Howdy Good People,
I am reaching out- seeking contacts, advice, and notes of interests for an
upcoming venture to the Asturias region of Spain.
I am in the region Oct 2nd - 9th of this year. My family and I are in
search of an educational experience aimed at expanding our knowledge of the
lovely mysterious cloud that is Spanish cider. Spanish orchards do not seem
to be talked about much in the US, but since I am an orchardist, Spanish
orchards are equally part of the intrigue.
Thus far, the agenda has stayed very open and fluid. I am writing to see if
you all can't help us nail down some adventures.
I am planing on staying next to the town of Nava ( this is not yet in
stone). And from there have no real dates, locations or classes.
Any and all advice is appreciated! Please chime in!

I am new to this list, so I apologize for the early self promotion but...
One new competition worth considering is the Good Food Awards. I am the
committee chair for the cider category in its first year as a standalone
entity (ciders were accepted last year for the first time as a
separately-judged subcategory of beer, but I've convinced the organizers to
see the error in their ways). The entry period begins July 6th, and will
extend throughout the month. It should be a great this year! The judging
is a bit looser than it is in some competitions in that it does not adhere
to strict style guidelines. The ciders will be judged within two
categories, which can be explored here:
http://www.goodfoodawards.org/cider/cider-criteria/. I'd love to see some
of you producers entering this year! Please don't hesitate to email me
privately with any questions.
Thank you!
