In this release of our Xbox-Linux Distribution, the IP-Configuration is set to fixed values. Your Xbox will boot using the IP address 192.168.0.64 and a 255.255.255.0 Netmask. To gain access to your Xbox some preconditions have to be met:

A. Your Computer and your Xbox have to be connected somehow:

1. You need a network card in your personal computer.

2a. Either you need either a network hub or network switch to connect the Xbox and your second computer.

2b. Or a crosslinked standard RJ-45 twisted pair network cable to connect them directly.

3. TCP/IP support has to be enabled on your personal computer and your network card has to be installed properly.

4. Our Xbox-Linux is up and running on your Xbox.

B. Your personal computers network configuration has to match your Xbox-Linux configuration:

Your personal computers ethernet (internal network interface, which is connected somehow to your Xbox - see also section A) network address has also to be set to 255.255.255.0 and its IP-address has to be 192.168.0.X . X can be set to every number between 1 and 254, except of 64.

You now can test if your box responds:

try:

ping 192.168.0.64

at your personal computers command prompt (Win 9x/Me/NT/2000/XP/Linux/Unix/whatever). If your Box responds everything is fine.

Try to login into your box using:

telnet 192.168.0.64

...or you can open it within your favorite browser using the URL

http://192.168.0.64

If our website shows up, everything is fine!

I hope everything is working fine. In our next release things would be much easier. You would be able to set your XBox-Configuration manually. Please wait till our next release if you expect problems with your network configuration.
