>REMEMBER - The end!
This will come as a surprise to you, but there is no new issue of ">REMEMBER" this month - and in fact, there will not be any other one!
This, my friends, is the end of the road for this newsletter. I know this will be disappointing to some, as there are a few hundreds of you who really enjoyed the newsletter, the updates on my projects and the community projects, and the monthly article!
When I started this newsletter, it was because I had a lot of things that I wanted to talk about, or investigate, in the world of retro text adventures; the monthly articles were really the occasion for me to dig deeper into some topics that interested me! Unfortunately, I found myself running out of topics on which I would like to spend hours researching/writing; and I believe it's always best to end things while they are still good, instead of waiting until it becomes a chore or until the quality/enthusiasm severly drops.
I also had started this newsletter to talk about my own retro text adventure projects, to keep in touch with people who enjoyed Tristam Island and want more of that, and maybe reach a broader audience. While there has been interest in my updates, and a few people happy to know about my new project, the reality is that progress has been slow, as I have been working on other types of works as well (articles, translation, freelance work, visual novels, etc). I am still very excited about my next game The Depths Of Time, but progress has been slower than anticipated, which I actually ended up feeling anxious about! In the end, I think I just had too much on my plate. So, The Depths of Time is still very much in the works, but I will stop worrying about its release date, which is now "when it's ready" 🙂
I want to thank you for your continued readership; I must confess I didn't think this newsletter would grow to that many readers! Thank you very much for all the emails and replies that I've received over the last 18 months, as they were genuine delights. Please keep in touch! You can always send me an email; I would also appreciate it if you followed my Twitter account and/or my itch.io profile so I can let you know when my next game is out!
Again, thank you very much for these last 18 months! I hope retro text adventures will keep having a place in your heart, and I have no doubt the community will keep creating interesting games and tools in the coming years.
Take care!
Hugo
