had a few minutes before work to check it out... nice sprites...
Later I will look at the wad file and mabe (shudder) the exe. Is the

I don't think it can be, there will have to be some indication of
water depth and current direction (and perhaps speed?).

As far as I can tell from these three levels, however, there doesn't
seem to be much more differnt than that, I mean structure-wise of
course. Bet any of us who have been doing this for a while could
build something pretty close to it, (in a couple of months...er or
so) if we really tried.
