Ingredients:
- 1 9-inch pie crust, unbaked
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups whole milk
- Ground nutmeg, for sprinkling
Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Place the pie crust in a 9-inch pie plate and crimp the edges as desired.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, salt, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Heat the milk in a saucepan over medium heat until it just begins to simmer.
- Slowly pour the hot milk into the egg mixture, whisking constantly to prevent curdling.
- Pour the custard mixture into the pie crust.
- Sprinkle the top of the custard with ground nutmeg.
- Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the custard is set around the edges but slightly jiggly in the center.
- Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool completely on a wire rack.
- Once cooled, refrigerate the pie for at least 2 hours before serving.
