Subject: Welcome UFORA
Date: 12 Aug 91 02:04:00 GMT
This is to announce that we have established a link with UFORA (UFO Research
Australia).
I am posting the biography of its principles, Vlad Godic and Keith
Basterfield. In addition, Bill Chalker joins us via this link as well.
Welcome to ParaNet!
UFO RESEARCH AUSTRALIA (UFORA)
PO Box 229, Prospect,
South Australia 5082
Organization:
UFORA operates as a network of interested persons and groups, in all Australian
States, sharing the information they acquire. Vladimir Godic co-ordinates
general network administration and Keith Basterfield overall research.
The aims of the network are:
(A) To stimulate Australian research into the UFO phenomenon, on a without
prejudice basis, in order to better understand the causes(s) of the phenomenon,
and
(B) To aid research by promoting co-operation between intereste dparties.
The philosophy of the network can be best summarised by the term "Middle of the
Road". It is neither a collection of "avid believers" nor "confirmed sceptics".
Since its inception it has consistently argued that the UFO phenomenon is of
interest to science, that it is amenable to study following scientific method,
and that valuable information may be gained irrespective of the ultimate cause
of the phenomenon.
Results of research are published via a bi-monthly Research Digest, a
periodical Newsletter, documents, catalogues and articles in a number of
leading overseas UFO journals.
---------------------------------------------------------
Vladimir Godic - UFORA Administrator
Vlad has had a life interest in UFOlogy which became serious in the early 50s.
His interest covers every aspect of UFOlogy. He was the founder of UFO Research
(South Australia) Inc. in December 1968, the first scientifically oriented
research group in Australia, and has been a Liaison Officer for the group from
that time through 1980. In January 1980 he started up as the Editor and
Publisher of UFO Research Australia Newsletter. Before founding UFO Research
(SA) Inc., Vlad was a Senior Vice-President (for 4 years to 1968) of
Unidentified Flying Objects Phenomena Investigation Association (UFOPIA), and
(for the latter 3 of those years) an investigation officer for UFOPIA in
Adelaide , South Australia.
In August 1982 Vlad took over the Administration job with the Australian Center
For Ufo studies which he held until August 1985 when he founded UFO Research
Australia.
-----------------------------------------------------
Keith Basterfield - UFOR Research Officer
Keith has held position within UFO Research (South Australia) Inc. of Co-
ordinator (1977-1979) and Liaison Officer (1980-1981) He was a field
investigator for APRO (1977-1980), and the Australian and New Zealand
Continental Co-ordinator for MUFON as well as being Co-ordinator for the
Australian Center for UFO Studies. He was also co-founder of UFO Research
Australia.
Keith's major achievements in UFOlogy include a compilation of several
documents and introduction of the idea of "imagery" for explaining certain
close encounters.

I saw a large blue and green fireball once. I don't remember the year,
except that it had to be sometime after I was married in June '84, but
the date would have been August 11 or 12 because we were going with some
friends to Glen Rose State Park (or is it a national park?), which is
south of Dallas, TX.
It must have been after 9PM, because it was dark, but before midnight
because we were still on the road. The two wives were in the back seat
talking whilst we hubbies were in the front wondering if we were going
to be able to see anything, since there were light clouds overhead.
Then the whole sky lit up with a blue and green flickering light. I
looked up and saw the fireball through the clouds, going straight overhead
in the direction we were travelling, which must have been toward the south.
The fireball and its trail looked fuzzy through the clouds, and because
of this the head appeared to be perhaps two to four times the size of a
full Moon in the sky, with the tail half as wide but spanning at least
45 and possibly 90 degrees. Our wives saw the light cast from the
fireball, but by the time the looked up it was over the roof, so they
didn't see the thing itself since they were in the back seat.
I seem to recall there having been two such fireballs in rapid succession,
but I'm really not sure about that. Maybe it was just the excitement of
the moment. The rest of the shower was just a typical Perseid shower,
not really spectacular, but an enjoyable thing to do for one night in
August.
Now for the question and answer period.
* Normally, Perseid meteors just give off your typical "meteor orange"
glow. So why is it that if they do happen to make a huge fireball,
they go blue and green?
* Why are they blue and green but not blue-green?
* True, this is a small sample, but of two witnesses to two separate
blue and green fireball incidences, both said it passed directly
overhead. Coincidence, or CONSPIRACY? ;=]
* Do blue and green fireballs always travel north to south?
* Did Mr. Bailey see his fireball prior to midnight? If so, is it
significant that both these fireballs happened before midnight?
* How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
* Has anyone else out there seen a blue and green fireball?

A pat answer which misses the point. This was my question:
:* Normally, Perseid meteors just give off your typical "meteor orange"
: glow. So why is it that if they do happen to make a huge fireball,
: they go blue and green?
So, is it true that they only take on the blue and green cast when they
make huge fireballs, or have you seen a small one with this color?
As for copper, this seems the obvious answer, but it's only a trace
element in meteorites, so the Perseids would be unusual indeed if they
contained enough of it to produce that much green and blue light.
Generally, Mg, Ti, and Cr are all much more abundant than Cu, and all
can produce spectral peaks in the cyan to green region.

I've never understood the supposed connection between UFO's and
superconduction. From the article posted from Popular Science I see
no particular reason to change that view. Virtually all physical force
field effects, such as magnetism, electricity, gravity, etc, are
proportional with the effect diminishing as the Square of the distance.
A device that produces 20 pounds of "lift" at 0.005 meters will
produce very little at an practical UFO height!! And even if the
magnet WAS strong enough to "reach" out for any meaningfull distance
the field strength near the UFO would be tremendous. Not to mention
that it is not sufficent to have a high field on the one side, say the
UFO, without haveing something for it to react against, such as the
earth. The earth is not all that strong of a magnet nor is the surface
exactly one big chunk of iron just waiting for something to repel
against it.

Subject: Bentwaters Update
Date: 12 Aug 91 05:52:00 GMT
Mark your calendars for Sept. 18th: On that Wednesday evening at 8PM
EDT, NBC will broadcast the season premier of "Unsolved Mysteries",
which will include a splashy recreation of the Bentwaters Incident. As
you may know, just after Christmas of 1980, several security police and
officers attached to Bentwaters AFB in England saw a series of baffling
UFOs that came very close to the ground, possibly leaving traces of
radiation. A portion of one sighting was recorded by Lt. Col. Charles I.
Halt, the deputy base commander, who wrote up the entire incident in an
official memorandum. Halt will be among others featured on the
broadcast, and will be speaking openly for the first time.
Another witness, John Burroughs, will also be featured. Burroughs lay
low for many years after the sighting, but came forward to me back in
1989. He has since spoken to several researchers, and together we are
spearheading an effort to re-focus public attention to the case, which I
feel ranks up with Roswell as one of our best contenders. There are some
very compelling suggestions of high-level cover-up; there is at the very
least a palpable shyness on the part of both governments (US and UK) to
be forthright about information pertaining to the case.
Burroughs has agreed to be interviewed for an exclusive ParaNet
release, and is seeking the help of any reputable UFO group to bring
this case to the attention of the public and ideally, the Congress.
Incidentally, the special effects for the UM broadcast were done by
Industrial Light & Magic. The recreation promises to be pretty
spectacular.

Yes, I read you loud and clear. ;-)
I just got a tidbit. A while back, one redlight sighting was pretty
much determined to be a red parachute flare. A supposedly-uninvolved
person told an investigator, who shall be publicly nameless, that he
saw Ed Walters' truck parked in the area below where the red light was
seen. Completely unverified, but interesting.
The same investigator said that one redlight sighting was definitely
determined to have been a parachute flare when it dropped bits of
burning phosphorous on cars!
Anyway, the investigator's opinion is that most of the redlight
sightings are for real, while many others are caused by people
fooling around with flares. Since it's a seaside area, parachute
flares are very easy to come by.

Is it SCSI? If so, your BIOS setup routines may be the problem. With an

Otherwise the BIOS will try to do things that the SCSI host/controller is

James, pardon a reply to a very old post, but I find this
"migrane" study to be very interesting indeed.
Perhaps the researcher's concern is the type of 'psychosis' that
occasionally accompanies migranes. It strikes me as very odd,
however, that the questionnaire would specify "belief in
extraterrestrials" as a hallmark of this psychosis. Ordinarily,
this topic would come near the end of a rather long list of
true/false questions listing other delusions: e.g., "do you
hear voices", "do you harbor more than one personality", "do you
feel disconnected from your surroundings", "do you experience
strange sensations", etc. My point is that acceptance of ET
life would not be the first symptom of psychosis in a migrane
sufferer. Does anyone know: were any other symptoms listed???
My girlfriend has suffered from migranes for years, too, and you
have my sympathy. It's an awful problem. In her case, she gets
an odd, "copper-like" taste in her mouth hours (even up to a day)
before the onset of a headache.
But ... wouldn't it be interesting if brain dysfunction (like
migrane, or epilepsy, or aphasia, or simple brain damage) could
cause a psychic (or *scalar*) receptor effect? In other words,
what if certain electrochemical brain problems can randomly allow
people to see/hear/taste/smell things that we can't
see/hear/taste/smell?
Tom Bearden has claimed for years that the brain is a scalar
transmitter, and present-day studies of electrochemical brain
activity show a "cascading" effect throughout the brain.
Precisely the sort of swirling electrical field that can generate
scalar waves. Moreover, these "cascading" discharges are all
different -- they are characteristic of the thought/memory/action
being performed by the brain at the time. So, when someone says
they smell roses before going into a trance -- that says to me
that the pattern discharge of "rose smell" in their brain can
trigger something else, or is characteristic of something else.
Anyway, I wonder if this study is about migranes or about
electrochemical "triggers" in the brain.

Clark
