2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon poppy seeds
Zest of 2 oranges
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup fresh orange juice
1/2 cup milk

Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease and line a 9-inch round cake tin with parchment paper.
In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, poppy seeds, and orange zest until combined.
In a separate large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until pale and creamy.
Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the orange juice and milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
Pour the batter into the prepared cake tin and smooth the top with a spatula.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool in the tin for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
