Jim, I just received a letter from our old friend Scott Corder.
I am aware that you've had some in depth correspondence with him,
as have I. The letter was handwritten, so I'll do my best to
decipher it accurately. (I'm sure you'll agree that his penmanship
is a graphologist's delight!)

Contact with Donna is sparse at this time. She has moved far away.
Her contacts continue and so do mine as they were before. The
predictions have continued to come to pass and have another
2 - 3 years to go. Only one has Donna appeared to make a partial
mistake in her understanding of what was said. I judge her not for
this. I just continue to study the Bible and make my own judgement
around these times according to the Bible. My quest for the truth
has succeeded there, with the truth in Jesus Christ. All the past
is just interesting to watch. Here is wisdom and truth all rolled
into ONE, according to the Holy Spirit.

Date: Jan 31st, 1993
Follow-up report on the reported UFO (unusual lights in the sky)
near Denver, Colorado. Original Report titled UFODEN.TXT.
At or about 16:30 hours sic [4:30 P.M.] the investigative team
met near the site of the reported UFO or unusual lights in the
sky. From this point South-West of Denver, at the Ken Caryl Ranch
area; we proceeded to the Bradford Elementary School. This was
the main spot from which Deputy M.S. reported seeing a strange
ball of light that was hovering at about 800 to 1000 feet above
the mountain peak about 1/2 mile away. He had pointed out the
specific spot to investigators during an earlier interview. He
also pointed out the other areas that he personally observed the
lights from.
>From this first point at the Bradford Elementary School, we were
able to take several daylight photographs of the area for
familiarization. Then we drove around the housing additions to
get a better perspective on the road structure throughout the
area. Then the team retired to a restaurant to discuss the
expected procedure for later that evening.
The sun set, and the light started to fade at about 18:00 hours
sic [6:00 P.M.]. The team members were deployed out to their
respective observation points to await the hour that was listed
as the time when the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office received
the first calls reporting the lights in the sky. This had
occurred at 19:40 hours sic [7:40 P.M.] on the date of the
incident. Each observation point was manned by 2 investigators.
Each team had at least 1 camera [35 MM] to take photographs.
The primary team was set up at the Bradford Elementary School
parking lot. At 19:40 hours sic [7:40] they photographed the, now
darkened mountainside, with the houses in the foreground. This
was shot with a 35 MM, SLR camera, with a 55 MM Pentax lens, and
Kodacolor ASA 400 film. These photographs that were aimed at the
center of the peak did not show the planet Venus in or near the
frame of the photographs. The planet Venus was quite prominent
in the sky at that time at night. However, it was also at a very
high angle that was West and at a higher azimuth than the
reported objects.
At the base of the saddle between the mountain that was the focal
point of the "strange lights sightings" and the next mountain
South, there is a low profile house. The occupants of this house
will be questioned at a later date, to see if they were aware of
any "strange lights" in their area on the night of January 25th,
1993.
At 20:40 hours sic [8:40 P.M.] photographs were taken from
Bradford Elementary School parking lot again with the same camera
and film. In this photograph, no lights were seen in the area of
the mountain peak. However, it is noted that the planet Venus had
now traversed low enough in its arc in the Western sky to be on
the extreme top and Western edge of the photograph. The
photographer might have set the camera up at an angle slightly
Western of the original shot to get the planet Venus in the
photograph. However, with the ambient light levels in the area,
it would be extremely hard for an experienced police officer and
the other witnesses to mistake the planet for a "ball of light
about 1/2 mile away, about 12 feet in diameter, and ten times
brighter that the street lights across from the parking lot".

Follow-up Report
Incident Date: Jan. 25th, 1993
Place: Metro Area South-West of Denver, Colorado.
Law Enforcement Report Synopsis:
The reports came in from the public at 19:42 hours sic [7:42
P.M.]. Initially one cruiser was dispatched to the scene of the
incident to meet with an un-named subject (930125.02). The car
was unable to find the subject right away.
Officers (930125.01) proceeded into the Ken Caryl Ranch (West
Ranch) area after seeing a number of un-explained lights hovering
over the mountains. Described as 5 yellow lights, and 1 large
bright white light.
The lights disappeared from the sky for about 10 minutes. Then
they reappeared.
Lights appeared and disappeared several times over a period of
twenty plus minutes. They disappeared the last time at about
20:30 hours sic [8:30P.M.].

The Jan/Feb 1993 issue of the Planetary Society's _The Planetary Report_
contains a brief note written by A.S. Selivanov and U.M. Gektin of the
Institute of Space Device Engineering, Moscow, on the mysterious end of Phobos
2. In the Question/Answer section on page 20, it says (all typos are my own,
copied without permission):

spacecraft, the moon Phobos and the planet Mars lined up to create the 'Phobos
Mystery Shadow.'"
Figure 2a caption reads, "Figure 2a is a thermal, or far-infrared, image of
the moon's shadow."
Figure 2b caption reads, "The Termoscan also produced a visible, or near
infrared, version of the same image, as seen here in Figure 2b."]
"Last year I noticed more than one mention in the media of a 'mystery object'
that appeared in the last images returned by the Russian spacecraft Phobos 2.
It was suggested that aliens were responsible for the object and perhaps even
for the demise of the mission. What actually happened?" -Len Seymour, Elko,
Nevada
The "mystery object" was actually the shadow of one of Mars' moons. The
spacecraft Phobos 2 reached Mars orbit and began to approach the martian
satellite Phobos in February 1989. In the middle of March, Phobos and the
spacecraft were several hundred meters apart, and they moved synchronously in
the same orbit. At that time there were several surveys of the martian surface
by the Termoscan equipment on board the spacecraft.
Termoscan is a two-channel scanning radiometer that can receive images in the
visible and near-infrared region of the spectrum and at the same time in the
thermal, or far-infrared, region. A Termoscan image is produced by a scanning
mirror moving perpendicular to the spacecraft trajectory with a frequency of
one scan line per second. Thus a picture is generated by the motion of the
spacecraft in its orbit.
The survey of the martian surface was made with a constant Sun-to-spacecraft
orientation. The centerline of the image is in the anti-Sun direction to an
accuracy of one to two scan lines. Since the spacecraft was near Phobos and the
Sun-Phobos directions was approximately the same as the Sun-spacecraft
direction, the Phobos shadow on the Mars surface can be seen in the Termoscan
field of view (Figure 1).
The length of this shadow was about 21 kilometers (13 miles). Termoscan's field
of view on the martian surface was 650 kilometers (400 miles) wide, and the
resolution was 1.8 kilometers (about 1 mile). The moonlet's shadow came into
Termoscan's field of view when the spacecraft was 200 kilometers (about 120
miles) away from Phobos. At this point the termoscan instrument was pointed at
Mars' surface in the same direction as the Sun's rays. On March 26, 1989, the
shadow appeared as shown in Figure 2.
The factors that influenced the form and dimensions of the shadow included
Phobos' orientation (Phobos has an irregular shape); distortion from Mars'
surface curvature, especially near the planet's limb (the edge of its disk as
seen from the Phobos spacecraft); and the dispersion of radiation and other
atmospheric processes.
Another factor -- and probably a more important one -- was deviation of the
axis caused by the spacecraft's instability. The spacecraft's axis moved about
40 minutes of arc during the experiments.
If the spacecraft's orientation and the distance from it to Phobos had been
perfectly constant, Phobos' shadow would have been an even line. But because of
the deviation of the spacecraft's axis, Termoscan's lines moved ahead of the
shadow or dropped behind it as the shadow moved on the planet's surface. The
scanning line overtook the shadow, going through its center, then passed it
(see Figure 2).
This process caused 250-to-300-kilometer (155-185-mile) motion on the Mars
surface in the direction of motion, and the shadow was elliptically stretched
in the resulting picture.
Figure 2 shows images from two different spectral regions. Figure 2a, taken in
the infrared part of the spectrum, shows Phobos' shadow. In Figure 2b, a
visible image, the shadow image drops behind. This image indicates that the
shadow lowered the local surface temperature 4 to 6 degrees Celsius.
The temperature variation depends on how fast Mars' thin surface layer
(several millimeters) cools. After analyzing the results from the two spectral
channels, we were able to calculate the thermal inertia (the measure of the
object's resistance to changes in temperature) of the surface layer and draw
conclusions about its physical characteristics.
The calculations showed that almost all of the observed surface is covered with
a layer of dust. The thermal inertia is two to three times lower than it would
be without the dust. Further analysis will tell us more about Mars' surface
properties.
The death of Phobos 2 resulted from a failure in the control system of its
onboard computer. this caused reorientation of the solar cells such that they
did not receive sunlight power. The storage battery was drained of its charge,
and all the spacecraft's subsystems lost power. Phobos 1 went out of control
earlier when its control lock with Earth was lost after an operator's error.

Dr. Robert Baker, who has taught psychology at Stanford University, MIT, and
the University of Kentucky (where he is professor emeritus of psychology) and
who is coauthor of the widely used textbook _Psychology_for_Man_, has written
a fascinating paper on alien abductions.
In "Alien Abductions or Alien Productions?: Some Not So Unusual Personal
Experiences," Dr. Baker discusses the position that alien abduction reports
(especially those recalled under hypnosis) are the result of the misunder-
standing of common sleep disorders by abduction researchers.
I'd be happy to send a copy of this 30 page report to anyone interested.

Well, tonight's UM episode was really quite interesting showing a video of a
UFO landing in an Ontario field. It did look authentic. The real bummer was
the other info sent along with the tape to UFO researchers - a bunch of
documents that looked like they were faked - plus a picture of an alien. The
anonymous sender called himself "The Guardian". What did everyone else think?
Does anyone have more info on this case?

Well, I just saw the 2/3/93 edition of Unsolved Mysteries
and all I can say is . . . YEECH!
Once again, a hoaxer (or hoaxer group) has targeted a "mark" who
could be counted on to pick up the ball and run with it, once the
anonymous package with "secret" "government documents" was
received in the mail. When will these people ever learn? How
many times must one read Jaques Vallee's _Revelations_ before the
message sinks in? So what if the video itself shows no obvious
signs of a hoax? The believers will undoubtedly disregard how it
was "disclosed" and proceed to waste immeasurable amounts of time
pouring over the neat-oh video.
We simply have a hoax built around the Labenek case. The video
was more impressive than the MJ 12-esque documents, but so what?
Did any of these investigators consider the possibility that the
video was created around the Labenek case rather than an actual
depiction of it? Let's not forget what great lenghts some people
will go to in their efforts to send UFO investigators on wild
goose chases. Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to
repeat it.

No doubt most of you have heard about the fireball seen over the southeast
Tuesday (2/2) night.

Michel Lowther was disappointed to learn that the strange object she
discovered on the back lawn of her Smyrna apartment complex Wednesday morning
wasn't from outer space. Probably not even from across town.
"It doesn't look like a normal rock to me, and it wasn't there last night,"
she told two Georgia State University astronomers who hurried out for a look at
the mystery object. "It looks like a lava rock in a gas grill, only with rust
on it and a little light ash."
After a cursory examination, the astronomers decided that it was definitely
not fallout from the eye-popping fireball that streaked across the sky over
five Southeastern states Tuesday night and left thousands of people wondering,
"Whatwazit?"
"This object was definitely a rock, a typical piece of Georgia quartzite with
some red clay on it," said John Wilson, a GSU astronomer who spent most of the
day fielding reports on the spectacular light show seen by thousands in North
Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky and Alabama.
Dr. Wilson could understand that there would be cases of mistaken identity.
He, too, saw the streak in the sky -- a "brilliant flash" that he first noticed
in his rearview mirror while driving east from Atlanta to the university's
observatory. "My first thought was that I was being stopped by the police."
The sky wasn't the only thing that lit up. So did emergency switchboards
throughout the South, which received reports of accompanying fires and
explosions that never panned out.
Even in the light of day, everyone seemed to have a theory about what had
flashed across the sky at 10:05 the night before, and everyone was determined
to talk about it.
"Our phone lines have been swamped since we opened them," said Greg Masters,
producer of the Gary McKee talk show on Atlanta radio station WSB. "We've had
people saying it was everything from UFOs to one guy who claimed it was Elvis
dropping a charcoal briquette from heaven."
Authorities were adamant about what it wasn't. It wasn't a bird. It wasn't
a plane. "If it was a plane, we would have known by now," said Kathleen
Bergen, a spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration in Atlanta.
Officials at Kennedy Space Center in Florida said it wasn't debris from the
launching of an Air Force navigation satellite about the same time Tuesday
night. And the North American Aerospace Defense Command insisted that it
wasn't one of the 7,000 pieces of space debris it constantly tracks on radar.
After sifting through dozens of witness reports, Dr. Wilson and GSU
astronomer Ingemar Furenlid said the fireball was "almost certainly" a meteor
that was incinerating as it plunged through the Earth's atmosphere.
Dr. Wilson saw the object break into at least three pieces. And he said the
loud noise reported by several witnesses could have been a sonic boom triggered
as it passed through the sound barrier or the sound of the explosion that
occurred when it broke up.
Based on the brightness of the object, Dr. Furenlid said the meteor was
probably bigger than a tennis ball but smaller than a football -- huge by the
standards of incoming meteors, but too small to hit the ground.
Although thousands of pebble-sized and smaller meteors enter the Earth's
atmosphere every day, objects large enough to produce such a prominent streak
are relatively rare.
It does happen, though. Only last October, a fiery streak of light reported
by thousands of people ended abruptly when a 27-pound meteorite crashed through
the right rear fender of Michelle Knapp's 1980 Chevrolet, which was parked in
the driveway outside her home in Peekskill, N.Y.

"What do you think of some of the various theories that connect
monster sightings?"
It is my opinion that combining the two falls into the old
classical logic trap: A dog is an animal, a cat is an animal,
therefore a dog must be a cat.
The other side is that neither element, UFOs and Bigfeet, has
much substance to help us use them in any evaluative effort.
The anitquated notion that Bigfoot is the survivor of some
ancient UFO crash is entertaining, but not very likely; not impossible,
just not likely.

Pete, I too find that _whatever_ the abduction phenomenon
actually is, it is not going to just fade away. I simply have not
been convinced that it is a physical event. Until we have some
real demonstrable data of the victim being "elsewhere" at the
time of abduction, I am inclined to believe that whatever is
transpiring is _not_ on a physical level. I know David and
many others have already been persuaded of the physicality of

Seems were having another flurry of reports from around the globe.
There was that extremely bright streaker in Italy last week
(probably a bolide), the Colorado sighting, Waukesha, and a sighting
over Georgia and Alabama last night. It is rather unusual to have
that many bright meteors within such a short time span. Perhaps
space debris re-entry? Of course, they could be...... you know what.

About 10. The primary witness was not wearing contacts or glasses. The other
witnesses have not been located yet. These were people that called into the
sheriff reporting the lights.

Seems that there's something going on around here. A farmer saw something on
Sunday night. Said it was a light above his field, saucer shaped with yellow
lights around the edge. (Classic fried egg saucer shape). Monday night Waukesha
had numerous sightings. Astronomer from the university says it's Venus. Local
paper had the first one, and Milwaukee news TV had the second. I'll look for
hard copy. No contacts or other events, just lights off in the distance. My
question is why was this guy watching the sky instead of the Super Bowl? Is he
some kind of commie or something? (just kidding)
I'll watch for facts or any details of the location direction. If it lines up
with the horizon shortly after sunset, it's planets which happen to be right
about there right now. If it's another direction, then it's not going to be
explained as Venus. Too cold for swamp gas right now.
