Classic Tiramisu ππ°
Prep Time: 30 minutes | Total Time: 4 hours 30 minutes | Servings: 12 servings
Ingredients:
- 6 large egg yolks
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese, softened
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cups strong brewed coffee, cooled
- 1/4 cup coffee liqueur (such as Kahlua or Tia Maria)
- 2 (3-ounce) packages ladyfinger cookies
- Unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting
Directions:
- In a heatproof bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until well combined.
- Place the bowl over a saucepan of simmering water, making sure the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water. Cook, whisking constantly, until the mixture thickens and lightens in color, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove the bowl from heat and let cool slightly.
- Add mascarpone cheese to the egg mixture and whisk until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated. Set aside.
- In a shallow dish, combine brewed coffee and coffee liqueur.
- Dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture briefly, allowing them to soak up some of the liquid without becoming too soggy.
- Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone mixture evenly over the ladyfingers.
- Repeat the layers, finishing with a layer of mascarpone mixture on top.
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
- Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with unsweetened cocoa powder.
