sketch. The Atterberg map fits the sketch much more closely than
does the Fish map, identifying twenty-five of Hill's twenty-six

to just the stars favorable for life. He started out by plotting
all the stars in the sun's vicinity, which makes it all the more

Sorry, I didn't notice it was cutting out part of the message (it
looked fine before I posted it) until I saw it already posted on the UFO

No, I saw it too.

It had nothing to do with the show as far as I can tell... I suppose
it was just one of those things that a bunch of whacked out college
types do. Hey, its better than swallowing gold fish.

Well, da, Da, da, daaaaa...

Subject: NAICCR List and Information Request
Date: 25 Sep 92 16:05:23 GMT

From: Chris Rutkowski <rutkows@ccu.UManitoba.CA>

As many readers of this group will know, NAICCR has been posting
information about North American crop circles in an effort to provide
data about this curious phenomenon for individuals wishing details for
their their research. NAICCR also publishes an annual report on North
American UGMs, and tries to be as thorough as possible so that the crop
circle or UGM data will be useful for later analyses.

In order to produce an accurate compilation, NAICCR solicits data on
North American UGMs from any and all interested researchers. The data
can be sent via e-mail, published in the Paranet Newsletter,
snailmailed or sent via third-party sources.

However, many UGMs are not reported to NAICCR. Some are reported to
MUFON HQ, others to Michael Chorost, others to local MUFON reps, and
others to private researchers who may or may not have ties to British
circle groups. A complete compilation of UGM and crop circle
information is not possible without co-operation from all researchers
involved in the field. WE NEED THE INFORMATION SO THAT WE CAN GATHER
IT TOGETHER AND SEND RESEARCHERS A REPORT ON ALL THE CASES!

THIS MEANS YOU!

=====================================================================

The following is the most recent NAICCR list of reported UGMs. You
will note that co-operative researchers have provided NAICCR with good
information about most cases. However, there are several cases which
are hardly more than rumours at this point. Can anyone please post or
e-mail additional or supportive information about these or any other
cases?

e-mail to: rutkows@ccu.umanitoba.ca

snailmail to: Box 1918, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada R3C 3R2

Thx!

1992 North American Crop Circles and/or UGMs
Reported to NAICCR as of 24 September 1992

920426 Jonesboro, Georgia
- a 'formation' of crop circles, 'exactly' like those found in
1991 in the same location, was discovered.
Source: Rosemary Ellen Guiley; Vance Tiede

9204?? , New Hampshire
- UGMs were found following a small local flap of UFO reports.
Source: Rosemary Ellen Guiley; Vance Tiede

920506 near Edmonton, Alberta
- a 'space cookie' UGM was discovered in a meadow. It is a
perfect circle, 6 metres in diameter. Its depth varies from 5 cm
to 31 cm. Grass is growing straight up both inside and outside
the circle. No tracks were found leading to the area. The UGM
is not a sinkhole.
Source: Gordon Kijek

920525 Limerick, Pennsylvania
- at least 12 'matted down' areas were found in a wheatfield north of
Philadelphia. Three were circles about five feet in diameter, arranged
in a triangle. One feature was 'T-shaped'. Soil samples taken by a UFO
investigator 'showed no irregularities'. Geiger counter readings were
also normal. Although a hoax was suspected by the UFO investigator,
the owner of the field believes that the UGMs were caused by lodging,
wind and fertilizer damage, and that 'It happens every year'.
Source: Steve Bernheisel on FIDONET; UFO Newsclipping Service #275

920627 Raeford, North Carolina
- a circle of flattened grass was found in a hay field following
a CE2 UFO sighting. A loud noise, 'like a freight train', was
heard, and two witnesses ran to look out their front door. A
object 'the size of a swimming pool', 'like orange windows lla
around it', was in a field about 300 feet away from their house.
When they went to call other witnesses, the object disappeared.
Source: Patrick Kirol on FIDONET

9206?? , Massachusetts
- a small area of flattened cattails was found in a marsh close
to a major highway and reported as a crop circle.
Source: Tom Randolph on DEC COM via INTERNET

920701 St. Adolphe, Manitoba
- nine 'horseshoe-shaped' patches of flattened grass were found
on either side of a brook in a Winnipeg suburb. Because of rece
storms and heavy rainfall, lodging was thought to be the cause
Source: Guy Westcott; NAICCR

920705 Hobbema, Alberta
- two ovals of flattened barley were found in a field after
unusual lights were observed descending to the ground. The
largest UGM has a major axis of 47 feet. The crop is pushed away
uniformly from the centers of the patches, but the centers are
'clumped', like breaking waves. Barley inside the circles is
'white', and devoid of colour. It was later suggested that the areas
were due to spilled seeds and fertilizer, combined with lodging.
Source: Gord Kijek

920715 St. Adolphe, Manitoba
- a field beside a highway was discovered to have numerous patches of
flattened crop, in irregular patterns. The formations were discovered
by the same person who found case 920701. Investigation by NAICCR and
interviews with the owner of the field established that the crop had
been laid down by strong winds and heavy rain. The person who
discovered the formations was convinced that aliens created the
flattened patches.
Source: NAICCR

920721 Friedensruh, Manitoba
- a farmer found a triangular area of flattened/swirled grass which
was surrounded by an electric fence. The dimensions were 31x27x17
feet. Local residents could not explain the phenomenon. However,
NAICCR investigators found evidence that animals had trampled the site.
Source: NAICCR

920799 Pilot Peak, California
- according to the Phoenix Project, a number of 'landing zones' were
discovered near the site of an alleged underground alien base. Visits
to the site by independent invesyigators have found only patches of
grass trampled by deer and other animals. Two 'landing zones' were
claimed.
Source: John Pickens on INTERNET via Paranet

920799 Miniota, Manitoba
- it was reported that a crop circle was discovered in a field of
oats. The circle is perfectly round and 32 feet in diameter. The oats
are flattened and swirled in a clockwise fashion. The center of the
circle is devoid of vegetation.
Source: NAICCR

920801 Strathclair, Manitoba
- a circle of flattened wheat was discovered in a field southwest of
Strathclair. It was 28 feet in diameter. The wheat was flattened and
swirled in a counterclockwise fashion.
Source: NAICCR

920808 Strathclair, Manitoba
- a flattened area of wheat in the shape of the symbol for Mars (a
circle with an attached arrow pointing away from it) was discovered in
a field southwest of Strathclair. The main circle was 28 feet in
diameter, with no detectable eccentricity. The wheat was flattened
counterclockwise. In the arrow, the wheat was flattened away from the
circle. The arrow pointed on a bearing of 260 degrees.
Source: NAICCR

920815 Ipswich, Manitoba
- a flattened area of wheat in the shape of the symbol for Mars was
discovered just east of Ipswich. The main circle was elliptical, with
axes 26 and 24.5 feet. The wheat was flattened counterclockwise. The
arrow pointed on a bearing of 65 degrees.
A large, dark object with yellow lights was seen hovering over the site
the night before the formation was discovered.
Source: NAICCR

920815 Strathclair, Manitoba
- a flattened area of wheat was found near other crop circle UGMs. It
was roughly 20 feet in diameter. Wheat was laid down in random clumps.
Examination suggested the area was caused by lodging.
Source: NAICCR

920815 Strathclair, Manitoba
- a flattened area of wheat in the shape of the symbol for Mars was
discovered west of Strathclair. The main circle was 24 feet in
diameter. The wheat was flattened in a counterclockwise fashion. The
arrow pointed on a bearing of 120 degrees.
Source: NAICCR

920817 Brandon, Manitoba
- a television station received an anonymous call that a crop circle
had been found on the property of the Brandon airport.
Source: CKX-TV

920825 Guy, Alberta
- fifteen circular marks were found in a field near Peace River,
Alberta. Reported originally to Chad Deetken. Investigated by Gord
Kijek of AUFOSG.
Source: Gord Kijek, AUFOSG

9208?? Champagne, Illinois
- crop formations were alleged.
Source: Rosemary Ellen Guiley, NACCCS

920??? , Iowa
- a number of 'ice circles' were reported discovered. Investigated by
Davina Riska. Reported to Rosemary Ellen Guiley.
Source: Rosemary Ellen Guiley, NACCCS

920??? Troy, Illinois
- circles were reported found in cattails. Discovered by Peter
(Darren?) Bistrom (?). Reported to MUFON (?). Investigated at least
two months after their discovery by George Wingfield. Also
investigated by NACCCS.
Source: Rosemary Ellen Guiley, NACCCS

9209?? Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
- a circle with a ring was discovered in a field near Saskatoon.
Reported to Chad Deetken. Investigated by Chad Deetken.

DC>
DC> Excuse my ignorance, but what's this "super radiance"

This concept first arose several years ago when his Royal Highness,
The Maharishi (grin) decided he wanted to raise the "vibrational
rate"
of the planet...actually, I could trace it even further back
to a book written by Marilyn Ferguson called "The Aquarian Conspiracy",
which talked about a "corp" of "Rainbow warriors" engaging in PSI/Mind
feats. Transcendental Meditation (TM) used to be very popular during
the 70's along with it's similar counterparts of EST and Scientology.

Quite a few people were influential in those areas and then later moved
on into higher Govt service. I remember when I was living in Los Angeles
during 1975, that a well known Scientologist, Ingo Swann was very
active along the then-developing tech of remote viewing. It was alledged
that he was involved with training individuals in Govt agencies. As
for the "radiance concept"..I believe that is pure TM at it's "best".

I look at this as sort of an amalgamation of the 70's style of TM
and the "let's develop 7000 clears/OT's" of the Scientologists. In
retrospect, it smacks of Tavistockian influence of SRI and other funky
New Age-ish wierdness of this period.

As for me, I'm all for a straight line investigation of abductees
ala John Mack and David Jacobs and LESS talk about achieving
"super radiance".

I have mixed feelings when I read this report....on one hand it suggests
a greater involvement of scientists becoming more interested in
UFOlogy, but then we have this darned "super radiance" intertwined
here, which in my mind, adds zero credibility. The *funny* thing is
that this report being posted to the Physics newsgroup is completely
a non-sequitor as far as I can tell..I like did a "huh?!" when I saw
it. :-)

Michael,

Well I certainly had no trouble finding the book ALTERNATIVE 3, I
thought it was pretty amusing. I guess even the author, Leslie
Watkins has said that the book is only "75% true", the rest is pure
fiction. This must surely be the hoax that would not die.

sheaffer@netcom.com (Robert Sheaffer) writes:
2. Lt. Gen. Twining is lying to his commanding officer,
perhaps because Gen. Schulgen doesn't have a high enough
security clearance. ...Military officers typically
disapprove strongly when they learn that those who report to
them have been lying to them. Such moves tend to be career
limiting, and are generally not considered wise.

.. but it does happen. (Groves obfuscated his face off to superiors
during the Manhattan Project, for instance.) You will note that
Twining's letter was in response to a request for information from
Schulgen (AMC was involved in a number of advanced projects at the
time, for instance the "flying wing"). I thought the comment that
"these objects are... the project of some high security project not
known to AC/AS-2 or this command"
was particularly telling (which can
be taken "your people don't know, and you shouldn't ask me" -- which
could be because Twining didn't know anything (though he gives
impressive detail to suggest his people are up the phenomenon, for
1947), or because Twining wouldn't commit anything so sensitive to
regular communications.)

More likely, The Conspirators forged this letter, to throw
us off the track.

.. I don't agree; though I would agree it is ambiguous.

The Society for the Advancement of Civilization Presents:

Extraterrestrial Contact The Meaning and The Message

Saturday, October 10, 1992 10:00am to 9:30pm
Physical Sciences Lecture Hall, UC Berkeley
At Gayley Road across from the Greek Theater

A public forum on the legitimate scientific inquiry into one of the most
controversial issues facing our planet today. Why does extraterrestrial con-
tact have value for the people of Earth? There are increasing numbers of
aware, articulate people from a variety of professional and cultural back-
grounds who have been contacted by extraterrestrials. Come, hear and meet an
impressive group of research experts and persons who have had close
encounters.

R. Leo Sprinkle, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of Psychology, University of Wyom-
ing, Laramie, where he was director of counseling services, and founder of the
Institute for UFO Contactee Studies, is an early investigator of hundreds of
Close Encounter cases beginning in 1955. He served with APRO as a consultant
for psychology and is the principle investigator of the John Salter case. He
is the organizer of the Annual Rocky Mountain UFO Conference.

James A. Harder, Ph. D., Professor Emeritus of Engineering, U.C. Berkeley,
pioneered the use of hypnosis in close-encounter cases since 1962, and the
study of E.T./human interactions and their influences on this planet. He will
describe emerging information about the characteristics of advanced civiliza-
tions and how this information could help inspire us to a more hopeful view of
Earth.

John Salter, Ph. D., Professor of Indian Studies Univ. of North Dakota, will
lead several people with close encounter experiences in a round table discus-
sion. Dr. Salter will also tell of his own continuing encounters. He was
featured in the May 1991, CBS prime time special "Visitors from the Unknown"
He teaches a very popular university course which accepts the reality of
extraterrestrial contact.

Richard F. Haines, Ph.D., Psychologist and research scientist. His interest in
discovering the core nature of UFO phenomenon spans 20 years with special
interest in sightings by pilots, photo analysis, and CE4. He recently founded
and co-directs the Joint American- Soviet Aerial Anomaly Federation.

Richard J. Boylan, Ph.D., A psychologist in private practice. He has assisted
in the understanding and the integration of ET experiences into everyday life.
He will speak about the "mind field" of new information developing for those
with extraterrestrial close encounters and for the Society of Planet Earth.

Cathy W., A California person with some very interesting close encounters, and
whose events were thoroughly recorded by a well- known
researcher/investigator. Her experiences were shown in a documentary on a
prime-time NBC program.

A special two hour question and answer period in the evening will be hosted by
the participants in the above program.

A special multi-media presentation of ET close encounter experiences will also
be presented.

Doors open at 9:15 am. Events begin at 10:00 am and end at 9:30 pm. Cost is
$30.00. Free educational video with reservations received by October 6th,
1992.

Seating is limited, so please reserve your seats in advance. Priority is given
to those who have paid advance reservations & who have arrived by 9:45am.
Tickets will be sold at the door. Please no video/tape recording. Videos and
tapes will be made available to attendees at the forum.
