_____Ingredients:_____
For the Marble Cake:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs, room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup buttermilk, room temperature
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/4 cup hot water
_____Directions:_____
Preheat the oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
In a small bowl, mix together the cocoa powder and hot water to create a smooth paste.
Transfer half of the cake batter to another bowl. Stir the cocoa paste into one half of the batter until well combined.
Spoon alternating dollops of vanilla and chocolate batter into the prepared loaf pan. Use a knife to gently swirl the batters together to create a marbled effect.
Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.
