DJ>This is just my 2 cents here guys ... but ... can I remind you both
DJ>that some ppl, like me for example (and I doubt I'm alone in my views)
DJ>resent having my time and money wasted by you posting your flames
DJ>to the list ... I've reread the entire digests three times, and I
DJ>found very little useful information in your 'debate' (restraining
DJ>myself a bit there) ... PLEASE, I beg you, unless you have some _real_
DJ>formation to offer, or even some opinions that are relevant, DON'T
DJ>WASTE MY TIME AND MONEY! More bluntly I'd like to ask, do you _really_
DJ>think THAT much of yourself as to assume that others really want to
DJ>hear your opinions(/flaming)??? Guess what ... I don't ...

You're 2 cents are well noted but I might remind you that the
flip side of that is seeing others 2 cents as well..It's called
free speech. Now,if you don't like what you're viewing on your
screen you *do* have an option. Look down and locate your "N"
key and press it to skip the messages.

Also bear in mind that you'll see dupes of messages on the net
at times,,this doesn't necessarily mean that either Ea Richards
or myself have cross-posted those CIA thread msgs ourselves. Mailers
have often been known to screw up and it isn't the fault of the
Sys Admin or Sysops..most of the time I've seen it as a software
problem or polling problem. Neither UUCP or QBBS or Fido is perfect
and I've yet to see anyone post that it is.

Now,if we were to post messages according to YOUR dictates there would
hardly be any discussion here. Some messages are going to be highly
inflammatory at times according to the wide range of people on this
net and their opinions will differ. I may disagree with Ea Richards
assessment of my opinion but that doesn't mean that I'm out to
"get him" . And I consider that it was more of a "jibe" than a
true flame. A true flame war on this net is to watch T.S. Bennet's
posts and the responses to them :) :)
I would rather see some conflict on the net than see NO conflicting
opinions and bland mutterings from people with NO imagination.

Looking forward to seeing your thought provoking posts.

Gene>So enjoy Woodward's book, but don't take it as gospel, if you catch my
Gene>drift. And please do recognize that Woodward is an incurable liberal.
Gene>I pass no judgement on that--let history do it.

Well, Ive completed the book and did enjoy reading it. As far as
the interviews with Casey are concerned there were a few where the
(according to the book) Post was going to publish details on the
"Ivey Bells" incident and there were meetings between Woodward
his boss, The director for the NSA and Casey where they attempted
to dissuade the Post from publishing the articles. This may or
may not have been true, but I'm sure than some proof may exist
if it did happen. As far as the "death-bed" interview..well,that's
something that can't be proved, and like you say it comes down
to Casey's wife's WORD against Woodward's. Take the book for what
it's worth..

I'm looking into that spook list that was posted sometime back as
I want to read about 10-15 books to get a well-rounded opinion on
the inner workings of the NSA and the CIA. Anyways, thanks to
you and Jim Delton for being a good point of balance on this
subject.

Ecker vs. O'Leary
-+ Don Ecker vs. Brian O'Leary

My friends, my friends.... the age-old misunderstandings and semantic
wars between scientists of the strictly materialist-reductionist
school and scientists who are more mystically and philosophically
oriented (Tesla and Einstein come to mind) will *never* be resolved by
name-calling. They will be resolved by people getting to know one
another, and by being honestly curious about, and open to, each
other's points of view. The possiblity of arriving at meaningful
answers to the broad range of mysteries with which we're grappling
demands no less of us.

O'Leary's book may indeed have its weaknesses but it puts forth a
great deal of provocative information and candid personal experience
that can't just be swept under the rug because it seems too
unbelievable, or hasn't yet been developed to the point of being
"utilitarian," or smacks "new age" thought (whatever *that* is --
there are *many* definitions of "new age").

Dr. Hynek was fond of reminding knee-jerk debunkers that "ridicule is
not part of scientific method."
This applies *within* the ufological
community as much as it does elsewhere. If we can't listen to each
other and try to appreciate other worldviews (which is, after all one
of the central challenges of ufology), our task is doomed to failure.

-----Sonice booms--------
I noticed the discussion on the attempts to eliminate the sonic boom
created by high speed aircraft and wanted to throw my 2 cents in.
First I believe that there has been some research in at least trying to
minimize the level of the sound wave produced....but this was directed
by the US in its SST research about 20 years ago. Also I believe that
the French and British are still doing this type research for their
new model Concorde that they are trying to build.
One little fact that might be of interest to all is the fact that it
is not the aircraft speed across the ground that determines when the
aircraft is going Mach. It is the point at which the majority of the
air flow around the aircraft is Mach. Most aircraft start having some
sonic airflow at speeds around .95 Mach...this is usually called
Mach-crit. At this point the aerodynamic drag starts peaking and cruising
at this speed is most inefficient. So if the general airflow around the
aircraft can be accelerated relative to the ground, i.e. the jet stream,
it is possible to have a Mach+ speed ACROSS the ground while staying
sub-sonic relative to the air-mass in which the aircraft flies.
------Mike Corbin------
I am curious as to what you do for employment. Is it possible to
obtain a resume'?
------Magnetic Grids----
I kinda doubt that any propulsion using a magnetic system could
go undetected for very long. Since the volume of detectors of magnetic
disturbances is so high. They are used for everything from detecting
submarines to Earth quake sensors. Most are very sensitive and would
pick up something that strong easily. As far as a magnetic grid???
There do exist maps that diagram the Earths magnetic field kinda like
a topology map of the surface terrain. Contact the following address
and describe what you want and they should be able to provide it:
Defense Mapping Agency Aerospace Center
3200 South 2nd Street
St. Louis, Missouri
63118-3399
ATTN: Customer Service
(I think its called a Magnetic Variation Map)
------Lazar--------
The man should be studied.......but not by people interested in
the field of unexplained aerial phenomenon.

What are the current plans for the conference to be held at
Pensacola on July 7-9? Has anyone seen an agenda?
----------
Why is TS Bennett persona non grata? Has he done something
that is criminal in nature? After talking with him on the phone
I'll agree that he appears to a total wack'o ..... but then most
of the people that get involved in this and other conferences on
UFOs are generally wack'o. I'll bet if Lazar wanted to be in your
conference you'd let him tell his wack'o stories.....besides TS
can be somewhat entertaining he is so far of the deep end!
Actually I think you had better hope that he doesn't find out that
there are FCC regulations that he could use to bury you in litigation
for illegal exclusion. Thats the problem with these public forums...
they're PUBLIC.
----------
Spent a weekend down at Pensacola and Gulf Breeze. Its a nice place.
Later.....
David Winters
