We use green for many products. Mostly because we like it. We don't use
amber for anything - I don't want my cider to look like beer (on the shelf).
I make a fruit cider with a strawberry juice component. I am very concerned
about UV pigment bleaching on that one product. The pigment just isn't
very stable.
We routinely use flint W5 bottles for still cider. The main issue is that
they really show any sediment.

Well, if you missed it, you missed it! Here
is my meager offering of photos from this year:

Great domestic and international
representation this year as the results will
show when they're posted.
I just want to encourage more commercial and
non-commercial cider & perry makers to enter
next year! Also, if you can, consider
judging the competition to get some fantastic
training and experience with the subtleties
of flavor profiles and styles.
I'm just say'n..

I'm learning (the hard way) about fire
blight. I'm uploading videos to YouTube
right now on what I've found and what I'm
going to try and do to deal with it. I'm
taking some comfort that fire blight does not
appear to be a systemic disease, and can be
mitigated with pruning
(http://www.ars.usda.gov/is/ar/archive/jun97/fireblight0697.htm?pf=1).
I'd certainly appreciate any comments and
recommendations. I do NOT have a spray
license, so un-restricted organic solutions
(proven) would be greatly appreciated.
My orchard is poorly placed in a cool/damp
location, so I'll be promptly sealing all
pruning cuts from now on.
