No problem...somehow that message got hung up in the system for a month, and I
just got it. I was certain you had found out differently since then. Besides,
it don't matter, a model was found. Looks like it was planted, too. But I'll
bet you dollars to donuts it weren't planted by no de-bunker-type.

So much for the question I often get asked by critics: "I can imagine a UFO
cover-up in this country, but how could it be so world-wide? Why would so many
other countries conspire to hide the truth?" Another argument bites the dust.

Exactly, John. Ask yourself, who besides Ed has drawn the attention of Budd
Hopkins, Bruce Maccabee and Walt Andrus? Who besides Ed has had their video or
photo minutely examined? I for one would like to see an all-out full scale
investigation of JUST ONE OTHER INDEPENDENT SIGHTING in the area. Not, as used
to be the case, because I don't believe they're legit, but precisely because
they may very well be legit, indeed, they may be the signal, drowned out by
Ed's noise.

Steve (and anyone else) - In regard to your questions of "where can I
get some books". If you are like me you may have overlooked one of the
most obvious places to find the books. It's called the Public Library.
It was over a year after I got interested in this subject before I
decided to see what my local library had and I was suprised at what I
found. They have an excellent collection including the original Condon
Report and a couple of Major Keyhoes books. They don't have them all,
of course, but you might want to check it out locally if you haven't
already, to see what they do have.

Wow, you too!! Lived on mine form '76 on till I moved to Memphis. Thats
another story! My sailboat's in Sarasota, was all set to spend a week on it
right after the symposium, but things went astray...hopefully in September!

Good question! Different society, different priorities, different view on
things. Have you listened to shortwave radio? Most persons would be very
surprised at the opinions of different countries, and how, outside the USA,
the views discussed are so different from the USA's. We have tunnel vision
to an extent, and a lot of it is brought on by the "third estate", the
media.

It's easy to do that. It's difficult, but try to filter the information you
receive about any given subject, and go with a gut feeling often, and listen
but don't make a decision, just keep adding to that feeling. That way, your
mind will remain receptive and open.

By all means, no. I am sorry that you feel it was, but I could
not figure out where Walt got the impression that I needed his
advice and counseling on how to run a network. His information
appeared to be ill-conceived from either not getting it straight
from you on how the network was doing or he was just plain being
cynical.
Irregardless, I did not feel that Walt was acting proper by
attempting to plug MUFONET when this endeavor was explained to me
to be a joint effort on the part of ParaNet and MUFON to see how
things would go. As I told you initially, I was willing to
provide the link in a *cooperative* effort to get things
formalized in the future, however Walt's comments in the May
issue of the Journal did not even mention ParaNet, and his June
comments were totally out of line. I feel that his actions were
insensitive to the many good sysops that make up this network in
a collective effort to bring the various groups and interests
together. The long standing "mutually exclusive" policy that I
have heard so much about MUFON seemed
to bleed through in his writing. You, as well as I know that
ParaNet is not just me, but everyone else. Walt failed to
acknowledge the participation and the dedication of the whole group
while remarking about my personal situation.
Again, I did not mean to infer that I was flaming you.

You missed the whole point of my idea, John.
Say you're the Feds, or the Control Group, what have you, and you have just
barely enough inside knowledge of the UFO scene that you know there will be an
increase in sighting activity in the Gulf Breeze area during the period 11/87
through 89 and into 90. You know the activity will be strong enough and
unfalsifiable enough to cause problems with "keeping the lid on." There is
nothing you can do about the activity itself, but you CAN add an element of
"plausible deniability" by creating a monstrous hoax in the area, one that
cannot be PROVEN to be a hoax. Do you see where I'm going now? I cannot deny
that from all accounts there is some high strangeness activity in the area, so
much so that I think its time we issued a separate ParaNet rating for that
activity which is separate from Ed's. It sounds like it could be as high as
S4/P5. But I am 100% convinced that Ed's photos are a hoax. The idea that his
photos are purposely designed to discredit the other sightings, or at least
throw enough confusion on the matter to split the entire field and discourage
serious journalistic coverage of the other sightings, is a compelling one and
seems more logical than to think that it is a mere coincidence.
