In one of his Visitors books, Whitley Streiber mentioned a
then-unpublished book called _The Redshift Factor_, or something similar,
which claimed to have translated some alleged alien languages through Gaelic
into English. Has this book made it to press yet?

The 1990 volume of the Journal of UFO Studies is now available from the
Center for UFO Studies. The price is $15.00, which includes shipping
and handling. There are research articles on abductees, including
parallels between their experiences and those who have had a near-death
experience, and a theoretical article examining what is known about
post-traumatic stress as it might apply to abductees.

There is also a very lively forum on the theories of Michael Persinger
about tectonic forces being the cause for most UFO reports (including
abduction reports). And there is a comprehensive report on the history
of investigation and research in Australian ufology.

The address of CUFOS can be obtained from the organizations section of
the board.

From: vanth!jms@amix.commodore.com (Jim Shaffer)

This Wednesday, February 6, at 8 PM EST, 'Unsolved Mysteries' (NBC) will
present a report on the Cash/Landrum case.

For the uninitiated, this case involves three people sighting a UFO
accompanied by military helicopters. They were apparently exposed to a
significant amount of nuclear radiation, as a result of which they sued the
United States government. Some people have speculated that this was a
top-secret US aircraft; others have said it was the US flying an alien
vehicle. Regardless of what it was, it was definitely real and the tragic
effects it had on the witnesses are real.

Pete, I don't think that we should put aside all these strange
phenomnons as you mentioned. I don't think any of these has been
explained to a point where thay are fact. They are just theories and
have no basis for fact. So it's still should be part of the big
puzzle for to throw these pieces away would might be the answer to a
question that people have been looking for a long time. Shame! you
have been listening to too many narrow minded scientist lately.

Dale, We have been getting the same message in this part of the
country and from many. The one message that someone has sent me is
that there will be a war like no other war before. That the sky will
catch fire and there will be death though out the world. Hmmmm!
Don't know what to say about all this but I think I will sharpen the
shovel, just in case. 73's ---Jim----

From the Gulf Breeze Sentinel, by Bruce Morrison.

ABC JOINS LOCAL UFO SKY WATCH

The Los Angeles based production company, Ohlmeyer Productions, working on
the ABC special, "America's Best-Kept Secrets," joined a local UFO sky watch on
Friday night, January 11, 1991, and filmed the frequently-seen "red light" over
Gulf Breeze.
The cameraman, Ron Ladd, said, "It was a long distance away illuminating the
clouds and traveling very slowly to the east. It just appeared from within the
clouds and after a minute or so it disappeared. I caught it on film. It was
sometimes very bright and then would fade, maybe because of the clouds."

An earlier witness Jeff Lawrence said, "What we saw on November 11, 1990
looked like the UFO that Ed Walters photographed three years ago. I know what
we saw."

Eight local area residents were also present during the sighting along with
the production company's producer, Jeff Androski, and former NASA systems
specialist Robert Oechsler. Mr. Oechsler was the first to see the glow of the
UFO as it appeared beneath the clouds.
Mr. Oechsler is here on assignment from Washington and is an expert in remote
controlled mechanics and photo analysis. He was equipped with infrared film to
photograph the unidentified red object and said, "I have tried to consider all
the options to this Gulf Breeze mystery. I would like to explain it away as a
military aircraft, balloons, flares, temperature inversions, or hoax, but none
of these options hold up under scientific study. Balloons don't travel opposite
the wind, flares don't change color or hover motionless and I can assure you
that what I saw and filmed over Gulf Breeze was not an airplane of helicopter.
I have designed some very sophisiticated remote control systems but duplication
the soundless flight and brightness of this unknown object would be next to
impossible. I can only say that I don't know what it is."

The ABC special will air in Februare. One segment will present information
about the mysterious grass circles in Gulf Breeze Shoreline Park along with the
unidentified flying red object that dozens of local residents continue to
photograph.

Thanks to all of the people that made my time on this mailing list
enjoyable. There were some really interesting ideas presented in
the last couple of years.

I have wanted to have a place to have provocative worthwhile
discussions about things on the fringe. Unfortunately paranet
currently does not appear to me to be an effective forum for
those kinds of discussions.

I am going to look for better soil for my seeds.

Thanks to Mike Corbin, Jim Speiser, Cyro Lord, and all the rest of
the Paranet community that have made my stint enjoyable.

Bye.

Rick Moen writes:

+ Once again, your personal opinion (as with that of anyone
+ else who chimes in on this bandwagon appeal) _will_ buy you a

Just a suggestion, Rick: I think that people would listen to
your ideas more seriously if you changed your delivery to be
a little bit less pompous.

+ It must be nice to be able to _define one's self to be a moderate_.
+ Too bad, then, about your immediately, continually, and grossly
+ caricaturing one (and only one) of the supposed extremists.
+ This does tend to sort of _ruin the effect_ a bit.

Another suggestion: try wiping the foam off of your mouth. It
has tended to dry there and form a crust of sorts.

+ So, enough with the mud-slinging and rhetorical posturing, OK?

EOT.

To Dale Wedge:

Dale, I am assembling a packet of material on the Spaur-Neff case to send
to you. Unfortunately, I have not found a copy of the original NICAP report
that Weitzel generated on the case. It should be in the CUFOS files now.
Let me know if they have it and I will request a copy from them. I have a
lot of local news clips on the case - do you want these? I will not send
them in the first batch of material. Have you located Weitzel yet? I am
curious as to what he is doing now.

Good luck,
Dave Webb
