Thanks for the reply. I'm running the scanman installed in my machine with
my mouse on Com 1. I have my modem set to Com 3. I'm playing havoc on one
of the local BBS. Didyou encounter any problems from your setup? Thanks
for the tips on the scanner, I'll have lots of time to practice if I'm
restricted from the BBS. Houston

Yeah, I've left several messages on the good old
CUFO's answering machine ffor Sherman Larsen. No answer yet.
You would think such a big outfit could get back to you,
wouldn't you?
Anyways, I also tracked down who I believe to be William
Weitzel of Bradford, PA., now Allegheny PA., who did the
investigation of the Portage County UFO Chase in 1966. But,
alas his number is unlisted. Everytime I get involved in
something the people change their number or leave the
area. I shower, trust me, I do.
Anyways, trying to get info in this area is like pulling
teeth. Rick, if you ever talk to Sheaffer, who I believe
did an expose on this case, can you see if he would send
me info on his conclusions, which I believe was one of a
balloon and then Venus!!! It would be great reading.

My basis for this statement lies in 'The Keys of This Blood' by Malachi
Martin (Simon and Schuster, 1990). Martin, for those of you who don't
follow such things, has written a number of influential books on
history, theology, and the paranormal, including 'Hostage to the Devil'
(the most influential modern work on exorcism and possession) and 'The
Jesuits' (an expose' of the inner workings of the Society of Jesus).
'The Keys of This Blood' is subtitled 'The struggle for world dominion
between Pope John Paul II, Mikhail Gorbachev, and the capitalist West',
which just about says it all.
On page 627 of 'The Keys', Martin embarks on a detailed description of
the famous 'Miracle of Fatima' of 13 October 1917. Briefly, on that
day 70,000+ people in rural Portugal saw storm clouds part to reveal a
silvery disk which they took to be the sun--but a most pecular sun
which 'danced' in the sky, spewed out a rainbow of colors, dived at the
crowd, emitted such intense heat that the observers' rain-soaked
clothes were dried, and then climbed into the sky and once again became
a normal solar disk. This bizarre event was immediately acclaimed by
most of those present as a miracle; and despite initial attempts at
suppression, and serious doubts by the Catholic hierarchy, it has
gradually come to be accepted by many in the Church (including a number
of Popes) as a genuine case of divine intervention in the natural order
of things.
Fatmina cannot easily be dismissed. There is no reasonable doubt as to
whether the incident actually occurred; it was seen at close range by a
number of 'objective observers' (i.e., skeptics and journalists) who
confirmed it in detail. The phenomenon was also witnessed by lone
observers several miles away, which would seem to rule out hoaxes,
'mass hallucination', or similar pseudo-explanations. Of course, it
probably goes without saying that the incident has all the trappings of
a classic UFO encounter. (One witness who looked at the disk with
binoculars even claimed to have seen a ladder-like structure and
humanoid figures.) If the dance of the sun were all we had to go on,
we could pigeonhole Fatima as perhaps the grandest UFO event of all
time (at least until the Belgian triangle came along!) and leave it at
that.
Unfortunately, the religious element of the Fatima sighting cannot be
attributed to the overblown imaginings of superstitious peasants who
were faced with the unknown and simply plugged it into the only
categories they knew. For the Fatima incident was the capstone of six
months of visitations by 'the Virgin Mary' to three young children who
insisted that the Virgin had given them messages and signs, including
three secret prophecies about coming world events. The dance of the
sun, which they had predicted well in advance, was meant to be the
final, definitive proof that the children were telling the truth about
what they had seen and heard--as well as a warning to the world of
impending calamity. Consequently, whatever it was that manifested
itself to 70,000 people as a dancing silver disk had already repeatedly
represented itself to the children as the mother of Jesus Christ.
Two of the three prophecies became publicly known. The first was a
general warning of sin and the wrath to come. The second predicted the
outbreak of World War II and the malign influence of Russia on the rest
of the world. (Not bad for 1917!) The third, however, was kept
secret; it was written down and entrusted to the Vatican for
safekeeping, where it remains to this day.
The contents of the third prophecy have only become widely known in the
pontificate of John Paul II. Apparently the prophecy has three
components: (1) there will be a 'physical chastisement of the nations'
by land, sea, and air; (2) there will be a 'spiritual chastisement' in
which religious faith will all but disappear; and (3) ...
Maddeningly, the third component is still a closely guarded secret; but
it seems to be a detailed and sophisticated statement of a geopolitical
nature which has to do with relations between the Communist world, the
West, and the future of the Catholic Church. John Paul II has said
that the third prophecy must be kept secret 'so as not to encourage
the world power of Communism to make certain moves'. Others are more
forceful; one Cardinal said in 1957 that the third prophecy should be
buried 'in the most hidden, the deepest, the most obscure and
inaccessible place on earth'.
So how is Fatima, after all this time, relevant to what is going on in
the world today?
Primarily because of its powerful influence on John Paul II, and his
influence in turn on the course of world events in Eastern Europe and
the Third World. If Malachi Martin is correct, John Paul II has built
his entire understanding of current events, and his strategy for coping
with and shaping them, around the Third Prophecy of Fatima. He, like
the people of his native Poland, has always been supremely devoted to
Mary; but now, it is said, he prays to her as Our Lady of Fatima.
Furthermore, he has apparently been blessed with his own personal
vision of the silver disk, which came to him while he was recuperating
from the wounds he received during the assassination attempt in St.
Peter's Square.
He received those wounds on May 13--the feast day of Our Lady of Fatima.

Don Ecker provided that file to us. I will leave it to Don
to tell you the story of how he came across it. It is very
interesting.
As far as the rest of your posting, I find some events
equally puzzling about the whole situation and feel it might
be worthy of further discussion.

Hi John,
I've just found your reply here on the Denver link to Paranet (and
thanks for the tip that they're available here!) -- sorry for the
delay.
Does she get to all the conferences/meetings or is it just some places
she visits? I had the impression from the program that she sold her
photos of the mysterious UFO visitors at these events and it sounded as
if they were saying she made the circuits and attended all of them, but
maybe they just meant she worked her local area.
Nice to be able to talk with you here!
