too specific, but stay in Cambremer. Or Liseux, if you want something a
little bigger. Pierre Huet and Etienne DuPont are both in Cambremer. But
even more interesting are all the farm cideries on the Route de Cidre. Be
sure to visit Grandval, just a couple of kilometers outside of town.
The tourist bureau in Cambremer has great info and is very helpful. Madame
Camus has a nice B&B just outside of town. Au Petit Normande, one of two
restaurants in town, is wonderful.

Hello,

My wife and I own a Cidery in Upstate NY. We just recently came back from
Normandie and have since published a blog about our trip. We have some
"must see" cideries in our blog. Feel free to reach out with any questions.

Stuart, a visit to Normandy always is an extraordinary experience for
a cider maker. My first suggestion would be that you get the
beautiful book written by Charles Neal, Calvados, the Spirit of
Normandy. In this book, he introduces you to over 200 cider and
calvados producers in Normandy! This is a true reference guide. Plus
it is a quite recent book (2011) and is up-to-date.

For my part, I was there last November and I met about half a dozen
producers. Every one was worth a visit... But I don't really think
those I saw are necessarily more must-visit than all the others! When
that cider maker over there understands you know about cider and you
are not just an ordinary tourist, he opens-up and is ready to show
everything and talk about it! It helps if you understand and speak
French... Many live from tourism however and can say a few words of English.

I?ve been asked do a cider-making demonstration for a public garden
in Summit, New Jersey. Does anyone in that area have, or know of, a
small cider press (one of the old two-barrel hand presses would be
fine) that we could borrow? If the price is right, we might be able
to buy it, but since it?s probably a once-a-year event, we can?t
afford much. Rental is certainly an option as well. We should be
able to pick up and return the equipment with our own
transportation. You can reach me at m.montefusco@reeves-
reedarboretum.org. Thanks!

Definitely check out Chateau de Brouay. The owners Alex and Maud are
just visiting the Pacific Northwest and tracked us down. We don?t have a
public tasting room or address published on the web, so they had to work
to find us!. We spent a really nice afternoon showing them the orchard,
cider house and sharing cider making ways. We definitely have very
different approaches and it was good to share perspectives. Both speak
English very well.
