Apparently, 4 people were originally missing. But two of them have
been contacted by phone. I think I saw this report on "Inside

Also, one of the most interesting facts about this case was the time
lag of one of the observer's shadow on the UFO from the background
lights. He noticed that his shadow had about a half second delay
lagging behind his movements (suggesting some sort of time
displacement?????)

Subject: Dave and Doug - The Latest
Date: 27 Sep 91 05:32:12 GMT

From: Robert Trevelyan <rob@aixssc.ibm.co.uk>

The final circle of the season (so far as we know) appeared on Sept 12
in a crop of linseed near the church at Old Alresford, Hampshire. It was a
plain circle of 38 ft diameter, swirled clockwise.
The circle, which I'm assured is genuine, in one of the very last uncut
fields in Southern England.

Meanwhile more murky facts are emerging slowly from the 'Dave and Doug
Hoax' saga.
The story was supplied to Today by 'MBF Services' although Today stated
that it had paid no money. When asked how MBF could be contacted Today either
dodged the question or gave conflicting replies : (1) 'There is no telephone
number for MBF' (a funny sort of news agency !) (2) They didn't know the
address of MBF (3) the story had been marked 'Copyright MBF Services' to
prevent others publishing copyright material (4) we could reprint whatever we
liked without charge (5) MBF had an address in Shepton Mallet (6) a contact
number for MBF was 0962 - 713843 on the Twyford (Winchester) exchange.
(I think this last one slipped out by mistake.)

The Shepton Mallet address is an accommodation address with a firm of
chartered accountants who have MBF as a client. Describing it as a 'Scientific
Research and Development Company', they would tell us no more details about
their client. The Twyford number had been discontinued by last week, and
enquiries to British Telecom revealed equal confusion. It was descibed first
as a private residential number, and then as a 'special exchange number'.

Solicitors searches have now revealed that the director of MBF is a certain
Andrew Winsloe Clifford of Maiden Beech Farm, West Crewkerne, Somerset. This,
of course, solves what MBF stands for, but we still need to find out about Mr
Clifford. He and his wife are sole shareholders and the company was first
registered in April 1991. No accounts have been returned so far.

On Friday Doug and Dave were confronted on Granada's 'Upfront' TV program.
They were asked on the program the following questions:
(1) Who are the MBF news agency and who are the directors ?
(2) Why does MBF have no telephone number ?
(3) Have you at any time, or now, worked for the Government Intelligence
or Security services?
All three questions were denied, evaded or laughed off. The TV show finished
in uproar.

The plot thickens.

Yes! I remember that movie. Consider the elements:

1.) They made an underground base
2.) The workers were drones
3.) The central figure had a large head and very spindly
arms and legs.
4.) They recruited earthlings with implants in the brain.
5.) The implants had an explosive charge in them.
6.) The movie was the dream of a boy. He woke up at the
end of the movie, and then the saucer landed just like
in his dream.

The following is from my local newspaper....

Jim Graham
---------------------------------------------------------------

>From the Herald Times, Wednesday, September 25, 1991

"Monroe UFO Sighting Investigated"
H-T Report (no author given)

A possible unidentified flying object viewed Monday night caught the
attention of both the Monroe County Sheriff's Department and a local UFO
investigator.

Around 9:10 p.m. in the 8000 block of Victor Pike a family reported seeing
a bright blue light in the northeast part of the sky, said Will Ott a field
investigator for the Mutual UFO Network, an international organization which
investigates possible UFO sightings.

The light changed to red, then to white, Ott said.

Around this time deputy Randy Williamson arrived from the Monroe County
Sheriff's Department. Williamson reported seeing several smaller lights
detach themselves from the main light and fly to the west, Ott said. The
smaller lights eventually vanished.

Ott said he arrived about 10 p.m. and observed the main light for about an
hour. He said he also saw a "pale yellow light moving back and forth along a
tree line."

In addition a similar sighting was reported in Oakland City, about 90
miles southwest of Bloomington, Monday night, Ott said.

Among UFO investigators, such phenomena are called "nocturnal lights,"
said Ott, who is looking into the incident.

----------------------- End of article ------------------------

I have just two comments about this.

I find it interesting that:

a.) A well known deputy appears to have been the one making the report
(although this isn't unusual).

b.) A MUFON field investigator claims to have seen the object. I'm not
familiar enough with MUFON to know if their investigators have
made similar claims.

Anyway, I thought I'd pass this along to show that Bloomington, Indiana
isn't totally dead in terms of the unusual :-).

Shuttle audio is retransmitted (with delay) from Goddard on a ham radio band,
so of course anyone who had a transmitter tuned to that frequency could jump
in. And of course lots of hams can transmit on that freq.

Jim,

There was a story on this tonite on Inside Edition.

According to the report produced by Phillip Reeder:

They were members of a UFO cult headed by Donna Butz and Scott Corder.

They believe that Bob Dole(a Russel native) will be our last president
and that the white house will be moved to Russel after armegedden.

Shortly after the death of Eric Fowlers aunt and group member and group
member Trudi Fermi.

Early in September people started dissapearing without a trace, first
school teacher Marsha Brach (Brock?) and her two daughters (Stephanie
and Sonje) then Donna Butz the groups leader. Scott Corder also disappeared.

They talked with the roommate of Stephanie and Sonja Brock. Her roommate
said that the only things missing from the apartment were her toothbrush,
contact case, and her bible.

The report ended with the anchor saying that Scott Corder had called
them, and that he was OK he would not tell them where he was, but said
he did not know where the four women were. They forwarded that
information to the Police saying "Best to let them handle it".

Subject: Implants

Sheldon, thanks for your comments on my implants posting. Yes, the
1953 (I think) Invaders From Mars certainly shows a classic abduction.
A woman is taken aboard a flying saucer, laid on a table, and a
tubular device comes down from above, and is going to implant a
control device in the woman's neck, when she is rescued.

Speaking of published documents. Dave Webb sent me an advance copy of
a paper titled: "Physical Analysis of Purported Alien Artifacts" by
David E Pritchard, Department of Physics/Research Laboratory of
Electronics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The paper is
scheduled to be published in the proceedings of the TREAT 11
conference.

Pritchard's paper's abstract reads:-
"Although the hypothesis that extraterrestrial intelligence exists is
under active investigation in the scientific community, the hypothesis
that it may have a physical presence here on earth is not. Physical
evidence provides the best way to bring the latter hypothesis into
active scientific consideration. I discuss ways in which
extraterrestrial origin of a physical artifact may be inferred from
its performance, material composition, or sturcture. Performance can
provide the strongest evidence for a single artifcat, but the repeated
observation of similar artifacts in similar circumstances can also be
persuasive."

Pritchard is also the individual who looked at the Price penal implant
case.

Any chance of a quick update on the status of the claims by the two

for a few days and then the story just simply died. Of particular
interest is their claim to have copied the idea from Australians who
hoaxed "saucer nests" here some years ago. Thanks if you are able.

G'day, Keith

The paper you mentioned by David Pritchard does indeed sound
interesting and worthwhile reading. I'll have to see if I can
obtain a copy. I was not aware that Pritchard was an examiner in
the Richard Price case. In the reports I have read thus far on this
incident, no individuals or institutions were named. BTW, what was
David's opinion on the penile implant? Coincidentally, I am in
contact with someone here in Chicago who was one of Price's school
mates back in Troy, New York, where the implantation was supposed
to have transpired.

In another message to all, you asked about David Jacobs new book.
It is entitled _Secret Life: The Structure and Meaning of UFO
Abductions_, and is scheduled to be released in March of '92 by
Simon and Schuster. It will detail Jacobs' analyses of the more
than 300 hypnotic regression sessions he has conducted with
abductees over the past several years. Jacobs also is the recipient
of a $200,000 grant to conduct a poll to discern the magnitude of
the abduction phenomenon and to compile a compendium of abduction
accounts.

David should be back on the ParaNet abduction echo shortly,
according to Mike Corbin, or you can write him direct at:

607 East Gravers Lane

Take care,
