NOTE: With the economy as it is, the HBD is struggling to
meet its meager operating expenses of approximately $3400
per year. If less than half of those currently directly
subscribed to the HBD sent in a mere $5.00, the HBD would
be able to easily meet its annual expenses, with room to
spare for next year. Please consider it.

Subject: Flat beer update

Thanks again to all who responded to my post about two batches of flat beer
a few weeks ago.

I'm not sure if the rousing of the yeast or just "time in a bottle" as the
song goes did the trick, but the Abbey Dubbel has carbonated nicely and
turned out to be one of my better efforts.

The IPA still hasn't hit what I'd consider to be ideal carbonation but it
too has turned out to be drinkable.

Maybe all I needed was some patience!

This weekend I'm planning to make a Founder's Brewery Breakfast Stout clone.
Let's hope for the best!

We are in the process of building a new mash tun. It will be aprox. 25"
in diameter. Can anyone suggest a source of perforated stainless steel
that I can use for the false bottom.
Thanks in advance.
Ralph
