Subject: RMB v 2.0 released.
I have just finished version 2.0 of RMB.
I have made it available at my WWW page:
http://www.daimi.aau.dk/~hykkelbj/doom.html
It has not been possible for me to upload it to
infant2, because of some disk problems:
"No space left on device."
Does anyone know when it will be possible to
upload again?
RMB v 2.0 can process Doom ][ files just as well as doom 1 files.
In version 2.0 some bugs from v 1.2 has been corrected.
A new manual has been written by Steve Benner,
who also helped by pointing out problems and suggestions for RMB.

Subject: DOOM II
The VERY latest DOOM II .EXE (as of TODAY) is v1.7a. The difference between
1.7 and 1.7a is the ending text screen has a different tech support number --
nothing to worry about. The difference between 1.666 and 1.7 is more major.
There are some level bugs fixed along with some programming things. The big
difference is that if you want to network with someone, Level 2 will bomb out
because there's a major difference between the versions on that level. After
going through the first door, the vertical bars on the left side (1.666) have
been removed (1.7).
Don't take the 1.666 versions back to the store! We are releasing a 1.666->1.7a
patch within a week! (We're waiting for our copy of RTPATCH to arrive).
There were 100,000 copies of 1.666 pressed, but I don't know how many were
CD-ROM's & how many were floppies.
Also, it's very uncool to be posting the 1.7 DOOM II .EXE. Similarly, someone
could post the DOOM II .WAD and say it's useless since he didn't provide the
DOOM II .EXE. All of DOOM II is a commercial product. If you happen to own
the registered version of DOOM, you can replace your .EXE with DOOM II's .EXE
to update your sound code, but don't be uploading it. Make sure you rename
DOOM2.EXE to DOOM.EXE as well, in your DOOM directory.
Aliens-TC totally kicks ass!
Something else very cool: have any of you heard of the DWANGO server in
Houston? A company called IVS has an 8-node DOOM server that will allow 2-4
players to play DOOM or DOOM II over a modem! The number is 713-467-9272 for
their BBS. You will need to download a file called DWANGO.ZIP. The voice
number is 713-467-9272. This service is totally awesome! We're seriously
thinking about supporting these guys to make it bigger.

Did you fix the Arch-vile bug? Where if he re-animates a crushed body
(by a door or a crushing ceiling) he creates an invulnerable monster that
walks through walls (who said the monsters can't IDDQD and IDCLIP as well!).

I have heard of it, but I have something better! I have a 12-node server
allowing two for four player games RIGHT NOW. 604-576-1214 for the BBS,
604-576-1201 for the server and 604-534-5663 for voice. Wrote some custom
software that you run instead of SERSETUP.EXE. Once you fixed the bug
that caused consistancy failures if ticdup > 0 it started working great.
I would have had a 12 node server in March if it wasn't for that bug. :)

Hey, how about supporting me? I've had my server open for two weeks
now. Runs under SCO Unix using intelligent Digiboards.

John, this is nothing new(you're the id guys, you're supposed to know
about these things before we do! :). There is a patch for the Major BBS
Serial Connection(sirdoom.zip on the Major BBS BBS), and a compnay who is
developing a 32-bit, 256-user Doom server(APCMGS), to be used with their
freeware 4-player modem doom client software. Support them, not just one bbs!
