Resident Evil 0 (Walkthrough)
Hello everyone, this time I present you the full walkthrough of the fantastic game Resident Evil 0, initially released on the Nintendo's Game Cube in 2002. The game is very good and introduces a new gameplay mechanic. Resident Evil 0 is a mix between the classic Resident Evil and an adventure game. You can play with two characters, Rebecca and Billy, who help each other. The downside of this title is that there are no item boxes to store items; instead, you have to use the LEAVE command to discard what you don't need. I recommend always using Billy because he can withstand many hits, at least more than Rebecca; in the Spencer Mansion, leave Rebecca at the main entrance because she's the weaker character. Always keep your partner on Idle mode because ammunition is scarce (when you start playing with Billy, leave the knife behind because it's useless).

1 - Resident Evil 0 story
One day in 1988, Spencer, the owner of Spencer Mansion, ordered the assassination of his colleague James Marcus, the owner of Training Facility. Marcus was working on specimens called LEECHES, which carried the T-Virus and were responsible for reviving him. Later, on July 23, 1998, a train traveling through Racoon Forest was attacked by leeches obedient to the call of the new and rejuvenated James Marcus. Two hours later, the Bravo team of the S.T.A.R.S. unit was sent to investigate, but a small explosion from an engine forced them to make an emergency landing. On the ground, Rebecca, a rookie from the STARS team, found a van transporting a convict named Billy Coen, who was to be executed. Rebecca then found a train and upon entering, she couldn't get out. On the train, she encountered the convict Billy and they decided to collaborate to survive. Later, upon arriving at the cabin, Albert Wesker and William Birkin ordered the destruction of the train. Upon reaching the Training Facility, Billy and Rebecca must survive by killing the creatures created by Marcus.

3 - Resident Evil 0 enemies
- Zombie: A human mutated by the T-virus who wants to eat you. Still, it's weak and you can easily kill it with the Handgun.
- Cerberus: A dog mutated by the T-virus that craves human flesh. It's agile and easy to kill.
- Insect: Cockroach mutated by the T-Virus. Preferably kill it with the Shotgun or the Grenade Launcher.
- Leech Zombie: A Zombie formed by hundreds of leeches. To kill it, use fire grenades or Molotov Cocktails, because if you kill it with something else, you'll have to flee to avoid being damaged by its explosion.
- Scorpion: A very large scorpion that appears on the train. Try to kill it with the Hunting Gun.
- Hunter: Also called B.O.W, as its name suggests, it hunts from all angles. It is very fast and one of the strongest enemy in the game. Kill it with the Shotgun and/or the Grenade Launcher.
- Crow: This enemy is very weak and you can kill it with a single shot. The only thing it can do is peck you.
- Centipede: This is a heavy enemy, I recommend using Billy and the Shotgun, but if you haven't obtained it, use the Hunting Gun and be careful. When you have 14 Shotgun ammo, use the Handgun to avoid wasting it recklessly.
- Tyrant: A prototype of Umbrella with a claw and resembling a human. Preferably kill it with the Magnum.
- Queenie: It's the transformation Marcus undergoes before telling you how he became younger. Try to kill it with the Magnum, but if you don't have enough rounds, use the Grenade Launcher and/or the Shotgun.
4 - Resident Evil 0 weapons
- Handgun: Basic and weak weapon. Strong against crows and zombies, weak against hunters and insects.
- Shotgun: Stronger than the Hunting Gun, occupies three times more space than the Hunting Gun. Strong against everything except Tyrant and Queenie.
- Magnum: A weapon that is strong enough to kill small enemies, effective against everything. You obtain it on the cable car near the end.
- Hunting Gun: This weapon is similar to the Shotgun but weaker. You find it on the train and it holds 2 bullets.
- Grenade Launcher: A weapon capable of firing 3 different types of grenades: Acid, Burst, and Fire. I recommend using it because you can kill Leech Zombies in 2 shots.
- Molotov Cocktail: Formed from the mixture of a gas tank with empty bottles, effective against leeches, but you have to calculate the distance.
- Rocket Launcher: The most powerful weapon in the game capable of destroying any enemy with one shot, including Tyrant and Queenie. You can only have this weapon if you complete the game on normal difficulty in less than 3 and a half hours.
- Submachine Gun: It's a powerful machine gun, so to speak, can shoot multiple shots in a short time. Effective against large enemies. You will get this weapon if you complete the game in less than 5 hours.
5 - Resident Evil 0 walkthrough
Resident Evil 0 is divided into 8 parts. I'll let you know when you have to switch to Disc 2. Never forget to take the Empty Bottles and the Gas Tank to make effective Molotov Cocktails to kill the Leech Zombies and the Super Queen.
A: THE TRAIN
You start the game in a dark cabin. Head left and enter the door. After that, you'll see a video.
When the video ends, kill the Zombie closest to the bottom of the screen and enter the door. In the new room, keep advancing (optional: If you want extra ammo, enter the doors to your right). You'll see that your partner got injured and you'll have to kill the Cerberus that entered through the window. It will take 3 to 4 shots with the Handgun to kill each one, and there are 2; after killing them, go to the end of the room, check the body to get the "Train Key" and then watch a video where Billy appears.
After that, go back to the Zombie room and try to dodge them, or kill them. Enter the door, go straight, and use the key you just obtained. In the new room, you'll see Billy. Go up the stairs, approach the screen and watch a video where the first Leech Zombie of the game is created. Ignore it and go downstairs where you'll see another video where Billy helps you. Now you control Rebecca and Billy, to switch characters press X. Press Start to separate them, press Start again to join them. Now there won't be a Leech Zombie anymore. Press Start and go to the end of the train's cabin where you'll be taught that you can go up on the roof. Climb up and reach the end of the roof. Make Rebecca re-activate the energy on the panel for it to fall. Then switch to Billy and return to the room where you found the Leech Zombie.
Go downstairs and enter the automatic door and wait at the elevator. Switch to Rebecca, take the key and send the key to Billy via the elevator. Leave your Handgun ammo on the floor, take the ones on the shelf and send them to Billy after he has taken the key (if you want, you can also send him the green herb on the shelf). Switch to Billy and take the Handgun ammo and the key. Then head to where you killed the Cerberus, use the key to enter the semi-hidden door and discard it. In the new room, you can take the train map. On the map you can see the location of Rebecca, Billy and the different weapons discovered up to know. Press the flashing red button, go up, and you'll be in a very large room. Go to the end and enter the door; on the cart there is the “Ice Pick”. Take it and enter the door on your right. Here, leave your Handgun, Handgun ammo, and the Ice pick; now take the Hunting Gun and Shotgun ammo, leave the room, and enter the next room.
BOSS: SCORPION (Use the Hunting Gun)
This boss is one of the easiest to kill, but most troublesome ones. Get as close to it as possible, aim, shoot, and run. Try not to waste shots. Keep in mind that whenever you hit it, it charges at you. If you run out of Shotgun rounds, use the handgun.
Once you've defeated it, go to the end of the room and pick up the MANHOLE OPENER near the stairs, then go back for your Handgun, Handgun ammo, and Ice Pick, leaving your Hunting Gun and Shotgun ammo behind. Return to the small elevator and send the Ice Pick to Rebecca. Switch to Rebecca and pick up your Handgun ammo and the Ice Pick in the elevator. Use the Ice Pick on the door, open it, and in the shelf of the room, pick up the Handgun ammo. Go down the stairs.
Switch to Billy and exit through the door, then press Start to call Rebecca. Use the MANHOLE OPENER you found when you killed the Scorpion to open a hatch, go in there and kill the Cerberus; pick up the Gold ring, unlock the door on the left and enter the one on the right. Press Start to separate the characters, and with Billy, lower the lever. With Rebecca go where some locks have opened and pick up the Hookshoot. Switch to Billy and call Rebecca. Now return to the room where you found the 1st Zombie. Give Rebecca some bullets and use the Hookshoot on the window, then continue and drop down the hole; kill the Zombie and pick up the box. Leave the room and return to Billy. Go to the captain's room and pick up the briefcase, examine the box and combine it with the briefcase so you can see the card. Collect the card. Use the card to open the door and proceed. Enter the door and leave Rebecca here, pick up the magnetic Card on the shelf and the Handgun ammo in the bathroom. With Billy, try to reach where you got the Hookshoot, trying to dodge or kill the Zombies. Use the magnetic Card in the left corner there. You'll have to insert a combination of 10 numbers to control the train's brake.
Here are the options:
- 81 = 9-9-9-9-9-9-9-9-8-1
- 36 = 4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-2-2
- 67 = 8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-2-1
Now you'll have to do the same with Rebecca, although the problem is that the operations have to be mental. Once you've done it, you'll have completed the train level.
B: Training Facility
Now you are at the train crash site. Grab the items that magically escaped from the train's crash and try to dodge the Zombies in the area. Cross the small lake and climb the stairs. You'll see a video explaining the beginnings of the Umbrella corporation.
Leave unnecessary items here and head to the upper door on the left side; take the Crank Handle and quickly escape from the crows. Head to the door behind the statue, grab the Shotgun Shells, and take the door on the other side. Kill the Zombies and enter the double door. Take the Microfilm A, put Rebecca on the elevator and send her up. (If you have the Hunting Gun, kill the Insects, but it's not advisable). Dodge the Insects while trying to collect the ammunition. In the Crows' room, skip them without paying attention.
You'll enter a room that you must remember perfectly! Go up the stairs and unlock the door; switch to Billy and lead him to the door opposite to the one with the crows. Enter the door. Meet up with Rebecca. Have Rebecca go down the stairs, switch to Billy, and lift the box; take the key and prepare for battle.
BOSS: CENTIPEDE (Use the Hunting Gun)
Killing this enemy is easy. If you want to kill it without being hit, shoot it from the end of the stairs. Just keep shooting and press L several times to locate it.
Now that you've defeated the Centipede, go to the door in the same room and if you have an arsenal, kill the Insects and take the Grenade Launcher and the WHITE STATUE. Head to the red door you saw before the elevator room, enter, push the cabinet, turn on the light, get on the table, and take the IRON NEEDLE, as well as Handgun ammo and Shotgun ammo. Leave the room and go to where the Insects were, put the IRON NEEDLE on the clock and set it to 8:15.
Leave and enter the room that opened in the main hall. Kill the zombies and take the Microfilm B and the Shotgun ammo. Then enter the other opened door, kill the Zombies, and place the 2 Microfilms on the projector and receive the MO DISK (you can take the ammunition at the end of the room). Now go back down the hallway and flee from the Leech Zombie. Go to the other side of the same floor, kill the zombies and enter the red door. Take the LIGHTER FLUID and combine it with Billy's lighter. Go to the elevator, but now go to the closed door and light the lamp with your lighter, kill the Zombies, take the grenades, push the bookshelf to get the BOOK OF GOOD which when examined has some wings that you must combine with the WHITE STATUE. Put it on the entrance statue, enter the dining room, and enter the door at the back. Go right and kill the Zombies (if you have space in the inventory, take the Shotgun and the BLACK STATUE, if not, come back later) and go up.
Now clear the balcony and enter the door. Insert the MO DISK into the panel and it will ask you to enter a combination. Insert 2D-47-0A.

Now all the Knights' doors will open, go to the one nearby. Kill the Zombies, enter the double door; there, MOVE ONLY THE WHITE KING so that it is under the white tower to get the BOOK OF EVIL, take out the BLACK WING, and combine it with the BLACK STATUE. If you got poisoned, enter the room next door and take the blue herbs. Return to the statue and press the Statue to open a new path.
C: Training Facility Basement
Kill the spiders and enter the next room. I recommend that you pick up the herbs if you were injured. Now go through the door (you need Rebecca) and send Rebecca through the hole. Now go to the regulator and input the following sequence: Up, up, down, up, and up. Control will automatically switch to Billy because you need to rescue Rebecca.
Head to the dining room door and take the left, follow the path, and enter the door at the end. If you can dodge the monkeys, it's better, but if not, kill them (pick up the handgun ammo from the corner). Enter the door on the right, and you will have saved Rebecca. Then light the torches in the following order: Deer, Wolf, Horse, Lion, Snake, and Eagle to open the door, then enter the one on the right and take the UNITY TABLET. Then enter the door that is not where you saved Rebecca, pass the spiders, and enter the door on the right, kill the Insects, and take the LOCKER KEY. Enter the other door and use the LOCKER KEY on the locker. Take the briefcase and input 385 to open it, combine those parts with Billy's handgun, and you'll have a stronger handgun (there are several ammunitions there, take them, but if you're playing on normal, don't take the magnum ones hidden in a door). Then separate the characters and take Billy to the gates. With Rebecca, input the following combination on the panel: Left, center, left (whenever you input a combination, move Billy to the next gate, don't forget the Acid Grenades). Now switch to Billy, equip him with the Shotgun, and kill the Hunters. Don't forget the key.
D: Training Facility
Now backtrack all the way to Facility, but this time you need NAPALM GRENADES. If you don't have them, use the regular ones. Go to where the blue door is (where you got the Grenade Launcher) and use the key. Then take the door on the right and kill the Leech Zombie, don't forget the Vise Handle. In the main room, you'll also have to kill another zombie. Take the door on the right, and with Billy, play the piano. Enter with Rebecca and take everything inside; then play the piano again and call Rebecca. Then exit and take the next door. Then go right, kill the Zombies while picking up the Shotgun Shells; now use the Vise Handle in the corner to reveal another TABLET. Go to the main room, follow the red carpet to discover a door and enter. Place the BATTERY and lower the elevator, push the box so that it is under or next to the pillar to take the last TABLET. Go to the observatory dodging the insects and place the 3 TABLETS.
Disc 2
E: The Church
In this section, take Rebecca to the small house and press the mosaic to open the door to the church (make sure Billy has the Grenade Launcher with Acid Rounds, the handgun, and the Hookshoot).
Enter the door and enter another one inside the church, then return to the vestibule and get ready to be a little frustrated.
BOSS: GIANT BAT (use Acid Rounds and the Handgun)
This boss is frustrating because it's always up high and takes a long time to come down to be damaged. I recommend not wasting your Acid Rounds, but if you run out, use your Handgun as a survival weapon.
Another way to kill it is: The GIANT BAT isn't so difficult if you know how to kill it. First, what's most frustrating is when you press L and it only targets a small bat. You can mitigate this by standing at the back of the church where there's light, so they don't attack you as much. Then, without using L button, you can aim directly upwards and shoot when it approaches. This way, you can kill it with 3 or 4 Acid rounds easily.
Then approach the entrance after defeating the boss and use the Hookshoot, follow the path, go down the stairs, activate the elevator, exit, call Rebecca, and enter the elevator.
E: The Laboratory
After exiting the elevator, continue forward and enter the door. There, give Billy his Shotgun and set it to ATTACK mode to avoid any mishaps; similarly, give Rebecca the Molotov Cocktail, the Hookshoot, the Custom Handgun, and ammunition. Now send Rebecca through the hole above and kill the Leech Zombie (the Molotov Cocktails were for this purpose, although you can create more in that room). Approach the panel and take the LEECH CAPSULE. Leave the room and leave the Hookshoot in the second door to the left, as well as press the button at the entrance of the hallway and enter the door at the end; kill the Zombie pretending to be dead and take the Shotgun Ammo, as well as add Red Chemical to your MIXING SET. Enter the double door, kill the Zombies, retrieve the Green Chemical to mix it with the Red and then with the LEECH CAPSULE to obtain the BLUE LEECH CHARM. Send Billy the Molotov Cocktails, the LEECH CHARM, and the Shotgun Ammo.
Switch to Billy and take everything Rebecca sent, exit the door, equip your Molotov Cocktails, and kill the Leech Zombie, then place the LEECH CHARM on the door and enter.
Take the INPUT REGULATION COIL and enter the door; kill the Zombies and take the GREEN LEECH CHARM, then return to the library. Send Rebecca the LEECH CHARM. Switch to Rebecca, take the LEECH CHARM (take the First Aid Spray for what follows) and open the door, kill the 2 Zombies, and take the STERILIZING AGENT and Handgun ammo. Exit and put the STERILIZING AGENT to enter the small room, kill the 2 Zombies (the sleeping one wakes up) and take the BREEDING ROOM KEY. Kill the Hunters and take the Dial (if you get injured, use the First Aid Spray, but don't even think about using the Molotov Cocktails because you'll have problems), go to the operating room, and send the Dial to Billy, then leave and put it on the door by entering the code 4863. Enter, pull the lever, and switch to Rebecca. With her, leave the rooms, take the Hookshoot, and enter the only door you haven't entered yet, go downstairs and take the OUTPUT REGULATION COIL from the ground and receive the INPUT REGULATION COIL from Billy, leaving one space free for what's necessary. Now go up through the hole, put both REGULATION COILs, and save, you'll need it. Leave the useless Hookshoot behind and go down with Billy, give him the Shotgun ammo you found in the small room, and regroup. Leave both characters with this armament:
- Rebecca: Custom Handgun, Handgun ammo, Magnum ammo (you can carry the Grenade Launcher, but it will take up space and time).
- Billy: Shotgun, Shotgun ammo, Molotov cocktail, Rebecca’s Handgun.
Get on the train (you'll lose Billy for a moment), take the Magnum and activate the train's engine.
D: The Factory
Now, take the herbs and mix them. Follow your path and enter the door. Lower the small elevator and enter the door; go to the end and take the key, being careful with the Hunters that appear after taking it. Now go up and enter the door on the left, save and take your ammunition, besides using the key on the machine. Go down and go to the elevator to watch a video of Enrico, take the key and go to the other side, use the key on the buttons, equip your Magnum, and prepare for the classic Tyrant's battle.
BOSS: TYRANT (use the Magnum and Handgun)
This boss is easy to kill, just circle around him trying not to get hit by his claw, so when he gets distracted, you can shoot him. If you run out of the first 8 Magnum rounds, immediately switch to your Handgun to avoid problems.
Once defeated, go up the elevator and choose level 4.
D: Treatment Plant
This is the final part of the game, so I ask you to follow my instructions step by step. Follow the path while ignoring the video. Keep going until you reach a panel in front of which there is a typewriter and Handgun ammo. Now examine the panel.
The panel states that power can be activated in 2 points away in any direction. The goal is to have all points illuminated in green and for electricity to be activated at all points with power. To do this, just press the points labeled with 'E':

Now head to the elevator and go down, kill the Zombies, pick up the herbs and the Bottle. Now enter the door and kill the Leech Zombie. Proceed, enter the door, and kill the Zombie so you can descend later; there, go to the end of all the rooms by entering all the doors you find until you reach the bone yard and find Billy. Now go to the machine room, pick up the Shotgun Shells, and use Billy to solve the following puzzle after going down the stairs:
- Move the metal crate to the right.
- With Rebecca, press the panel and move the gate to the right.
- Switch to Billy and push the wooden crate until it matches the one at the bottom.
- Push the crate next to the one you moved towards the wall, so you can later move the metal one on the opposite side of the wooden ones.
- Push the wooden crate as before.
- Move the gate on the left side with Rebecca.
- Move the crate to the right so it's in front of the empty space.
- Move the gate on the left side with Rebecca.
- Push the crate into the space.
Now go up the stairs, fill the place with water, and get the VALVE. Leave the room, go up the stairs, leave the room, and kill the Zombies. Use the VALVE and kill the Zombies, using the Shotgun because there are several and they can harm you. Now (you can search for ammunition on the right side, but it's covered by a unconscious Zombie) go up the stairs, kill the Zombie, and put the Red Chemical in your MIXING SET. Go down and enter the door at the end. (I don't quite remember what follows, but I'm sure there are 2 Hunters ahead, which you can kill with the Shotgun) Now go through all the doors (rarely a toad comes out on the bridge, but ignore it) until you reach a room with dead bodies, where you can get ammo and health items. Take a few because I think you'll need them. Follow the path and reach the room with an elevator, but you'll have to clear it first; now get on the elevator and make sure BOTH CHARACTERS GET ON THERE. Now in that room, prepare for a not-so-easy fight.
BOSS: TYRANT (use the Magnum, Handgun, and Shotgun)
Space will be against you, but it won't be too much trouble to kill the Tyrant. Equip Rebecca with the Magnum and Custom Handgun, and Billy with the Shotgun. Whenever you're cornered, hit the Tyrant to make him stagger so that you can escape his claws during that time. It's better if you hit him from behind because he struggles to turn around.
Once you've defeated the Tyrant, go down the stairs and up again to obtain the MOTHERBOARD and return to the room with a gas leak. There, place the MOTHERBOARD and use Rebecca to operate the GONDOLA, move the lever, and reveal a path. Enter the door and kill the Insect, then mix the Red Chemical with the Blue Chemical and the INDUSTRIAL WATER. Open the door and descend the stairs. Switch to Billy, go down to the Tyrant area, enter the door, pick up the herbs, go down the stairs, ignore the toad, and climb the other stairs. Now you can either kill the Zombies or dodge them to open a door, enter (don't forget the ammunition), and give Rebecca a boost to obtain a battery, which you must combine with the BATTERY FLUID you made earlier. Now kill the evil Insects and go up the stairs. Enter the door you haven't entered before and make your way to where the machinery cart was. Insert the battery, but not before lifting Rebecca onto the crate and raising it to pick up the KEYCARD. Now return the same way you avoided or killed the Zombies. Use the KEYCARD on the door at the end, without forgetting the Shotgun ammo. Open the door, continue the path, and pick up the Magnum ammo to enter the door and prepare for one of the difficult fights.
BOSS: QUEEN LEECH (use the Magnum, Handgun, and Shotgun)
This enemy can easily kill you, so I suggest you save before engaging in the battle.
Use Rebecca, because if she gets caught, Billy can withstand more than Rebecca. Always run from it and then shoot. If it catches a teammate, help them as best you can. I recommend giving Rebecca the Magnum and Handgun, and Billy the Shotgun. Also, don't forget that there is Magnum ammo in a part of that area.
Another way to kill her is: when it's chasing you, you can position yourself in the corner and wait for it to approach. At that moment, pause the game and separate from Billy, putting him on "active." Then, while the queen attacks him, you can circle around the column and start shooting her from the other side. This way, the queen gets confused a lot, and dies very quickly without doing too much damage.
Now that you've killed her, collect the keys, use the blue one on the right and the black one on the left, or vice versa. In this room, you can heal and pick up weaponry since you've gathered several items. Save because the next enemy might kill you since it's the first time you're facing it.
FINAL BOSS: SUPER QUEEN LEECH (use the Magnum, Handgun, and Shotgun)
Now that you don't have such strong weapons, your death may be swift. Here, also use Rebecca and employ almost the same strategy as with the other BOSS, except now it can throw itself and damage you. After you've hit it several times, Rebecca will have a plan to defeat the BOSS. Now you'll have to protect Rebecca with everything you have so that when she opens the 4 gates, the BOSS will be defeated. Don't forget to heal when you're in DANGER, not just CAUTION.
Now that you've killed the BOSS, you can enjoy the video of its demise.
6 - Secrets
- CLOSET KEY: Complete the game on normal difficulty with any Rank.
- LEECH HUNTER: Complete the game on any difficulty with any Rank.
- RANK: Complete the game on normal difficulty.
- 100% SUBMACHINE GUN: Complete the game on normal difficulty in less than 5 hours and achieve Rank A.
- ROCKET LAUNCHER: Complete the game on normal difficulty in less than 3:30 hours and achieve Rank S.
I completed it in 2:27 hours; I love my Rocket Launcher because it decapitates Zombies and nothing can resist it. I also adore my Submachine Gun because it quickly kills QUEEN LEECH.
There are also rewards in LEECH HUNTER mode, which are:
- A: Infinite ammo for weapons, including the SMG. (100 LEECHES)
- B: Magnum Revolver (90-99 LEECHES)
- C: Infinite Hunting Gun (60-89 LEECHES)
- D: Infinite Handgun (30-59 LEECHES)
- E: SMG ammo in the main game (0-29 LEECHES)
