+Ongoing inflation is a result, not of the fractional reserve
+system, per se, since it was a one time impulse which converged,
+as my Basic program shows, to a certain money supply, given an
+initial money supply, but rather the result of government
+manipulations which increase the reserves -- i.e. the so called
+(and correctly called) 'printing presses.'

The federal government does not print any money. They have to buy
their money at face value from the federal reserve. If they do not have
enough tax revenues to buy the reserve notes they need to run the government,
then they have to issue debt notes to the public in order to get the cash.

+The primary beneficiary of inflation is the government itself,
+rather than the bankers. I'm not saying that bankers don't have
+favored status in the eyes of the government, but there is no way
+they are making a 20:1 profit on deposits (because there is no
+mechanism, as I have shown, to allow them to do so.)

This is the hilarious misconception that people have. If the federal
government could just print money, do you think we would have the level of
national dept that we do? Congress could just order the printers to pull a
few all-nighters, and in short order all the debts would be payed off. ;^)
For that matter, why would they have ever gotten into debt in the first place,
right?

+The benefit the government gets from inflation is that it is
+simply printing up money. The fact that it smuggles it out
+through the fractional reserve banking system is almost
+irrelevant.

The Federal government cannot add a single new dollar bill into circulation.
Only the Federal Reserve Board, a private corporation that answers directly to
no government agency, has the authority to print new money. And they do it at
their own discretion. The government issues new bonds to buy any new money
that is printed, but the combined pleading of the President and all of
Congress will not get new money printed, if the Reserve is not in the mood to
generate new money. (When I say 'new money' I am talking about excess money,
above and beyond what already existed in the money supply, not the money that
is printed to replace worn out bills).

It would be difficult to find a sweeter scam than the one that the owners of
the Federal Reserve are benefiting from today. They are putting the wealth of
America in their back pockets, and they come out looking like our great
benefactors, because they are 'regulating' our money supply for us and keeping
our economy nice and stable. Gee, thanks, guys.

You are right, though, this doesn't have anything to do with aliens. ;^)

+I think your postscript may make the key point in my argument: Have
+you read any of Vallee's books? You might be particularly
+interested in 'Passport to Magonia' and "Dimensions".

Dear Clark,

Even though I'm not quite sure about your argument, I'm very glad to hear
that you find my ideas interesting. Yes, I have indeed read Vallee's books
(am in the middle of CONFRONTATIONS at the moment) and have a great deal of
respect for his ideas, although I still find the ETH the most efficient
explanation, at least from the standpoint of Occam's Razor--that is, the
Principle of Parsimony. The probability that other worlds similar to our own
orbit relatively nearby stars is very high indeed, while the presence of
alternate universes, though certainly within the purview of contemporary
physics (at least as I understand it), is much more problematic. I suggest
that, unless someone comes up with proof positive that the creatures in
question come from another dimension, or whatever, we had best operate on the
assumption that our 'visitors' come from the same universe we inhabit, even
though they've obviously long since figured out how to violate (or bypass)
'Einstein's speed limit' (i.e., the speed of light) and do other "tricks" that
sometimes make them APPEAR to be insubstantial.

However, I emphatically agree with Vallee's linkage of the ancient images
of the 'little people' and most contemporary perceptions of our so-called
'visitors.' His insight here was remarkable. Indeed, the medieval accounts
of visits to 'fairyland' (see Katherine Briggs, et al.) closely parallel
contactee/abductee accounts of alien bases. That such close-in outposts were
finally abandoned a few centuries ago in favor of heavily concealed,
subterranean (or sub-Antarctic?) complexes as we humans began to evolve a more
secular, technologically sophisticated culture would make good sense.

Let me add that, without meaning to sound like von Daniken, et al., the
available evidence (mostly mythological) leads me to suspect that the first
batch of alien explorers probably arrived here just before the end of the
Pleistocene, and that they have been systematically observing us ever since.
That one or more different--and perhaps less altruistically
motivated--would-be extraterrestrial 'Conquistadores' turned up several
millennia later also seems probable, as does the hypothesis that they fought
and lost (or at least failed to win decisively) what amounted to a 'colonial
war' with the first-comers for control of the planet. As I said, the evidence
here is almost exclusively mythological (e.g., the Greek Titanomachyia, the
Old Norse accounts of the war between the Aesir and the Vanir, the Biblical
'Rage in Heaven,' the conflict between Marduk and Tiamat in Babylonian
mythology, the several divine invasions of Ireland, as described in the LEBOR
GABALA, Seth versus Horus in ancient Egyptian mythology, the Aztec and Inca
origin myths, etc., etc.), but it's certainly persuasive. Some sort of mutual
accomodation seems to have been reached between the several colonial 'powers,'
however, as at least some of the losers (i.e., those that don't resemble the
'Greys') still seem to be involved with us.

But I've taken up far too much space here. Sometime in the future I'll
comment on another widespread assumption: that genus Homo (or at least H.
sapiens sapiens) was somehow 'seeded' by our extraterrestrial colonial
masters. It makes no sense whatsoever in light of what we currently know
about this most crucial phase in hominid evolution. Again, Occam's Razor. . .
I look forward to further exchanges.

Cheers,
Scott

Well, I think all this ranting about scientific method and
who's debunking who isn't helping answer very many questions
about the ufo phenomina. What we need is a helpful guide
for the average person so they can be the best at providing
useful information so we can all answer the questions at hand.

Here's my start at some helpful questions that could be useful
if answered.

You happen to see a UFO and you have your camera with, you
even remeber to take the lense cap off. The next day when
you get the pictures back from the developer they are all
blurry. What should you do for the following night so you get
better pictures?

You happen upon a recently crashed UFO what should you do?

You happen upon a not so recently crashed UFO what should you do?

You meet someone who has seen a UFO how do you get a reliable
account from them?

You are abducted by a UFO and are about to be made to forget
everything how do you insure you can remeber?

How do you keep a low profile with respect to govt disinformation
and UFO harrasment types?

You have a piece of a UFO how should you have it studied?

You find an alien critter cutting up one of your cattle, you happen
to have your trusty rifle handy, what should you do?

You have a dead alien critter what should you do?

You happen to have access to govt UFO info (documents, samples, actual craft)
how do you release this info?

You're an archeoligist (sp?) who is the first to discover that the ancient
Chinese had portable crystal powered walkmans, what should you do?

Well, I got the ball rolling, let's hope this is a more interesting thread
than some of the stuff I've been seeing.

Linda, what's the context? Is this something you've written? Something
in the current press somewhere? I'm currently collaborating with Dr.
Mark Carlotto on the next book about the Martian anomalies and am
certainly interested in hearing about anything in print related to the
subject. Thanks.

-------------------

Note to all: By the way, I'll be attending the First World UFO
Congress, at the Hilton in Tucson, between May 3 and 7. I realize that
the organizer, Wendelle Stevens, is not exactly worshipped in the
particular ufological subculture represented by Paranet, but frankly
I'm surprised that an event of this magnitude has received virtually
no notice here -- not even a derisive putdown! Interestingly, most of
the speakers are from overseas, and it looks like a chock-full five-
day schedule reflecting a wide range of information, contact
experiences, etc.

There will also be a large UFO-related expo (UFO Expo West) in LA the
following weekend. Sounds like a bit of a circus, but speakers will
include Edith Fiore, William Bramley, Al Bielek, Budd Hopkins, Linda
Howe, Bruce Maccabee, Stanton Friedman, Vicki Cooper, Don Ecker, Bill
Hamilton and others. It will take place at the Hyatt Hotel at the LA
Intl. Airport, May 11 and 12.

Subject: Alien alloys

From: Will Martin <wmartin@stl-06sima.army.mil>

Some of the recent discussion mentioned the possibility of an artifact
being examined by scienists and declared to be definitely not of Terran
origin, and that this would meet Klass' definition of 'proof' of alien
visitation. This sort of concept is pretty common in SF and in UFO-
related discussions -- alloys or materials 'not of this earth'. What
I'm wondering is if modern technology has reached a point where it may
be next to impossible to examine some exotic material and truly state
that it is beyond human capability to produce it.

After all, we can produce some pretty wild stuff nowadays. It may not be
economic to produce it in quantity or use it for mundane applications,
but given a modern materials lab and a big budget, are there things
that are theoretically possible that we still cannot make? What would be
a good example of a substance which, if I had a chunk of it, would be
proof of alien contact? (Kryptonite doesn't count! :-)

I think we can ignore the old pulp-sci-fi standbys of new elements
(even if Lazar refers to them :-); what we'd be discussing are alloys
and materials treatments which would take regular everyday elements
and compounds and get vastly superior performance out of them. The
periodic table and the atomic mechanics of elements are pretty well
known, and we're not going to find out the Arcturans make their ships
out of element 33 1/3rd... :-) There may be creatable and even stable
transuranics we don't know of, but they'd be heavy and not the sort of
thing you'd build spacecraft out of.

Stuff we have now would be considered incomprehensible a hundred years
ago, I suppose; what would a materials lab in 1900 make of the parts
found in a modern fighter plane, like the titanium and carbon-fiber and
optical fibers and ceramic coatings and various alloys? Would scientists
of that time, given a pile of broken F-18 parts, have declared they
came from outer space, or would they have been able to determine that
they were of earthly origin and just manufactured with techniques
they could not define?

MUFON and the Georgia Skeptics, eh? When she arrives, let me know and we can
