I am getting an urge to plant some classic French cider apples (especially
bittersweet apples) in my back yard to supplement the giant MacIntoshish
old tree from pioneer days. I know I can get a lot of great varieties from
Oregon but haven't found much information about what varieties do well in
the Denver area, or whether any local nurseries/orchards/research stations
sell bonafide cider trees. Any advice from Colorado ciderists would be
appreciated. They don't need to be French specifically but that's the type
of flavor I'm looking for.

There have been several posts regarding this yeast over the past few
months, enough that I have decided to give it a try this year. I have in
my hands, a 500g package, which is several times more than I need.

So, anyone who would like some, *and will be at Cider Days this weekend*,
is welcome to find me in Shelbourne late-ish morning through to the first
cider salon (and then again, after the second one is over).

Bring your own container to take it home in. I'd like to distribute it in
1 TBSP divisions (about 8 gms ea), and I'd like to get a dollar per, just
to offset some of what it cost me to get the package.

I'm easy enough to find at Cider Days.. Look for a black Grand Cherokee
with Connecticut plates, wherever people are sampling out their ciders..
and/or look for a somewhat heavy-set guy with brown hair, a short beard
and small round glasses.

I've started a small-scale cider operation, called Rainshadow Hard Cider,
in Edmonds, Washington. I do all aspects myself, from planting the hard
cider apple trees, to picking the fruit, crushing the apples and pressing
the juice in small batches. My blend includes Brown Snout, Yarlington
Mills, Granny Smith, Kingston Black and Golden Russet.

For my first year, I'll participate in many public tastings to fine tune my
recipes and scale up for the second year. I hope to increase production to
a level that will allow me to continue the handcrafted approach I'm
