Actually, it is partially my fault. Jim Pitts was originally set up infant2
so that no one could download anything at all. He was really pissed off
because someone kept trying to upload DOOM ][. I suggested that most BBS's
(shame) that I used to frequent had incoming directories that were not
accessable (sp?) to the outside except for incoming files and that this might
slow down people trying to upload illeagl stuff if they new it would be
inspected before it was made available. He liked the idea and used it. Sorry.

Subject: Announce: DMADDS 1.1 dos
---- Announcing: DMADDS 1.1 for DOOM 1.2/1.666/][ ----
DMADDS11.ZIP is uploaded at ftp.orst.edu:/pub/doom/incoming,
and will hopefully appear in NEWSTUFF soon.
This is the DMADDS 1.1 dos package for PWAD development.
If you only want to replace DMADDS 1.0beta, i.e. if you
want to use 1.2 PWADs for 1.666 or ][, use the binary only
DMADD11B.ZIP package. No guarantee. I'd like to recommend
releasing an updated version of the sprite PWADs.
The files dmadds11.zip and dmadd11b.zip should replace
the ftp.orst.edu:/pub/doom/wad_edit/misc/dmadds1b.zip
files.
DMADDS 1.1 as well as the empty PWAD files provided should
work with any registered IWAD now. Of course, concerning the
amount or "official patches" around, there is no way to be
sure. I have no US version of the ][ IWAD, as the secret
levels are missing in the german version.
There might be lots of warnings, if you are copying 1.2
PWADs into ][ PWADs, but as long as the missing sprites aren't
used, it will work. DMADDS 1.1 will not abort on missing sprites.
If there are no bugs, this is the final DOS release. There
might be an extended Linux version soon. Please report any
bugs to Bernd.Kreimeier@nero.uni-bonn.de.

That's rather simple. The way I'm doing it with DMapEdit is to just check
if map01 through map32 all exist. If not, I assume this isn't a real Doom
II IWAD. For Doom I, I check for e1m1 through e3m9. If any one of these
are missing, boom, you are shareware. I think my editor is the only one
that's this picky about checking really.

Oh, ok. BTW, Raphael finally added the DEU DOOM ][ compatability. :) I
hope I can get my hands on an alpha soon so I can start some extra coding
(well, like I have time now, but still).
Also: I heard a rumor that the version sold in Germany does not have the
two secret levels for obvious reasons. So you might just want to check
for MAP01 to MAP30.

Hold up a sec. Wouldn't it be alot nicer if you made it check only
1-*30*? What about the Germans? They only get 1-30. I think this is a
much fairer may as well as not alienating anyone.
